Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The spring Boston Callings have this horrible tendency of being unbelievably white. I don't think there is even an Asian in the spring lineup this year.
Well they did book a one-off for the Decemberists.
But I assume it'll be a tour and/or something to coincide with Made in America, Rock the Bells, or other fests.
Yeah that's what I mean. It's a "one-off" for now, but will there be later announcements of shows for Nas x The Roots?
Also, the Decemberists isn't a one-off, necessarily. They're playing two benefit shows in Portland the next weekend and we can only assume some sort of tour is in the works when the album they're working on is finished. I am, however, stoked that it is their very first show in 2.5 years and I think the announcement specified that no shows will be booked for dates prior to Boston Calling.

To be honest, I think this is just like the Bonnaroo pre-sale where you just get a cheaper price if you get it quick enough. There was a coded pre-sale a few weeks ago.

I totally forgot: Do they give you separate wristbands for each day? Granted, it could change, but I wouldn't mind buying a three day pass and splitting it with a friend. If I had to pick, The Replacements, Spoon and Nas x The Roots would be the only three I really need to see.
This is the first lineup they've had that's resembled other festival lineups (although thankfully not Bonnaroo). I live in MA but will be going back to school in NYC the Tuesday before this. Still heavily considering hopping on a bus and coming back for the weekend. There is seriously not a single artist on the bill I wouldn't want to see. I deeply regret not really catching the National's headlining set last May because I didn't know them then and have since grown to love them and I'm missing their NYC shows this summer (with three amazing opening acts...). Also been looking for a good chance to see Sky Ferreira and Lorde.
Side Note: While I love Lake Street Dive and will be more than happy to see them there, they're a little bit of an oddball in the mix, right?
Here's my by-day prediction. I'm operating under the idea that each day will be slightly thematic like last September (Indie/EDM days) and also the borderline fact that The National will close the fest on Sunday. I may be completely wrong, but I just wanted to try and see if I could get it right.
Friday The Hold Steady Spoon The Replacements
Saturday Gentlemen Hall S. Carey Future Islands Sky Ferreira Lake Street Dive (I really don't know where they'd fit...) Twenty One Pilots Girl Talk Childish Gambino Nas x The Roots Lorde
Sunday Clifflight San Fermin White Denim Bleachers The War On Drugs Volcano Choir The 1975 Neutral Milk Hotel The National
LSD, Clifflight and Gentlemen Hall are all local acts and I would expect to see one opening each day. Gentlemen Hall are the biggest around here, but LSD is probably getting more traction nationally.
Also, while I believe The National are involved heavily in the festival from a behind-the-scenes standpoint, having them twice in four festivals over two years is a bit much.
LSD is too high up on the lineup to be opening unless it was Friday. And they have Cass McCombs opening Friday in May, so that doesn't necessarily have to be a local act.
and one last thing, a bit of comparison of the unreasonable amount of overlaps that have prevented me from spending money on a Boston Calling ticket the first three times through:
2012 Bonnaroo & Spring 2013 Boston Calling both had: Fun., The Shins, Young the Giant 2013 Bonnaroo & Spring 2013 Boston Calling both had: The National, Portugal. The Man, Of Monsters & Men, Matt & Kim, Dirty Projectors, Cults
2013 Bonnaroo & Fall 2013 Boston Calling both had: Kendrick Lamar, Passion Pit, Wolfgang Gartner, Local Natives, Lucius, Solange* 2014 Bonnaroo & Fall 2013 Boston Calling both had/have: Vampire Weekend, Okkervil River
2013 Bonnaroo & Spring 2014 Boston Calling both had/have: Jack Johnson, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Frank Turner 2014 Bonnaroo & Spring 2014 Boston Calling both had/have: The Head & The Heart, Phosphorescent, Warpaint, Cass McCombs

But the only two local acts on the bill - Tigerman Woah and Magic Man - are opening Saturday and Sunday.

Definitely agree with that, and while it wouldn't matter as much between two big festivals, it definitely affects something of BC's size. But I was unable to attend Bonnaroo before this year, so living in Mass, that first BC was a godsend. And the overlap between the spring fest this year and Bonnaroo this year allow me to skip those artists in favor of some others I want to see at 'Roo.
And I think LSD isn't booked as a "local act" but like a national act. Just going off their placement on the poster.

They did it that way last year. Which is silly, but would work to your favor if they continue with doing separate wristbands.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Agreed, it is silly but I guess I'll see how it goes. Thanks! Pre-sale is on now, surprised it isn't sold out by now.

DAMN, beyond happy indeed. Definitely going Friday and Sunday, even though I wouldn't mind seeing Lorde.
Spoon>The Replacements>Nas x The Roots is going to be an amazing back to back to back. Anyone know when day tickets for Sunday are gonna go on sale? I know they took a while for the May event but that was with a the then TBA Decembrists.
Saturday is definitely a drop for me too, but not so much that I wouldn't get a 3-day pass. I'd mainly just want to see Lorde, Childish Gambino, and The Hold Steady. And I wouldn't mind catching Sky Ferreira and Clifflight
