Yeah, as cool as LED hoops are, I'm probably leaving my expensive one (Helix) at home. I'll just take a hoop or 2 for some hoop workshops. I don't want to worry about theft, breaking, and/or carrying it around for hours.
I've heard horrible things about Electric Lifestylz from a lot of people. I would definitely not buy one of their hoops, no matter how cheap it is. You get what you pay for, I guess.
Side note. If you want a hoop for nighttime, but don't want to risk your LED. A cheap alternative is to put a bunch of glowsticks inside a natural HDPE or polypro hoop. You may have to sneak the glowsticks in though

It was an impulse purchase last year pre-Roo. I have a Moodhoop that I love but it's a 38 and waaaay too heavy.
My EL hoop was a better weight, but the LED lights weren't that bright and terrible battery life. Definitely get what you pay for. It's nice to bring places (when it works) cause inevitably someone always wants to play with it. I'd never trust an aunt full of wine with an expensive hoop
I've thought about stuffing my polypro with glow sticks! It's a great "worst case" scenario.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Hey everyone!? This question could be posted a number of places, but I love this thread
I recently bought a hoop and am worried it won't make it here (Ontario, Canada) in time for Roo. I'm debating on having it shipped to the Motel I'm staying at in Murfreesboro. Thoughts? It seems sketchy, but otherwise I doubt it will clear customs yet. It hasn't even left the manufacturer. I've also heard that you can get items shipped to coach bus stations. Has anyone does this??
As I'm typing this, it all seems too risky. But I'm interested in folks thoughts on this.

What kind of hoop is it? It's an LED I'd say no. But if it's any hoop under $100 and is shipped UPS (or maybe even USPS) there should be automatic insurance on it if anything happens to it. I personally wouldn't do it, but I've also never had anything shipped anywhere other than a residence. If you could maybe get in contact with the manufacturer and see when they expect to ship or that'd help a lot.
Edit: also have them require a signature if you get it sent to the hotel. Then you'd know who they left it with.

It's an LED. There is insurance on it, but I'm not going to risk it. I've contacted the manufacturer and asked their opinion. They said they'd get back to me with some dates and options. Love Citiva Creationz so far.
Thanks for the quick input (that's what she said?).

That's probably a good call. I would feel apprehensive sending it somewhere else, especially an LED that could be broken just by dropping the box wrong or something.
And thanks to you I'm looking at hoops now... I wasn't going to hoop at Roo this year. I get embarrassed and I didn't want to carry my hoops around. But after not having my hoops at Shaky Knees and having hoop envy all weekend I'm definitely bringing them. I want a new LED anyways, and a new poly.... Hmmmm
Off topic, but anyone know of anywhere [reliable] that resizes LED hoops? I got my future hoop early on and it's a 36". I usually hoop with a 30-33" now and I feel all weird with it. I guess Larry Lights doesn't do it anymore and he was the only one I knew of.

You're welcome!!! i also get embarrassed hooping in crowds, but you get over it quickly at Bonnaroo. I definitely did. Hopefully you will too! Hoop envy can be all encompassing sometimes
Ideally I would get my hoop resized, but couldn't find anywhere affordable. Larry and Citiva were the only two I knew of and neither do it anymore. My first LED was purchased for me, and it's a 38! It's so heavy and unmanageable!!

My first LED was a 38" also. It's not heavy, but it's from Electric Lifestylez and the weight on it is all off and it rattles. I just don't like it. I'm eyeing this make your own hoop option through both citiva & Ruby Hoops. Ruby is cheaper but has less lights. I think I'm going to get another poly through Colorado Hoops & maybe an LED through Citiva. I have a misleading amount of money in my bank account currently, which really isn't helping. Haha.
I want to resize my LED hoop as well, but I think the most realistic option is to sell it to more of a beginner and just buy a new smaller LED hoop. *shrug*
Usually whoever made your LED hoop can also resize it if you email them. I remember hearing awhile back about someone who could resize most hoops. The Battery Dude maybe?
If you have some confidence in your skills, you can probably resize most hoops with very little new wiring, or none at all. Just pay close attention to what you snip and where to reattach (and have a soldering iron). It will void your warranty, though, so be careful. Also, you may not be able to switch to a smaller tubing if your innerds are too big.

I'm trying to decide if I want to bring my future hoop with me or not. I know lots of people do, but I don't want anything to happen to it. I took it to ACL, but that's a city fest and I didn't have to worry about in the heat or getting stolen or anything.
Any advice on whether or not it'd be bad to bring and leave in the car when not in use? I'm afraid the heat will hurt it, but I also don't want to carry it around all weekend.
Oh. And if I do bring it (or my other LED which doesn't collapse so I'm not sure if I will bring it for space reasons) how many batteries do you bring? Do you have a way to charge them at camp? This is my first year actually bringing hoops with me.
I'm bringing my smart hoop and plan on leaving it in my car with the windows cracked and a visor on the windshield. Last year I kept my day hoops in the tent, and they were fine but for expensive these smarthoops are, I want it locked up. An a different note, anyone know of a meetup? Last year there was a bunch of us at the Ferris wheel Thursday evening.

I got my hoop!! It came today!!!!! Ahhhh it's the most beautiful (expensive) thing I've ever bought. I'm so in love. I literally just sat on the ground gazing adoringly at it. Sigh.
I found a lot of fellow hoopers around the Solar Stage last here. It seemed whenever I hung out there it was shady and hoopy

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that flows/hoops/pois/etc. Watching you guys always puts my trips going in the right direction. I love you guys
