I tried to see them at the Masquerade in Atlanta last week (or the week before? I have a heroin addict's sense of time...) but tickets were already being scalped for like $70 a week before the show. Which reminds me, I need to buy Phoenix tickets before they sell out.

I've given An Awesome Wave a fair chance and I'm not overly blown away. After the introductory couple of tracks I find the 7 tracks that follow those to be nothing special (really disliking Matilda) but I do find that the album finishes strong.

First, let me just say that the show last night was really good, but there were a few aspects of the show that I was hoping to discuss with others that have seen them live.
Alt-j obviously strives to replicate their album sound. An Awesome Wave was a very unique sounding album and I have no problem with them attempting to replicate the album in a straight-forward fashion(which they did very well). However, I think this also led to a bit of "uneasiness" throughout the crowd. Some people were dancing and wooing while others were more likely to stand and watch in awe at their technical abilities. Now I realize this happens at a lot of shows, and not everyone wants to dance, but I felt this was more attributed to the style of the music rather than the crowd mix. Going forward I would love to see if they decide to make the songs a little louder and upbeat to kind of foster a more dance-able environment.
Also, they teased a few "jam-outs" on some tracks that IMO would have really enhanced the show had they gone on longer than 10 seconds. Again, this was a great show and these are very minor complaints. Just interested to see how their live show will progress in the future.

I raged like a quacking monster and "watched in awe of their technical abilities" when they came to the Masquerade a couple weeks ago. It doesn't need to be one or the other.

To me at least, from where I was standing, I didn't really sense that uneasiness. The only people having issues that I saw were the totally wasted people, as they would just be randomly dancing to any part in the song. I noticed those Jam out moments and was hoping they would keep some of them going. Maybe Roo?
SoooOoOoOooo pumped for this set. They play true to the album order - which in their case is a blessing. Great band, been obsessed for months
They do?!? I was just saying to my gf that I would love to hear them play the album from beginning to end. So freaking excited!!! Despite having not heard of them until January, it is by far my favourite album of 2012.
I'm pretty excited to see them! They are a big part of why I even looked at the Bonnaroo line up this year. Roo had just never really been on my radar before. An Awesome Wave is one the first albums in a long time that I've sat down and listened to, beginning to end, on repeat. I couldn't get enough for the first month after I discovered them!

They most certainly do not, at least not when I saw them at Coachella.
They do open the set as the album opens, though - Intro, [Ripe & Ruin], Tesselate.

just started listening and they are amazing. An Awesome Wave is fantastic listening straight through, I love the flow and hope they do play at least some of the songs in order. either way I am so excited!

Their whole album "An Awesome Wave" is great. Can't wait to see more out of them and see them at roo. One thing that's bittersweet for me is that all their artists seem to be exactly the same more or less. I guess I can't expect much being that they don't have much to work with, but some improvisation or even covers would be cool. Oh well, still my favorite Thursday act.
