I'm really stoked about Death Cab...I dunno that I had actually expected it to happen. Modest Mouse hadn't been on my radar either, though it makes sense.
I think Spoon is really the biggest disappointment for me, but Frank Turner and Jenny Lewis are interesting additions. Brand New just seems random.
I got one of the records! Clue #5 was actually a bar I frequent, the Sweetwater Tavern! It actually wasn't there when I arrived which apparently was a problem all around. So I ordered a beer and waited it out. They came in, I was actually downstairs at the open mic and they held it behind the bar until I came back. Some lady tried to barter for it but they all knew I was first and handed it over. So stoked for free festy tickets!
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!

Good for you! I actually rented a Zip Car to hike my ass down to Bee Hive in the South End, but I was pretty late on it. I somehow had the idea that not many people would be going out for it...I guess the positive is that there's a lot of fans paying attention. I already bought a pre-sale ticket anyway haha.

Ah man, for some reason I didn't think it'd be inside Sweetwater! I was waiting around outside for a few minutes and said fuck it, I knew I should have went in and had a beer. Congrats dude!
Think I might volunteer depending on the day-by-day line ups. If I can get Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Jenny Lewis and Warpaint all on one day I'll just get a one day ticket. Pretty disappointed by the line-up but I guess my friends on Facebook are excited so good job on the sad white girl music Boston Calling.
Also, am I going crazy or are there literally acts with only white people in them. The lack of diversity in this line-up is pretty crazy considering the last one had a pretty good selection from various genres.

Haha any info I get, I will send your way in PMs my man. I like how this fest tried to find a new way to reveal their lineup and so I'd prefer to not blow up their spot with a lot of public knowledge, ya know?
I am excited for Frank Turner, he absolutely rocked when I saw him last summer. Edward Sharpe was another nice get, this has turned into quite the little lineup. I'm excited for it.
Yeah...I dunno luckily I don't have much going on, so I might just ride the T down and troll around. I'm hoping not too many people are on board for this. It's probably better if they don't post clues so fewer people will go looking....I could probably guess where they'd put the records.
Happy almost 2,000th post emoney
With his 1999th post being from yesterday, you just know he is waiting for something good to post with his 2000th.

Poster released with a TBA slot between Death Cab and Modest Mouse. Outkast please?
I considered it as well...billed below Jack Johnson and Death Cab though? What's bigger than a Modest Mouse, but smaller than a Death Cab? A Band of Horses?
Looking at Shaky Knees, the National and Alabama Shakes are billed above Modest Mouse, and BoCa obviously isn't getting The National. They might get Dropkick Murphys for some hometown love? Could explain the high billing and would fill in the local act they usually try to have.
Certainly nothing special, but the middle third is pretty decent. If it gets closer to the date, I'm free and I can manage couch space nearby... I might end up there. Frank Turner is totally not my usual style, but he made me a fan at NFF last year.
And THATH is one of my faaaaavorites. Every time I see them on a lineup, I get giddy. So glad they're back on the fest circuit this year!!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

True, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Alabama Shakes. Meh.
Queens will be overseas and Avetts already have (had?) a TD Garden show this year. Dropkicks already have that run of shows at the House of Blues. Outkast have had weird billings throughout various festivals, but you're right in that they wouldn't be under Death Cab and Jack Johnson (and they wouldn't fit in with the all guitar line up). Ellie got an Australia tour starting on the 28th so I guess its possible but I dont see it happening.
Looks like my info was spot on! I had no idea they were still going to announce another act.
#Wait
I didn't realize you actually had real info...I think my own joke confused me. You think Ellie Goulding is billed above Modest Mouse though? Also, I dunno that the St. Patty's Day run necessarily rules them out...another one off performance in the heart of the city for a festival crowd (as opposed to a drunken crowd) could be sufficiently different to merit it.
Question about the poster.... I'm assuming the "announcing soon" banner is another band that will be added at a later date. Any ideas on who or when?? From ohio is this worth the weekend to boston (I've never been) and I assuming you have to get hotels right? (No camping in the middle of the city I assume). I actually like the line up. It's pretty good for a smaller fest. I'd love to see death cab & modest mouse in the same weekend.

Well...those are all pretty loaded questions and I'd hate to steer you wrong...but I'll give you what info I can.
1) If you scroll up, BostonPowers' guess about the yet to be named act is probably pretty reliable.
2) From Ohio is a long way, depending on where...I'll say that the music aspects of the fest were well run. I recall the sound and the sightlines both being fine. The two stage setup and placement means you get to see every act if you want. I was able to get decently close every set I wanted, but for acts I didn't much care about I could just stand off at a distance and take it in pretty well. The venue isn't all that big and the stages are at opposite ends. There's plenty of space if you're not really close to the stage, but you'd definitely know who is playing wherever you are. It's a nice luxury not to have to miss acts. Obviously, if the fest blows up this might change a bit. However, if you've never been to a smaller festival (and I hadn't), there's really nothing going on beyond the bands you're seeing. Aka, none of the great attractions Roo has. (You probably knew and expected this.)
Beyond the performance setup being fine, there wasn't much to discuss. There were a few food options, a small stable of craft booze options. Obviously, the urban setting is cool if you're in to that sort of thing. Logistics for getting there were great...just hop the T (Subway) in. I didn't arrive or leave as the show began or ended, but the train was definitely much less crowded than at rush hour or after a Red Sox game. The mayor showed up last fall...he introduced Local Natives and they kept saying how excited they were about it. The crowd seemed like your average festival goers, for better or worse. (Obviously, there's no Roo spirit, but so it goes.)
If you've never been, you'd have to make up your own mind about Boston for hanging out before and after...I think it's pretty great. Show ended early enough last fall that you could definitely catch some nightlife afterwards. It's an expensive city, yadda yadda yadds.
If you score a pre-sale ticket tomorrow, It says $150 for GA, $250 for VIP (no clue what perks are included). Not sure what normal price is. Overall, if you want to travel to a music festival, and this has your favorite lineup, I'd say go for it. I wouldn't break my back to be there, but it's fun for what it is.
Thanks for the response!! I've been to smaller feats but the urban setting I guess was my biggest question. I'll have to think about it, but I think &150 may be a good price, but I don't think if be willing to more than that because of all the other expenses.... Lots think about!
Will they release the day-by-day breakdown before friday?
Highly unlikely. They haven't even released the last artists name yet. The day by day schedule won't be released until a few weeks beofre the actual fest.

Kind of silly that they'll be selling single-day/2-day passes before announcing that info
