This is what happens when you lose your veteran Captain along with your top 5 (earth) scoring talent...
I don't think having two each of Neymar and Silva would have made a difference
Not saying that Brazil would have won, but there is no way they would lost 7-0. Silva was their glue on defense (and the team captain) and Neymar is Neymar. It's like losing Messi, Robben, or Ronaldo. The dude was the lynchpin to their offense.
I post this to illustrate the extent of the despair gripping the 5th largest country in the world. I'm not taking pleasure in the suffering of others. Hell, the Germans probably have their own word for that.

Literally one of the most unbelievable score lines ever. This game will go down in history no doubt.
Brazil looked good up until that first German goal, then they just crumbled. Brazil definitely needed this to hopefully get back on track. They've been playing piss-poor football for a while now. The team (with all their fouls, flops, and everything else) certainly deserved to lose, but I do feel for the Brazilian fans. I hope this shocks Brazil back into playing like they did back in '02.
Also in regards to German fans having to be wait to leave... that is 100% normal in football games like this. Whether Brazil won or lost. There were no riots, no violence, nothing like that. I have some friends in Brazil and they said it was one of the quietest nights they've seen. The media loves to fetishize violence.
And my favorite joke about the match:
"Most embarrassing semi since I watched Brokeback Mountain with my Dad"

<Frantically looking for a GIF of Ed McMahon shouting "HEY-OOO!">
I know that FIFA has a reputation of being insanely corrupt but how could Tim Howard not be a finalist for the Golden Gloves? I don't have much background in the sport so maybe I'm missing something.
