I am kinda surprised there hasn't been a thread made about them yet. Out of the newer bands on the bill they are one of my most anticipated. Has anyone seen them live yet? If so, what did you think?

For me they win this years most unique sound award. It is so innovative yet classy at the same time. I can't wait to see them as the sun sets that first night.
I am just as excited for Alt-J as I was for Temper Trap in 2010. I think I'm going to try the same strategy and camp out at whatever tent they play Thursday all day on the rail. It was an amazing strategy in 2010 because those were some of the best shows I saw all weekend!

Been into this band for a little under a year now. My lady made a trip and saw them in Dallas and then Austin during the ACL weekend last year. She met them and they all signed a copy of An Awesome Wave for me with a little note attached. Really nice guys. Really good live show. We'll be going to see them in ATL next week at The Masquerade. These guys are the truth. Do not miss them at Bonnaroo.

I saw them last October and I loved them. There weren't a lot of people at the show so we were up close and personal. For being relatively new at that point, they were real tight. They don't jump around and run all over the stage but the music sounds so good live. I'm seeing them again on Monday - will report back on how they sound now that they've sort of "blown up."

This is the album I've listened to the most since the lineup drop. I can see these guys closing out That on Thursday, it would be a great way to end out the first evening.

They will probably be this year's band that gets really popular between when the lineup releases and when they play on Thursday. I think a lot of new people have discovered them because of the Bonnaroo lineup.

Is this in support of another band? I did not know they were already big enough to play venue sizes like The Tabernacle.

They're having to move to a 2,500 capacity theater in Milwaukee after they sold out two smaller venues in a short amount of time. They're pretty big man.

Had no idea. This just fully confirms for me that their Thursday tent is going to be a complete mess. I guess we better plan on sitting through the act before them if we want under that tent.

I'm happy this thread exists! I've really been digging these guys. I discovered them a few months ago, and am absolutely delighted that they're on the lineup!!! This is one of my most anticipated sets, and I think it will be an excellent beginning to the weekend if they play on Thursday.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Don't confuse the classy and classic. They are not mutually inclusive. Alt-J is classy as it fits into the (a) and (c) usages of definitions (3/4/5) of class. Almost anyone could probably refute usage (b) by citing lyrics but by the way that definitions work either (a) or (c) only will suffice. However, I would never use the words innovative and classic to describe the same thing but I could see how it was possibly read that way.
Not a melt, I enjoy semantics, syntax and grammar and I will continue to evolve intellectually in an effort to be a ... gooder word talker guy...?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I've been watching this pretty steadily.
I have lost track of how many times I have watched this. Listening to it right now. Definitely in my top 10 must see sets.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Alt J is the headliner for the CD102.5 Day in Columbus, and the show sold out in less than three hours (I know because I waited and missed getting tickets, pissing off my wife). These guys are building a following. As with the KC show, tics are going for way over face value on Stubhub.

This will be a huge Thursday show. I'm hoping that Django Django leads into this. For me that would be the most epic Thursday yet. (for reference Soja->Moon Taxi->Big G->fuzzy stupor is the bar I've set for this)

Somewhere (Amazon review or iTunes maybe) I read someone's comment that the singer sounds like an Adam Sandler Weekend Update song all through this album. Now I can't NOT hear it.
