Haha, last time I posted here it was because I was excited about a new hoop, and I'm posting again for the same reason. My friend made me one. Its got a sparkly space background with pink and gold accents. So excited to see this beauty in person when I pick it up on Thursday!
Also, update on my LED hoop I bought. It broke. I was playing with it when I was tripping, woke up the next morning and it was missing the lock button. Not sure when/how that happened but yea. Thank goodness it has a warranty!
I posted this in Random Thoughts too, but seeing this thread bumped I figure I'll put it here too, which is where it belongs anyways.
I just got introduced to this 8 ring manipulation thing last night and I am completely fascinated by it. I can't quite figure out what they're doing. I can't tell if it's all ISOs or if its finger work or each pair of 2 hoops are actually connected to eachother? I'm so perplexed. Anyone either familiar with this or can tell what they're doing? (also, if you're friends with me on FB, you get to enjoy this video twice, sorry.)

Rotate a Frisbee in your in your by rolling the rim between your thumb and index finger, same concept. The rings are light and move together because the outward force remains equal and the finger the two rings are being pressed into acts as an axle.
You could join the rings but you could do better tricks with them separated simply by moving them smoothly.

I saw some of these at Wanee. They're a figure 8 shape cut out of wood, I think. Very cool.
Well I'm definitely bringing my 2 sets of poi; Podpoi and Flowlights. Saturday Late night is where all my LED equipment will get busted out (probably friday too haha)
I'm excited to use my new Poly day hoop from HoopSupplies - I needed a travel hoop and this one disconnects into 4 pieces plus an additional small 5th piece to adjust size (so clever!) - and it's 5/8ths - my preferred tubing thickness!
I also impulse purchased a new LED hoop from Hollistic Hooping at a festival, but I could barely use it there because the batteries were dead and I had no place to charge it... so I'm excited to break it out at 'roo!

After years and years of being in awe of the incredible 'Roo hoopers, I finally decided to pick up a hoop myself. I was too weird about being so new to hooping last year, so I didn't bring any down to the farm. This year, however, I'm not only bringing my day hoops down, but I'm also bringing my LED FutureHoop that I was lucky enough to receive for Christmas. I'm so so so excited to bring them with me. Seriously, it's a hooping at 'Roo love story nine years in the making.
Hey flow artists! There's a girl on Facebook that had her Evoke hoop stolen at Waka ($400+ LED hoop for those that don't know). So be sure to keep your fancy toys under wraps at Roo. That's a quick way to have your fest ruined.
^Good point! If someone wants to borrow your hoop and you let them, don't take your eyes off of them. I've had a friend get a hoop stolen that way. It sucks to think about people being like that at our home, but it happens. If I'm not carrying mine around with me I keep them locked in my trunk. They're expensive and our lives, so stay on top of your hoops!

Hey y'all this year was my third bonnaroo and my second year hooping. I've been searching everywhere for videos and picture of me but all I've come across is one picture! I was jamming hard at white denim, break science, skillex, Elton, and ice cube haha if anyone saw me around with my future hoop let me know! I'm also really new at this info roo thing.
Good luck with that. I've have tons of pics and video taken of me at different festivals over the years and I've never found a single one. A couple of guys here said they saw a clip of me in a Wakarusa video once, but I haven't seen it.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that Fly Free Fest (Oct 10-12 in LaFayette, GA) is looking for flow artists to perform at this year's fest.
"CALLING ALL FLOW ARTISTS!!! Over the next few weeks we will be accepting applications to perform on the official Fly Free Flow Team this year. If you know anyone who would be a good addition to the Fly Free experience please share this with them and have them sign up! Including but not limited to: Hooping, Dancers, Aerials, Contact Jugglers, Martial Arts, Flow toys, etc...We look forward to seeing your talents!"
Dude, this time of year sucks. I wish I lived west not only for all the camps they have but the weather too. I'm pretty sure I broke a light on my ceiling fan yesterday and I definitely messed up my blinds in my bedroom. I also broke my iPad screen when my hoop got away from me and sent the iPad face down on concrete.
Also, anyone ever seen buugengs in person? They look cool as fuck. I've seen a lot of people posting about them in the unity group on Facebook. YouTube it.
I'm trying to decide if I want to bring my future hoop with me or not. I know lots of people do, but I don't want anything to happen to it. I took it to ACL, but that's a city fest and I didn't have to worry about in the heat or getting stolen or anything.
Any advice on whether or not it'd be bad to bring and leave in the car when not in use? I'm afraid the heat will hurt it, but I also don't want to carry it around all weekend.
Oh. And if I do bring it (or my other LED which doesn't collapse so I'm not sure if I will bring it for space reasons) how many batteries do you bring? Do you have a way to charge them at camp? This is my first year actually bringing hoops with me.
I would not leave an LED hoop in the car. That heat gets serious, and could definitely damage it. I usually leave mine in the tent under some blankets, with the tent windows cracked. Tents get hot, but not as hot as the car. And I know it doesn't sounds secure, but I just count on being lost in the sea of tents. If you are really unsure, don't bring anything you are unwilling to lose.
As for batteries, my hoop is a plug-in rechargeable. It gets roughly 5 hrs of use out of a charge. I use it here and there, but not constantly. I usually charge it in my car once over a 4 day fest.

I guess I could leave it in the tent. I've never had my tent broken into, but it does happen. I've also never had anything of value in it to be too concerned about theft. I really want to bring it, but I worry about my baby. Lol.
What hoop do you have that's a plug in? Do you like it? I almost got a Hyper Ion instead of my future hoop but decided agianst it, I'm pretty sure those are plug ins.

I agree with not leaving an LED hoop in the car. What I recommend doing is looking at a tutorial to make your own LED hoop (it'll cost around 60$ and you can customize it to an extent) that way you don't lose a $200+ hoop. I suck at hands on things / don't trust myself to solder anything, so I had a friend make me one and we got to make it collapsable, and it's not as expensive of an investment if it does get stolen. I also bring several spare batteries whenever I go to festivals because you never know if or when you'll be able to recharge it!

My friend brought her future hoop and a cheaper led last year. She was too nervous to bring the future into Centerroo so left it in the tent. Laid flat underneath the blankets on her air mattress. There weren't any warping issues. She then used her other hoop at shows.
The only time I've ever had anything stolen from my tent was the only time the door was left wide open. We've always had pretty good neighbours and we all keep an eye out for each other.
Personally, I think I would be too worried about it. But I'm a worrier.
Edit: To add, last year was my first year I brought my hoops. I had access to a pretty awesome car charger and I brought two batteries. I'd switch them out periodically. I'm looking at getting another hoop that just takes regular AA batteries. In that case I'd bring like....8. If absolutely hate to run out.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

I made mine myself. I used to sell them on Etsy, but stopped a few years ago. I also have an Astral Flow Wand, and don't think twice about leaving that in a tent, but it's smaller, and your average thief probably wouldn't even know what it is.

My cheaper LED from Electric Lifestylz is awesome because it takes both a lithium battery and regular batteries. Unfortunately I've had issues with it. The button for the push lock came off like 3 months after I got it, and just a few weeks ago half the hoop shorted out. But I'm still under warranty for it till next month so I'm sending it back to get fixed. Again.
I don't trust myself to make my own LED hoop. I'm not handy like that and I'm really bad at figuring stuff like that out. I may get another cheapish (hopefully collapsible) LED to bring too. I'm a worrier too and as much as I love my future hoop I'd be afraid of something happening to it. Like, not even theft but me being stupid and doing something to it. We'll see. June is still a long way away but I'm just still so excited!!!!!

I have a hoop from Electriclifestyles too and I'm not super happy with it. I brought it to Roo last year and the battery life was terrible. Now it's not working at all. I'm going to check the warranty and sent it back.
Personally I'd be too worries about my FutureHoop. But I'm also too poor to buy one. So what do I know but between the heat and my varying levels of sobriety I'd break it for sure.
