I enjoyed his show. No matter how much somebody else disliked him...it does take away from the fact I enjoyed it. And the other way around. Pretty simple.

What did other people think of the show? I thought it was a let down. His voice was off for most of the performance and he seemed to be forgetting words (and at least one repeated verse). I'm not sure if he was drunk or what, but after loving the album so much, his live performance did not live up to it at all. He seemed to improve a bit toward the end of the set, but not by much.

I noticed him changing some lyrics on purpose (mentioning voting for Obama lol), so maybe he wasn't forgetting words but doing that? Not sure. I thought the show was great but it was my first time seeing him. I thought it was really entertaining and liked his stage presence.

It was a great set, it just felt a little slow. I shouldn't have expected anything different though - the pace of the album is slow, too.
I was halfway through the tent on the right side and it sounded fantastic, but one or two more "I'm Writing A Novel"-esque songs would've helped. Like I said, I shouldn't have been expecting anything different but it was 10:30 at night. In future Roo appearances, he might benefit from a daytime slot.
I had a blast either way, and the FJM banter is always great. "Hey Bonnaroo, how does it feel to be asked how you you're doing every hour or so?" (or something like that, I don't remember)

"I'm going to play you one of my mp3s now. I wrote it about my feelings."
I thought this set was fucking great. His voice sounded fantastic to me (was right next to the soundboard) and his literal "drop mic" moment at the end of the set was a badass Roo moment in a weekend chock full of 'em. Loved the new tune too!

Someone took me to this show and I had never heard him before. I thought he was absolutely hilarious and his dance moves were some the best a white man can pull off. Would definitely see him again
This show definitely did not disappoint. The dude just gets so much into his performance. I was hoping he was gonna smash his guitar when he swung it over his head haha. I can not wait for the recording as I really enjoyed the new song. Also, I couldn't help but pronounce Bonnaroo "Baneighroo" the rest of the weekend.

I loved the set and performance, and the only complaint that I have about it was how jam packed the tent was and the odd upward slope to the stage (I can't recall if it has always been like that) that made it extremely difficult for even averaged height people to see.

I honestly don't see why it would be hard to move a little earth so that the ground slopes down to the stages and the tent stages be raised a foot. If done right, then they would quell some of the screens for tents complainers too.

although i wasnt able to see his slick moves as well, i was ok with the slope in the back right corner because it gave me and my friends more than enough room to jam out.

I saw his set at Sasquatch this year too and loved him both times. The songs sound really full and vibrant live, plus he's basically a comedian. The dancing is hilarious and it's all part of his quirky character. I think the antics just add to the already bizarre nature of Fear Fun.
"It's hard to say whether seeing Kellz backed by Jim James and his lion's mane hairdo or Billy Idol rocking out next to John Oates and his soul patch was weirder to watch. Let's just say both were beautifully bizarre sights to behold."

The show was a big disappointment to me. It was my third time seeing him live. He was not into the show at all and I felt like he just wanted to get it over with. My friends and I waited and eventually got to the front by the rail, and my best friend could not believe the screaming girls going nuts for Josh. She eventually ended up leaving his set three songs in. I promise to the people who also disliked the show, go to an intimate show of his, you will NOT be disappointed. And if you did like the show, expect to be mind blown. I'll be going to my 4th in October in Dallas (he just keeps coming back!). My friend talked to Josh before his set to tell him we were big big fans that go to all of his shows in Dallas and that we were currently waiting to be in the front for his set, and after he walked over to me and I said "Hi! We are big fans that go to all your shows in Dallas!" and he pointed to my friend and said "I know! she told me! Thank you guys!" and then I asked for a hug and he gave me one and said thank you, and then ran off before more people came to ask for more photos. I felt bad because some people just came up and asked for a photo, ran away, and didn't even say thank you. Josh doesn't like the attention, it's the reason he quit Fleet Foxes. I don't think he expected the attention Father John Misty is getting. Anyways, I still love Josh Tilman, especially his early work. If you love Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty, don't miss out on Josh's older albums, especially Year In The Kingdom.

This is awesome:
From an unrelated recent live review that mentions the phone prop:
In what I consider to be one of the greatest moments of irony in concert history Father John Misty called for a new stage prop...a giant cell phone framing him in the center. He stated that this was clearly the favorite view of artists for concert goers these days.
I've seen FJM twice playing solo acoustic, but I've somehow missed out on every chance to see him play a normal show with the band. But I have tickets for his show in Maine next month and I'm super excited. And that cover of "The Suburbs" is one of the best covers of the year

He's gonna skyrocket up posters for next year after he gets done with this completely sold out tour and the albums of the year start coming out. He already has his next album written, too.
Maybe not quite a pre-healiner next year, but maybe.

No Not quite a pre-headliner. I feel like he's a little too niche to ever quite get there. I see him getting second to last on Which next year. Gary Clark Jr./Brandi Carlile spot.
