What were your, if you had any, Top 5 most disappointing sets of the weekend? Provide details as to why.
1) Frank Ocean - Short set, no live band, and minimal stage presence. Give the crowd credit though because they seemed to have more energy than Frank.
2) Disclosure - Not the band's fault, but the volume for this show was pretty low unless you were in the tent. It was hard to get into.
3) Broad City Live - Extremely awkward and not very funny.
4) Little Dragon - Weak setlist and the crowd seemed very subdued in the back.
5) A$AP Ferg - Wtf was that set?
what what what? Disclosure and Little Dragon were disappointments? Maybe it was because I was on rail for little dragon and in the center for disclosure but those were two of the best sets that I personally experienced. Especially Little Dragon. They have stepped up their live show A LOT. Even when I would look back at the crowd from time to time it looked like they were going nuts. I disagree with the weak set list bit too. They played all of the awesome songs from their new album and none of the meh ones. They played plenty from their first two albums(which are the best, imo) and actually played "Twice" which they definitely didn't do in 2012..
Anyways, the only set that I saw that I was slightly disappointed with was Skrillex. I'm not a fan of his, but this set didn't even seem as crazy as his 2012 one.

I had only one really "disappointing" set (banks). One of those subjective things I suppose but here we go:
1. banks- I suppose this was because it was sandwiched between Monster Truck and J.Roddy Walston & The Business. I was so in the mood to continue rocking after Monster Truck and she just did not appeal to me that much. First 3 songs I could not hear her vocals at all. I was never sure why she had a drummer on stage, I never heard him. All I heard was looped beats. I realize a lot of people loved her set and that is all fine and cool. I was not one of those people.
2. Umph's McGhee- Let's keep them late night. I am pretty sure that is why I wasn't feeling it like normal. The heat of the day is just really hard to appreciate good jam IMO.
3. GOAT- I loved there set but cutting it short by 15 minutes was kinda disappointing.
4. Skrillex- He seemed really disconnected from the crowd at his set. At no point did the fans get into it like they did the last time he played.
5. The Saint Johns- I was really looking forward to their set and while it was good, a lot of their slower songs all sounded the same to me.

if you were in the mood to 'rock' then going to banks was just stupid planning on your part. nae offense.
SERIOUSLY?! What was disappointing from Jack White for you?! I LOVED his entire set
For a Bonnaroo set I would have liked to hear a little more White Stripes and a little less solo stuff, but that is a pretty minor complaint really. Definitely not anywhere near making it disappointing. He brought it. Top 5 of the weekend for me.
1) grouplove- everyone at that show seemed miserable and grouchy from the heat and getting the cobwebs off from the previous night. I just didn't feel it and wound up leaving the tent to chill in the back and then left early for a good spot for Albarn.
2) Kanye- not for the reason you think. I thought the ranting was hysterical. All weekend my camp would yell "I know y'all be watchin movies!" Or "now it's my turn to piss on you!" My complaint was just that I was hoping for a better setlist.
3) glitch mob.. The which stage was louder than I have ever heard it for kaskade. Even being in the tent I could still hear kaskade over this.
4) broken bells- now I'm just nitpicking. Broken Bells were great and I got right up front.. Problem was everyone that was around me up front were just there to get a good spot for wiz khalifa... I seriously had no idea ppl even still listened to him. But anyway I was a one man party at bb while ppl around me yawned and sighed.
5) I don't have 5

None taken Jug..I mean FoxandHound. I had to get a good spot for J.Roddy. No worries

still after all this time, im not that guy.
i even yelled incoherent drunken gibberish at you this weekend. you flashed me metal horns and i think you called me brother. so i would hope you know im not this other person.

Ditto on this. That set would have been so much better if not for the Kaskade bleed.
Also anyone hanging out in the middle to the back of Vampire Weekend feel their sound was messed up a bit? Too soft for sure, then at times I felt it would get louder, and then soften back out.

I've been trying to come up with a list of what was disappointing. While I had some sets I didn't enjoy, that was more because I didn't enjoy the music to begin with, and was just showing up to see if the live experience changed my mind. Real Estate, Little Dragon, Polica, and Broken Bells were all sets I didn't enjoy, but only because I don't like their music.
I guess Pusha? But even that one I was only there for a song or two and it was so dumb I left, so I can't really judge the whole thing.
Pretty cool to not have a single set ruined by shitty sound or bad position this weekend. I got lucky.
3. GOAT- I loved there set but cutting it short by 15 minutes was kinda disappointing.
I think that was because they only have one album that's about 40 minutes long and they just ran out of music to play. Also, good seeing ya at that set.
I think pretty much all of Inforoo was there, actually.
1. Andrew Bird - was hoping that the full band material would translate better live, but it really just doesn't hold up to his solo performances that I've seen. Any other year this probably still would've been a great set, but given the quality of every other act this year, pretty meh.
2. Broken Bells - I was admittedly exhausted at this point, but they could've been playing the songs straight from iTunes and I wouldn't have known the difference.
3. Phosphorescent - I think my expectations were just too high for this. Didn't help that the singer was wearing a Phosphorescent shirt.
That's it. I can't think of two more sets that I saw that were disappointing. Such a good year.
2. Umph's McGhee- Let's keep them late night. I am pretty sure that is why I wasn't feeling it like normal. The heat of the day is just really hard to appreciate good jam IMO.
I definitely was not disappointed by them but I agree that late night is where they should go back to. However, factor in that their new album came out this past Tuesday, getting a main stage afternoon spot was the perfect spot for them to be in this year. Played a lot off the new album (and actually scratched a new song from the setlist that hasn't been played yet). Great exposure for them. It was odd seeing them without their own lights. Seen them 42 times now and that was the first without any type of lighting.
Lauryn Hill. I wasn't feeling it all. I was right up in the pit, like 2 or 3 people back, and I left after maybe 20 minutes. I was just bored, should've gone to James Blake or Cut/Copy. Heard they both killed it. Instead I wandered over to Zedd because I couldn't really hear anything at the tents because they were both so packed. Zedd was also disappointing, but I think it was mostly they crowd. That crowd was annoying as shit.
Neutral Milk Hotel was amazing. But holy shit, that was the most horrific crowd I have ever seen.
Waited through the end of Jake Bugg after leaving Umphreys, then through Andrew Bird (he suprised me, pretty cool) and was about 6-7 feet from the rail when Jeff came out. During the third song, when the music picked up, people started moshing so aggressively. A lot of people were forcing there way through the crowd, me and others in the crowd were almost knocked over. I was pulled down into the crowd and almost stepped crushed. I remember seeing people who had been waiting near me who I had talked to during the wait fleeing.
Wound up pushed back about 20 feet delirious from all the bullshit. Those people moshing were not fans at all, they were just interested in moshing. For a lot of people (myself included) this was out only chance to see these guys.
I hope everyone involved in starting and contributing to that mosh pit dies in a fire, seriously.

Uhhhhh what? I don't know what concert you were at, that crowd was the best I've ever been in. I was near the rail towards stage left, and our entire area was very respectful and quick to help each other up if things got heavy. The entire front section of the crowd swaying together in perfect unison during Oh Comely was one of my favorite Roo moments ever.

I wish I was standing where you were dude, like I said, anout 6-7 feet from the rail directly in front of where Julian was standing.

1. Pusha T
2. Little Dragon being in the shithole known as the other tent... seriously I'm not considering an act to be on the lineup until it's confirmed that they will not be performing there. IDK if its just a personal beef between me and the tent, but I never get the same experience there that I do at This and especially That. To add to it being smaller, the sound quality and volume always seeming inferior, they now added that ever important fist pump bus to just blast bass DURING REAL SHOWS. Here is where I happily note that 4 of the 5 disappointments in the original post were where @gearbm95? IDC if you think it had nothing to do with it, but it probably did.
3. Arctic Monkeys' crowd
4. Kalliope thing making its presence felt at This and The Other.
I didn't really have any major disappointments in shows. Here's all I've got: 1. Me, for getting too wiped out by the sun at What during the day on Friday and having to bail on Meshuggah because I was too tired to give them the attention they deserved. 2. Kanye, mainly because of the choice not to turn on the side screens. There's been a lot written about how divided that show was between the first 15k people and the rest of the crowd. I think some of that is just the Kanye haters showing up to hate or just to see what would happen, but as someone who was willing to give him a chance to win me over but was at the back, it's hard to connect when all you can see is a red LED column with an occasional negative of him projected on it. I left kind of thinking "eh, not my deal". If I could have seen, it might have helped.
Where were you because their crowd was insane. They had people crowd surfing almost the entire time, the pit was going nuts, and one guy in the crowd behind the pit crowd surfed on an air mattress. I saw one kid literally climb over the pit rail and get dragged out by like 6 security dudes. I could see people past the sound tent with their hands up getting into it. Their crowd was huge and it seemed like the people getting into stretched really far back. This may have been one of my favorite shows of the weekend. (Granted, I only attended a handful, but it was an amazing set.)
