Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
It can still change, but the chance of showers is only 40% and 30% respectively. That was the percentages for Sunday and Monday this weekend and it was gorgeous.. that being said, I will make sure I pack my tarp for under the tent, the fly.. as well as extra ponchos and my rainboots, etc.. I am more worried about the temps! 64, 66, 59, 62 for highs during the day. That makes for not so nice days and cold nights! I am thinking that almost none of my normal fest wear will work... WHAT WILL I WEAR?!?! I really only have sundresses and work clothes.
EDIT: Also, MJ vets and others who know the area. Anyone know a Walmart or 24 hour Stop and Shop or something nearby? My friend and I are driving in separately and we were thinking of combining cars and leaving one somewhere relatively safe for the weekend.

Down in the valley at Route 9W and 23A, forget the name of the town. But there are 24 hr places there.

Saugerties it looks like? I wonder if that location will work for both of us.
You basically have two Walmarts on your way from CT. Assuming you're heading North on the Thruway, you'll have two options. You can stop in Kingston (biggest place between NYC and Albany, and park in a bunch of places for the weekend, the only drawback is Kingston has some sketch characters in certain areas.
The other option would be to go up to Catskill, which is a nicer area, but about 10 miles North of the exit you'll take to get to Hunter. Kingston is about 10 miles South.
I'm basically looking at Walmart locations for this, because upstate NY is kind of hit-or-miss with 24-hour places.
Thanks Flanzo. I'll look into them! Our routes are completely different. She will be coming up from Darien, so her route will be what you are thinking of. But all the suggested routes for me have me leaving the state in the NW corner or even going through Mass. And then they bring me up 23A crossing the Thruway, but never getting on it. I do go through Catskill, but she wouldn't. Hmmm.. We could always just caravan in, too.

If you're going to pass through Catskill, I would probably just meet there. It'll only be an extra 10 minutes for her, you can hit up the Walmart for last-minute supplies, and leave a car in that parking lot without much fear that anything would happen.
Bonzai, you did VIP right? The VIP campground is broken into two segments divided by a little gully and some trees. Make sure to set up your tent a decent distance from the gully. I've never seen water flowing in it but the ground around it gets super marshy around it and I had my tent flooded despite having a tarp because of that. I recommend camping just the opposite side of it against the fence to GA camping. It's in the shade and less densely populated from the front of VIP.
For the GA campers you are camped on the side of the hill. I highly recommend setting up the tent with the door facing down the hill. It helps keep water out.
Flanzo, we are now just leaning towards doing a little caravan. We are arriving mid-late afternoon on Thursday and I don't foresee any crazy wait to get in.. (am I wrong?) We are leaving Sunday night too, so both of us just bring able to take off will be a nice plus. What brand grocery story can be found in Hunter? I am thinkign we just need to meet at a place with beer and ice.
Bacon, yup. VIP. Thanks for the heads up! Away from the gully I will be! How car is it from VIP parking to camping? I just asked her if she can round up some sort of wheels to move things.. hopefully she can!
I assume my EZ Up will still be worth it even if it's not super hot or will it not be worth the effort? 100% of the camping gear will be coming with me so I am trying to work it all out (while still making sure they are good for Roo two days later!).

You can certainly do this (and it's what I would do, personally), I was just trying to give you your options. There are plenty of places you can stop at to get beer & ice, that's for sure. They don't have a big-name super market or anything, but they have a grocery store in the middle of town to pick up supplies and stuff. There's a Price Chopper in Suagerties if you want to go grocery shopping for real.

Any idea of what the no name place is called? Or something else nearby and we can trek to it after meting? I am just trying to give her an address.

What do you mean, an address to meet up at? Hunter isn't a big town, you'll see the ski mountain on the left side of 23A, and when you're in the town you'll know it. There's nothing for miles and you'll see ski shops popping up, then you'll go down and it turns into Main st. There's an old train tressel that they changed into a walking bridge, and that's the main entrance to the mountain. Across the street is a gas station and a convenience store. If you want beer/ice that's where you can pick those things up.
Are you looking for an actual grocery store to pick up food and supplies? Or just a place where you can both meet up and then get situated together?
That works then. Thanks. We mainly just need a place to meet up and we can figure it out from there. I'll just ask her to GPS the mountain and look for the store. I didn't realize the town was that small. I haven't been to Hunter since I have been like.. 10.

The VIP parking is literally on the other side of the resort building from the VIP camping at the very most a 5 minuet walk and if you are lucky, like I was both years, even less.
I never had a shade tent but I could see how it would be nice particularly if you are planning on spending any time at the camp site. You don't really have to worry about the heat waking you up I always managed to sleep past 10am without the heat bothering me. Only time I woke up early was that time my tent flooded

64 Klein Avenue Hunter, NY 12442
Use that address (it's the ski resort and where the festival itself is). Just tell her when it says to turn into the resort, pull into the gas station and you guys can meet up there and get down to business.

I did this last year, with a Phish show thrown in to make it quite the triple-threat. You're going to love it.
