Do they do day passes? I didn't see an option on their ticketing page. I'd consider doing a day pass if some combination of Kendrick, Primus, Alt-J, Earl, and Freedia end up on the same day.
Hopefully Lettuce is the same day as Primus. Daypass'd.
Bingo. I'm going to be greedy and hope STS9, Gravity A, and Freedia are also on the same day.
Hopefully they don't use the same security as STS9 Jazzfest at this venue. Not so fun seeing kids get yanked out of the crowd the whole show. Disco Donnie didn't put this on so hopefully not!
Def want some Freedia.
Jabco, I see you're doing the Anders shows. Ginus and I are going to both of those. We're gonna try to be up front for both. rage!
Congrats to you for getting Radiators tix, about everyone I know got shut out.

Yeah, I think it will be different. Winter Circle and Huka folks are running it. Those ampersand amateurs have nothing to do with Buku. Hail Saban.
I wouldn't say amateur. Disco Donnie was the guy behind the State Palace rave scene in the 90's. Anything with his name on it seems to be LEO city nowadays though.....hmmmm...

security was fine at buku last year. a few cops, but they were talking to the kids and it was all good.
I'm loving the lineup. might not be able to make it for work reasons, probably won't know if I can go until week of, and then it will be Saturday only at best.
Yes, I am hoping that Lettuce and Primus are both on saturday. Everything else is just gravy. They said that this is just the "initial lineup" too. I'm curious as to how many and how big any of the additions are.

Fuck yeah. I'm probably hyping, but this has potential to be up there for top shows of the year for me. I'm sure we'll bump into each other. Freaking Lee Oskar. Hah.
I had no idea this festival even existed! Anyone who has been in the past willing to fill me in on what its like, as far as crowd size, venue locations (like what does it mean when it says float den), and what else goes on other than music? Thanks
For 2012, ~it was pretty much all EDM. ~there were not as many acts. ~it was on saturday and sunday (it's friday and saturday for 2013). ~there were only two venues with an afterparty at The Republic So 2013 is only it's second year existing and they added 2 more venues, and I heard that the one called the riverfront is supposed to be on the actual riverboat. Here's some info on the other venues: thebukuproject.com/info/the-grounds/
postjack might be the only inforooer that went this year. I have a feeling that it's going to be way different for 2013 as far as crowd size and the average age of people there might increase a bit.

I didn't go last year, but looks like the float den is the stage inside Mardi Gras World. "Float den" is just a reference to the warehouses in which krewes keep their floats in the offseason, but you probably knew that. I can picture exactly where that power plant main stage is between Tchoup and the river. I'm thinking the 3rd Ballroom stage is in one of the convention center rooms or something.
The Anders shows will def be in the top of the year. I'm assuming you did the Anders/Luther show at Tips last December? I caught the one the night before in Mobile and it was a top 3 show of the year easily.
Hell no, I blew it - missed that show last year visiting my parents on the MS Coast. Been mad ever since. Damn, I love some Eric Bolivar, too. Maybe the best NOLA drummer right now not named Stanton Moore.

King summed it up nicely, I'll add a few more things off the top of my head.
-As I said before, security was lax. I personally didn't see any sketchiness going on anyway.
-It was obviously a mostly young crowd, but everyone was friendly and respectful.
-There was one large outdoor stage, and one indoor stage
-The sound at the indoor stage was AWFUL. For most of the acts it was like one big bass note. I love bass, but this was too much. The indoor stage actually had the soundboard at the side of the stage instead of in the crowd like it should be. This pissed off some of the band's sound people, and obviously made it hard to get the mix right, but the sound was worse than just a bad mix
-The sound outside, on the other hand, was perfect. The backdrop of the main stage was an abandoned mill, which was pretty cool. The venue is also on the river, I spent a lot of time just staring at the water and chilling, it was nice.
-The food was decent for a festival. There were vegan options.
-Bathrooms were portalets, no lines.
-The venue (Mardi Gras World) is tucked away at the end of Convention Center Blvd in the Warehouse/Arts district, just a ways down the road from the Sugar Mill. You can stay in the French Quarter and walk there (I stayed at the Sheraton on Canal) but it will be a little bit of a hike. Also, once you walk under the interstate, things can be a little New Orleans sketchy. Its not necessarily unsafe, but I wouldn't advise walking alone, which is what I did. Luckily there were a few groups of concert goers walking as well, and I just attached myself to their groups. For a shorter walk it would be better to book a hotel on the riverside of the CBD/Downtown. Or of course you can take cabs. Cabs also lineup outside the festival afterwards, I took a cab home the second night.
-Crowds were big enough to have a good energy, but it was definitely not crowded. My understanding is Buku lost money last year, but that is normal for a first year fest. Excited to see them step up their game this year.
-The music was fantastic. The headliners were great: Diplo, Avicii, and Skrillex were all lots of fun. The smaller acts were also delightful, I was very psyched to catch Purity Ring, Holy F**k, and Mord Fustang, among others.
If you are a fan of the lineup I highly recommend it. The sound issues were my only gripe, otherwise its a cool venue with great music and great people, in the greatest city.
I'm know one of dudes from Winter Circle, I'll should run into him at Anders this weekend, I'll tell him what you said about sound at the indoor stage.
Hopefully Primus will be outdoors!!
My girl doesn't think she will be able to swing Coachella and wants to do VIP for this. $300 ain't bad considering there is an open bar that we can wreck, merch, front of stage etc
