I was in an interesting head space during the Sat LN and ended up chilling on the grass solo, right of tent, during the Superjam while my buddy went forward. There was a beautiful young lady doing some amazing hoop work in front of me, entertaining her friends, that was just mesmerizing. Great stuff, one of the many things I love about life on the Farm.

I just started hooping a month ago (and I am obsessed!) I'm excited to get down at [my second] bonnaroo this year! (If only I could get the chest hooping down.. but I guess I still have a few more months to get more tricks in do a lot of people carry their hoops around centeroo with them? and I want to buy the bohemia moodhoop but I'm a bit worried about the cost, has anyone purchased an LED elsewhere?

Been spinning poi for the last year or so, getting better... Did knock myself to the ground last month attempting a Mexican wave from a turn. It might still be more entertaining to watch me fall over than spin

Moodhoops are pretty good but they are heavy. Have you played with a mood hoop yet? If I were to buy a hoop and have the extra money I'd go for the Astral Atomic Hoop. They are upwards of 300 dollars though. I have a Troohoop and I wouldn't purchase from them again. They are a good company but there isn't a switch and I'm not too impressed with the visuals. You will have no problems taking it into centerroo Glad to see another hooper on board! Oh and chest hooping will come as to you as quickly as you want, it's just practice practice practice.

Hey Hey everyone! This was the most recent hooping thread I found.....there's a few oldies floating around out there.
Anywho, I have wanted to start hooping for awhile now. Because I'm not living "at home" right now, it'd be much easier for me to get a travel hoop (I've been looking at the ones from Hoopnotica). My question is: can I use a travel hoop to learn on? Or should I get some experience with a regular hoop, then purchase a travel one?
I'm thinking that it'll be a pain in the ass to take the full hoop on planes. Or am I wrong on that?
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

It is a pita to take a full hoop on planes. You can learn on a travel hoop. When you get to where you are going just take it out of your bag, connect it and lay it on the floor. You can also put it in sunlight to make it regain it's shape faster.
The only thing that MIGHT be a problem is. Beginner hoops are usually very big and heavy. If you are between say two places you might just buy a hoop for each one or buy a beginners hoop for the place you are at the most and do on the body tricks/hooping with it. When you travel take your travel hoop and focus on off the body.
On the body is waist hooping, shoulder hooping, barrel rolls, knee hooping, shoulder rolls etc Off the body would be vortex, lasso, prayer, witches brew, weaves, isolations, iso pops
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Appreciate the guidance!
I've hooped with those hoopnotica travel hoops and they are really light and kind of small for a beginner. Look on Etsy. There are tons of collapsible hoops, and you can get a good, big, beginner one. Save some cash and support small business. I used to sell hoops on Etsy, and there was lots of competition. You'll be able to find whatever you like and the hoop makers can help you figure out the right size and weight for you. (ps I've also flown with my collapsible hoops with no problem)
And second post in a row - I've been working on contact staff for awhile now, and let me tell ya, it hurts a lot more to bonk yourself in the head with a staff than it does with a hoop. I hate being a beginner again.

I actually looked for your etsy site first when I was looking around. It wasn't available. Now I know why.
My problem is that I can't really have anything shipped to me where I am right now, without a fairly big hassle anyway. So I could definitely look at smaller shops, and get it shipped to Canada. But then I'd have to bring it on a plane. That's why I've been scouting for portable options. I think I'm just going to wait until I'm back in Canada for the summer. I'll order a heavier/beginner one, have it there and play with it for a few months. Then I can get a collapsible one for my return to Mexico in the fall.

Cinnamon- Check out Hoopbug. She's local here but she might be able to make you a heavy thick one and ship it to you. Then you can gift it when you leave because you will probably be ready to go down in size by the summer. You can also get the supplies and make them yourself, just google it.

Actually, never mind. PM me your address and I'll send you a hoop. It will probably be after Christmas but I'll get one out to you. Just give it away when you are ready to leave. I love to see people getting into hooping

I just started hooping with my girlfriend's hoop. I can barely do anything, but it is a lot of fun to practice! I'm glad I saw all of these tips and places to go to learn! One of my friends that is coming to Roo with me uses LED gloves. He's amazing at it. Hopefully by the time Roo comes we can collaborate something
me and the bf don't really know how to spin poi properly but he's more natural at it than me... He bought a set for $100 or so and they're really awesome. I want to learn to hoop and get an LED hoop too. He can spin poi and I can hoop at the same time...but first I have to learn how before investing over $100 in an LED hoop!
I haven't looked at theirs, but I know orbitlightshow has some I've thought of getting. I think the only ones I had were from ebay, but they broke several months ago, so time to get new ones.
This will be my 5th Bonnaroo and I am a hoop!!! Visit my YouTube channel for hoop videos and stuff! Www.youtube.com/user/andreuph/videos I love to make Roo/hooper/flow arts friends :-)
