No Not quite a pre-headliner. I feel like he's a little too niche to ever quite get there. I see him getting second to last on Which next year. Gary Clark Jr./Brandi Carlile spot.
I can dig that spot for next year. Makes sense. I think him coming out with Florence for her sub-headlining set for Coachella probably helped too. And the more videos get passed around of his live show and how hilarious he is on stage, the more burn he'll get. Having stuff like this floating around doesn't hurt for those who think he's too folky or whatever the hell people might say about him.
Oh wait, did you say you haven't seen him with the band yet? You're in for a treat. It's a whole different ballgame from him solo.
The criticism I've heard of him is that his lyrics are too weird, and because they're such a central part of his music (and what really sets him apart), it's hard to be a fan if you can't dig the lyrics. That's another fantastic cover.
And yeah I've watched plenty of videos and am very much looking forward to finally getting the chance. I'm hoping he does another big round of touring before next summer so I can see him some more

I drug a group of ten people to Hangout and only a couple of them had heard of him before the show and they all said it was one of the best things they'd ever seen, so evidently, cool people will get it after seeing him. Smiley Wink tongue out face. And I'd like to find the people who said his lyrics are weird, cause they've wonderful. That makes me want to punch, and Santa's always a good boy.
Just reporting back after seeing Mr. Tillman tonight. God damn that was a good show. Easily one of my favorites of the year. I wish he'd played "Misty's Nightmares #1 and 2" but the set was so good that I can't complain too much. His stage presence is the perfect mix of theatricality and legitimate rocking out. While I'm really hoping he's at my fests (Roo and Newport Folk) next year, I'd much prefer another chance to see him in a club.

From my experience, he is much better in clubs than at festivals. Glad you had a good time and I hope he's at Roo next year and he tops his last Roo performance.

100%. Saw him at Osheaga on Sunday, and while it was the best set of the weekend, I couldn't help but wish I was in a dark, smaller venue.
If anyone else saw him at Lollapalooza, him playing a festival actually can be pretty awesome. His stage banter was top-tier comedy when he had huge corporate sponsors at his disposal. At one point he's mid-song and sees a flyover banner, and while the band continues to play he went on a 2 minute dissection of Trojan bare-skinned condoms. You can't get that in some rat-infested club.

I think that was one of my favorite moments of the weekend.
Also just gonna pitch this out there. I was far left, in back of a guy still wearing his Roo '15 wristband; he said he'd been there the last three years.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought he was the best set of Osheaga.

Would that happen to be any of you? Just curious.
Funny, no that wasn't me, but most definitely had the Roo bandanna on.

I have a free ticket for Father John Misty show tonight. Show is at the Madison theater in northern Kentucky. If anyone would like it please let me know! Really don't want the ticket to go to waste. Did I mention its free?

Show was fantastic last night! He really is hilarious. Nice to meet you Whereispassionpit. Sorry I had to run off so quick. Pit was fillin up quick and didn't want to lose out on a decent spot. Hopefully we can meet up again sometime. Here's to hoping FJM is on the roo 2016 lineup!
