The pat down is fine but just remember that you are in a public park in downtown Louisville. It is not private property. Just don't be an idiot and you will be fine.
I have a group of 8 staying at the Galt House coming in on Friday afternoon. We will probably be going to Headliners on Friday late night since we love the idea of the Trinity of Jam for free. On Saturday we will be at Cheese at the Palace. Getting very excited for this short week. It is the start of a nice run for us. I come home from Forecastle and have to work for 2 days then heading to Chicago for the 3 nights of Phish! I love summer.
Hi everyone! I'm making the trip by myself this year so I'm hoping to maybe meet up with some friendly people while I'm in town. I haven't read all the way through the thread, but is there any preset meet ups planned or is it kinda of a play it by ear thing?
Hey folks, PM me your first name and phone number so I can add you to the GroupMe text chat we'll have going. We'll be organizing on there for breakfasts, meeting up for shows, and of course the all important after parties at bars in Louisville. They're open till 4am!

So, Friday night Touch Sensitive (Sydney dj) will be playing an unofficial afterparty at the best dance bar in town - Zanza Bar(Zbar). If you guys like to dance to good music and cheap drinks than I suggest ya check it out. PLUS, THE RUMOR AROUND TOWN IS THERE'S A VERY GOOD POSSIBILITY BOYZ NOIZE MAY STOP IN HIMSELF!!!

Already decided I am doing Zanzabar for Friday night and Mag Bar (Magnolia Bar) Saturday night. As a local, these are already my two favorite places to dance my ass off and with all the festival people in town it should be even better.
Folks, you will not find better after parties and on Saturday night our very own BANSHEEBEAT will be playing Mag Bar!

Thanks for the heads up about Zbar. I didn't have anything to do Friday night but it seems I do now.
And yes everyone should be at MagBar Saturday night. I play 11-1 so for those like me who don't like the Black Keys you now have something to do. To those who do like the Keys you can jet over afterward and catch the end of my set and then get down to all the other killer DJs that will be playing.
Oh and it only costs $5. MagBar has super cheap drinks too.

Well my cousin is a local dj, and while he's not playing Friday his boys are. I got the word from him and nothing is a guarantee yet, but the ok dj's are on the bill and they tend to make crazy shit happen here. I'm gonna be there hoping that Boys Noize does show up, but either way its gonna be dope. Hope to see and meet some of yall there! And for the record, the rumor I heard was he might show up, I took that as he may just kick it, but it wouldn't be much of a surprise for em to find room on stage for him if he ends up stopping by.

This year, the Forecastle Incident • Bluegrass and Beyond promises to be just that - a raucous exploration of all that bluegrass was, is, and is becoming! You won't want to miss the event hosted by The String Cheese Incident, feat. Sam Bush, Ronnie McCoury and Jason Carter (of The Travelin' McCourys) and Andy Thorn (of Leftover Salmon)! Catch them at the Boom Stage on Sunday at 5:45PM!
How has the weather been down there in Louisville? I ask because we've got a lot of rain in central Ohio, and if there was a festival this weekend around here (say All Good) it quickly would turn into a muddy mess.
I've been stalking the weather online. Seems like there's been rain just about every day, but tomorrow and the rest of the weekend will be dry. And low to mid-80's! So freaking excited

Up until Monday it had been raining for like 2 weeks straight. This week so far has been clear, just really humid. It looks like there isn't much of a chance for rain this weekend, but you never know here.

Thanks for the response, and I certainly hope it stays clear down there through the weekend. It's been non-stop rain up here. In fact, we're under another thunderstorm watch right now. If the weather patterns don't change soon, All Good folks are going to be camping in mud next weekend.

I know this has been talked about a few times, but does anyone want to give their top (3 or so) recommendations on places to eat / drink?? Any must-try recommendations would be fantastic too.

I mean it depends on what kind of food you want. Pizza,Ethiopian, Cuban, sushi, tapas, burgers, steak, whatever. Louisville has it all.
Drinking is the same. Just throw a rock in any direction and chances are you'll end up at a good bar.
For any of my fellow Sushi fans: Sapporo (highly recommend The Top Secret Roll, Flaming Lips Roll, and Surf & Turf Roll) or Oishii Sushi. I've been to most sushi places in town worth going to and I consider these two to be the best.
Pizza: Papalinos and Wicks are both great. Bearno's is solid and it's right by the fest, and they're giving festival goers a discount.
Other good places to eat: El Mundo is a great mexican place. Wagner's Pharmacy for great diner food. Flanagans is a great irish place with an awesome beer selection and good food as well. Dragon King's Daughter is a really good Asian-western fusion type place.
I'm not going to recommend any of the fine dining places around town because I can't afford to eat at any of them. So I won't pretend to know which ones are best, but I will say there are a ton of options in that department all over town.

Tongus Oiishi is definitely the best sushi in town.
And I'd say Papalino's is the best pizza. Queen of Sheba is great if you wanna try Ethiopian. Santa Fe is probably my favorite place in town, best mexican food ever. Vietnam Kitchen is amazing. As is Little India Cafe. Check out Bunz if you want a great burger. Juanita's Burger Boy is the best diner you'll ever have (breakfast, burgers, grilled cheese, whatever).
A lot of those aren't really close to downtown unfortunately. I honestly am not familiar with a lot of restaurants downtown because I'm never there.
Thanks for the heads up about Zbar. I didn't have anything to do Friday night but it seems I do now.

Congrats. Never know what could happen for gigs like this. A buddy of mine who goes by Fine Peduncle had Brian Eno show up at one of his shows at Moogfest a few years ago.

Thanks! I'm really excited. This is by far my biggest gig yet, even though I just open (2 hour opening slot isn't bad though). Doubt anyone like Eno will show. Though I did catch Jim James at a show I played once.
I'll throw in my two cents on places to eat and drink closish to downtown: Sushi -- Oishi is my favorite, Sapporo, Dragon King's Daughter Pizza -- Garage is my current favorite and has been since it opened. If you go to Garage, my favorite drinks are Lavender Vodka Lemonade and Gin Gimlet. I don't eat meat, but my husband loves Bearnos and Papalinos. Finer -- Decca!!! Love the ravioli! Also still a fan of the Bristol. Bar food -- Holy Grail for food and beer, Serios for every beer you've never imagined and the food is really good too, especially these cheese wonton things. Against the Grain has a great Malt right now, too. And I think their bloody mary is the best in the city, hands down. They smoke their vodka and make their own mix. Brunch -- That Place on Goss is my current favorite, but love Highland Morning and Wild Eggs, too. I almost have a favorite everything, so if there's something in particular you're looking for, send a message on group me!

I can suggest a few places as well. Mostly I agree with everyone so far.
Pizza - Papalino's is my personal favorite but there isn't a pizza place in Louisville that I wouldn't suggest. Beer - Definitely recommend the Louisville Beer Store (on Market close to the fest), Against the Grain (good food and beer and on Main St. attached to the baseball stadium), Sergios (over 1300 beers the food is only okay though except the cheese wontons are amazing!) and the Holy Grale Brunch - Garage Bar could also be thrown into this category as they have a fantastic brunch menu.
My favorite burger place in town is Game (about 5-10 minutes from downtown) but is only open from 5-10. If anyone is coming in tonight I would highly suggest it and would especially recommend the Kangaroo Burger! Can be somewhat pricey depending on what kind of "game" you want but who can get a burger for as cheap as $7 and a basket of fried that would feed 4 people for $4. I have lived here my entire life so I can give suggestions for about any type of place as well if anyone is looking for something in particular.
Due to illness, we will unfortunately not be able to perform our upcoming July tour dates, including the Camp Bisco and Forecastle festivals. We deeply apologize and tried our best to make it work with an alternate set, but ultimately we didn't feel like we were giving fans what they deserved from an Animal Collective show. We are working on rescheduling the non-festival dates as soon as possible. Again we send our sincerest apologies to fans anticipating these shows, especially considering the cancellations earlier this year.
