This is the year I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this fest. I talked a big game last year after hearing Scrog talk it up and really had planned to attend but things went to shit pretty fast in my life around that time and stayed that way for a bit so no joy. The last fest I attended was Boomslang 2013 in Lexington KY and that fest was almost impossible. There were reasons I absolutely had to make Boomslang and cut BC that year
I really don't mean to sound like I'm singing a first world blues song but this has just been one shit awful year. I really need to recharge my positive energy batteries. I don't know allot about the bands playing. I'm not a funk junky and for the last 5 years or so my mission has not been to explore strange new funks, or to seek out new funks and new Funk'lizations. Although the idea of boldly funking where no man has funked before is very appealing.
SO I'm pretty sure I'm going this year but I got the jitters. I'll be going it alone because noone I know in my new locale will commit despite their reassurances of giving it "some thought". As a n00b going it alone I have some questions. Well, really only 1 the rest I'll figure out or be educated on when I get there.
Are you allowed to show up on Wed night/afternoon? I'm not seeing that info anywhere on the official site.
Unless you paid for an upgraded camping spot I'd give them a call. I don't see how they would turn down cash for an extra day.
I live an hour south of the venue (Gainesville), so if anyone needs a place to crash nov 12th, just hmu. Also, it's looking like I might be going up alone for this one =/
You can def show up on wednesday. You just have to pay for an extra day of camping. $20 a day I think. A bunch of people show up on tuesday or wednesday to stake out a prime real estate camping location.

This makes me a sad panda.
I just can't get the time off. I am considering Hulaween in its place. That will actually be easier to pull off. We will just have to see how the next few weeks go as far as finances, etc.....it has been a shitstorm for most of this year! I need some SOSMP bad!!!!!

I hope you can make it. I'm not definite for Hulaween yet. If it's possible, I will be there.
The Floozies are playing Friday night (14th) and playing Vinyl in Pensacola on Sat 15tb which I think might be Primus on the Gulf Coast(?). I caught a good bit of their 1st set at Waka and found them to be pretty entertaining. But for anyone in or around NWFL that weekend, it's probably worth checking out - not to mention that the Vinyl is a pretty bad*** venue to see a live show.
Also for anyone who doesn't know Earphunk, they are a cool, local rock and funk band. There is a video interview from last week just posted on LSUs (along with a link to some music (haven't yet listened to either). Hopefully Bear Creek will come out with the schedule shortly.
Okay... so... it's been a long damn time since I've been on the forum. Probably around two years or so. Missed out on Bear Creek last year because we had our first child the April prior, so Mommy and Daddy and soooooo damn ready to hang with the Bear Creek Family once again. We just bought our tickets and ready to get our funk on!
Any word on if there is going to be any super late additions to the line up? I know they've dropped some good news bombs pretty late in the year at some points, but not sure if there is going to be anything else this year. Either way we're stoked, but just wondering if there are any rumors floating about...

MonkeyB, you can arrive early, but like Longinus said, it does cost like $20 extra and you are not going alone, we have a large group going and you are welcome to join us.
Tony, last month, I heard they are happy with the line up. They would like to add another HL, but are okay with what they have.
Looking forward to the funk!!! But first Hulaween! Anybody thinking about both , you can get the combo Halloween/BC ticket.

I actually like some aspects of the Hulaween lineup slightly better than Bear Creek. And 7 sets of SCI is, of course, off the hook. But as long as it's on Halloween weekend, there is a 0% chance I'll ever go. That's too bad because it seems like a cool little event. Maybe one year when Halloween is the middle of the week, they'll go opposite weekends of Voodoo Fest which would allow for a chance to do both.

It may change or become something else, but as far as I know, Hulaween is only a 3 year gig. I love the line-up, but I get off on the the art aspect of Hulaween and that is what draws me. Maybe BC will pick up on that some. Gonna have to make Voodoo 2016.
BIG NEWS: We're announcing our final line-up additions for Bear Creek 2014 on Friday! Among other additions, we've signed up an explosive hip-hop artist and a brand-new soul supergroup. Given those two parameters, who would you like to see added to the Creek this year?

You beat me to it. I have no idea who the adds might be. My first thoughts for the "new soul supergroup" were Nth Power or The Main Squeeze, but they are already on the lineup. It's going to be a great festival.
Any chance we could get Jurassic 5? Chali 2'Na slayed last year.
I was really hoping for this, but the lack of hip hop after having the Roots headline last year was one big reason I chose Hulaween over BC this year. If they drop something huge I may reconsider if the budget is right. Seems pretty late to add anything really big. My initial thought of the "explosive" adjective was Outkast since they're playing everywhere (and the ATL shows this weekend have been sold out for a while), but I'd be extremely surprised.
If it was Outkast or Jurassic 5, they probably would have used the words duo or group or artists. And if you think they're adding anything that expensive at this point, I've got bad news for ya.
News additions!! I love to be wrong about that. Funk yeah!! I have absolutely no idea, of any kind, who they might not add, but I am positive I like it. Excited I am!!

Exactly why I said "Seems pretty late to add anything really big." Chali will be in Ireland the 14-15 so you can rule him and J5 out. Outkast doesn't have anything booked after Voodoo, but way out of the budget and not a good fit since most BC artists tend to collab. Not something Outkast has done much of on this tour at all.
More realistic possibilities, IMO, who have open dates: Dilated Peoples, Blackalicious, Big Boi, Talib Kweli, De La Soul, KRS ONE, or Redman? Even some of these may be over budget, but decent fits.
Speculation doesn't matter anyways because we all know it will be Kanye.
Seriously though. My realistic guess would be Redman since he's worked with Lettuce & Break Science recently. Kweli has done stuff with BS in the past as well.
No idea about the supergroup. I am sure it's a new collab we have yet to hear about.
Must have something to do with the cold and trying to warm one another up.
Last year being a major exception. It was pushing 80 in the daytime and barely dipped below 60 at night, if at all. Was about as good of weather as you could expect for mid November at Suwannee, aside from the never ending rain Saturday night after the main acts ended. I packed a few pairs of jeans and only one pair of shorts...Thank goodness I at least brought that one pair of shorts because I wore them the entire time.

I haven't been to BC yet, but when I go I want jacket, toboggan, campfire weather.
