Hey Carp44 The camping area next to the river looks a little slopey. I don't wanna wake up in river after rolling town embankment with tent and friends. What gives?
The levee has a really steep hill that sort of seperates the stadium from where the camping is. It levels out at the bottom of the hill and extends out to the river, you will be litterally camping on the river, which brings up something I never even considered. The camping area COULD be completely flooded with any significant amount of rain this year, and I really cant imagine what they would do if that did happen. It is a rarity anymore, but the camping area is IN the river, not ON the river from time to time.

Yeah I was worried too. I picked up a couple and there were a couple people at work buying when I was. That shows you how weak the music scene is around here. Pathetic if you think about it.

Im guessing no more than 2 weeks before its sold out? At least some people that would have missed out and find out about it in a few days can get in.
There are tickets on eBay for 400-500 each already, so there will be a buying frenzy once the sellout happens.

What do you think they'll do for parking? Parking in St. Augustine is a bitch in general. It would have been really cool if they could have arranged to do something in the field at the fort. I'm guessing the National Park Service isn't down with that though.
News on St Aug: I just talked to one of the key guys from the amphitheater and he said they are very close to being sold out. He said they are, in fact, selling 25,000. I asked him how they plan on fitting that many people and he said - and I quote - "yeah, man, that would be epic!"
.....
The most that's ever been in that field was 6000 for 3 Doors Down.
I have a feeling they made a mistake selling so many tickets.
Traffic is going to be comical. And parking. Whoa.
Lewes hasn't sold out yet. I wish I could afford that one, really.
HEy Carp, don't you think it would make more sense to camp at that park that is across the street from the Hobart Arena? I don't see them betting on the river bed being dry. Just over analyzing everything, like I always do.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

ITM, when I had the issues yesterday, I had not typed them out, but was playing with the buttons (RandomThoughts). Two of them did not translate when posted. I edited my post- deleting the words and clicking the button again and they worked at that point.

Ok, I got some pics of the Troy area. Someone kindly direct me to the easiest way to get them on the board though?
It has been so long I'm not even sure how I got my avatar on here and I'm obviously not the brightest when it comes to this sort of thing!
I saw they added more camping in "approved areas" I really think the more and more I consider this, it is going to be a giant clusterf*ck and I am seriously considering selling my tickets and just hitting an after party or two... besides I can sit in the river in my kayak and catch most of the show for free anyway... and that just sort of sounds better anyway than seeing a lot of bands i have already seen just because it is close...
sorry went off on a bit of a ramble there, but you WILL NOT be able to drive your car to your campsite... so I dont know how they plan on shuttling people and their gear, or if it is just going to be an out of control land grab scenario....
like i said, the kayak is seeming more and more inviting

I would imagine the park will be used in some capacity, but I doubt it will be for camping... I dont know how to explain it if you aren't from Troy. The park isn't really "open" though. What I mean is, there isn't much open area that you would be able to camp in. The basketball / tennis courts take up a good portion of the park. My guess is they will shuttle people either to Duke park, or the Eagles campground once the levee fills up. If you aren;t on the levee good luck doing anything in troy after the music stops.. anywhere I can think that they would shuttle people to camp is going to be really far away from anything to do outside of the campgrounds
I've been recruited to work this show's Troy stop now and have picked up a few bits of info along the way... here is what I've got so far...The camping is by the river, with over flow starting at the football practice fields, then cemetery, then park. Everyone will be shuttled to their campsite on buses and there will be golf carts ( not sure if free or not ) to help shuttle you to campsites...
I've also heard that George Clinton will be playing downtown Troy on Thursday evening, and The Flaming Lips will be having an as yet unannounced midnight Friday show at Hobart arena. The FLips show will be a separate ticket, available to purchase only by those with festival tickets.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
That does seem to be correct and last conversation I had about Flips was in late July. Ill know more after my meeting this weekend but looks like I was wrong on that. Hell I could be wrong about Clinton as well. I'm just relaying what I hear. I'm admittedly more useful for logistic ?s and ?s about Troy in general. Sorry to get any hopes up and ill post an update if I get one
