You can buy PJ tickets to any show, even festivals with Ten Club. I'm not exactly sure if it was a Ten Club mistake, misunderstanding, or if DeLuna didn't get them clear info, but some Ten Club members that bought tickets through PJ were under the impression that they could sit in the VIP for the PJ show. The fact that they kept the ocean side of the sound board empty in front of the rail didn't aid the congestion.
I think the DeLuna organizers assumed everyone would be in the VIP tent area stage right, on the boardwalk.
I was stage left rail for PJ, and there wasn't a soul between Mike McCready and me except security. Parked stage right for Foo, and the pit area VIP was packed.

We loved the fest! Honestly, out of the 4 we went to this year, our favorite. Loved the ample lay-out, we thought the sound was great and awesomely loud, which helps me to enjoy the show because it drowns out all the chatter and other sounds that distract me, the beach is just as beautiful (maybe more!) as we remembered it, we really didn't have a complaint the whole weekend. The staff was friendly, we missed that southern hospitality!, and security was really lax (the lifeguards did let some people break the rules). I loved being able to wade in the water and also stand on the awesome sandbars! They can't realistically let people swim at the fest- we spoke to the head of Pcola EPA and she said 5 people have drowned this year swimming right there so close to the pier (the undercurrents are incredibly strong) and like she said, mix that with alcohol, major liability.
The VIP story at Deluna is similar to what happened to us at Forecastle- we were under the impression we could see MMJ in a VIP pit but we were kicked out for the MMJ fanclub folks to enter. The festival organizers (as told by us by the forecastle security) were not aware that the main stage pit was going to be used for the fanclub folks during MMJ's show so this all kinda lead up to a wrestling match to get the VIP out. Angry situation. We'll never buy VIP again after that, so I feel for the deluna VIP folks! But it seems to me that fest's lying about their VIP amenities is common practice. At least deluna staff seem to be responding to this goof-up. Forecastle people did absolutely nothing about it.

I feel for the vip folks too. You pay all that money and most of the time vip is not worth it. It seems though that the organizers should be dictating who can be in the vip pit not some fan club. We have only ever bought vip for bonnaroo and my feelings go back and forth in regards to it being worth the cost. we seem to have more fun with GA but man do I miss that hill during the headliners! vip at deluna is such a waste because you can get so close to any stage.
Yeah, what is it like $40 a year to be in ten club? And that granted people access to VIP areas of fests that costs normal folks $800-1100+? I would have raised all kinds of hell up in that pit.

But was it in PJ's contract with DeLuna?? You have to respect PJ for looking out for their fans. I've been in the Ten Club for years, and actually bought my tix in this case through DeLuna. I'll have to see if I can find any info on the Ten Club board.

Just for the record, Pearl Jam did NOT sell tickets to Deluna Fest via Ten Club, and thus, made no promises to Ten Club members for special treatment. However, CID Entertainment did sell Travel Packages for Deluna that were Pearl Jam specific. These packages are listed here: www.cidentertainment.com/home/delunafest2012.php and included "Exclusive main stage viewing area during Pearl Jam's set", as well as 2 of Pearl Jam's posters.
I don't recall ever having seen the Ten Club sell tickets to a festival. They didn't for Music Midtown, or Made in America, or Bonnaroo 2008.

It looks like there were two different types of packages offered for each hotel: one for GA and one for VIP. Maybe the VIP tickets issued by those hotels were different? different wristbands? whatever. Apparently, that wasn't the biggest issue that everyone is mad about. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the last year for DeLuna. These people are f'n pissed and are going to fight to get their money back for VIP. And honestly, they deserve it from what I saw. They did not get $800 worth of extra perks. I seriously doubt that the festival made enough money to cover the cost of booking all of the acts too. Midtown Music killed the attendance of DeLuna because it was so much closer of a drive for so many people. The trolley system sucked and there are mad complaints about that too. They blew it. I think they just tried to get cheap on things (and pull a fast one on the VIPs) to make up for bad ticket sales due to Midtown Music pressure. Roll Tide?
It's really a shame too because I had so much fun!

Here is an interesting write-up about the good and the bad of DeLuna 2012. I agree with the author about Superchunk, I just wish we had seen more of their set:

I really, really hope DeLuna is back in 2013, but after hearing the VIP stories and seeing some of that stuff, I won't be buying VIP until I see some consistency.
Then again I've never done VIP at any fest before anyway.

Top 10 Sets at DeLuna:
1. Foo Fighters 2. Pearl Jam 3. The Joy Formidable 4. Corin Tucker Band 5. Bob Mould 6. The Gaslight Anthem 7. LF Knighton 8. OFF! 9. Twothirtyeight 10. Paloma
I'm glad you caught L.F. Knighton. Best band in Mobile. They will be playing a Halloween show at the Music Box this year along with some friends that will be doing some Misfits covers (call themselves Shitfits). I think they will also be doing the NYE show there too. I'll be in ATL on Halloween, but I may end up doing that on NYE if there's not anything worth driving to Nola for.

Please visit this facebook page before you make a decision on Deluna Fest 2013. The VIP section was bad, but the reserve the right to change things without you knowing and that includes General Admission. I would never go back! www.facebook.com/#!/DelunaFest2012VipFraud?fref=ts There are about 1000 others that would also not go back. Please also check the Deluna Fest Facebook page for yourself as well. A lot of information on there. Just look through all of the comments. These include the GA Trolley cars and the VIP as well.

Hey douchebagg, quit spamming with your BS! I'm sorry you are a festival amateur and got custied on an unecessary VIP ticket. Live and learn. You do not need VIP at small festivals, you can always get up close if you want to.

So glad that we saw Foo Fighters at Deluna this year and at hangout last year. Looks like it could be a while before they tour again.
I'm hoping it's just the weariness after two long years on the road, but they didn't play night in, night out this summer.
Dave should look at the Pearl Jam model, 1 or 2 short 4-8 week tours each year, break it up, allowing yourself time to be home with the family.
I think it's a little odd that they're taking another break because they just went on hiatus after touring off Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace in 2008, and came back in 2011 for Wasting Light, but maybe all that touring in 2011 and the early part of this year got to them. They went everywhere all over the world. Maybe a year off will do some good. But Dave even said that they were already writing songs for the next record last year.

I think people are looking too much into what he means. I mean, it's the last date of their tour, so they aren't playing any shows for awhile. That's all he's saying, he's not suggesting anything else, like a hiatus or extended absence. That's why he said the same thing in the UK, because it was simply their last show scheduled there for the time being. I hope they don't plan on another long break, but if they are, then that would be pretty crappy IMO.
