I haven't been there yet but want to. We don't really have very many good sports bars. They're open 24 hours? That's a pretty awesome area of the Quarter, BTW.
Now that Markey's is a full-on sports bar, it's my favorite one I've ever been to. The one big complaint I have is that they can't keep a decent cook in the kitchen too long. The current kids are pretty good but we'll see how long they last before the owner makes them quit
But yeah, 45 Tchoup's at the end of my block so we just go there for most everything. They (and most places) have plenty of TVs so it's not a huge deal. I still have yet to make it out to Markey's, but I'm just not over your way too often.

Deuce McAllister's Ole Saint is pretty new in the quarter on Royal St., has a shit-ton of TV's, tons of beer on tap and really good food. They are a pretty great sports bar.
Full Lineup of Aftershows was announced (and pre-fest and after-fest shows) except Friday Joy which is still TBA. They are:
Thursday - @ Republic Snails (who I heard was good at Decadence NYE in Denver), Trollphace, Boogie T and Rroid Drazer
Friday - joy Joy Theatre (TBA) Friday - @ republic Flosstradamus, Thomas Jack, Black Aseteroid, Dxxxy, Boyfriend
Saturday - @ republic: Porter Robinson (DJ Set), Black Tiger Sex Machine, Goldfish, Samo Sound Boy, Short Circuit Saturday - @ Joy Theatre: STS9, Hermitude Saturday - @ Dragon's Den: Eats Everything, DJ Three, Unicorn Fukr, Herb Christopher and more TBA
Sunday - @ Dragon's Den: G Jones, Joe Nice, Spankalicious & more TBA
So really the big deal is who they bring in on Friday to The Joy which is the biggest venue by far of the 3.
Also, they announced their artists/taggers for this year, but I didn't really know many of them. Dvote, Elsie, Imag, Lionel Milton, Meek, Mrsa, Nobel, Painter, Uter, Sager, Seek, Some, Swan, Tard, Task, Trase & Wooly.

Haha word. I'm guessing you work there? I've been meaning to get over there for lunch. Any recommendations?

Nope I do NOT work there. They are one of our advertisers. lol I tend to know about a bunch of new restaurants and shit because of that. I work for Where Magazine... the tourist magazine. We do the guestbooks, a couple of maps, the plantation guide and a cruise guide also. The editor loves that I am all into music and get him announcements early and stuff.
2015 app is out. No schedule yet, but there is a list of (at least some) of the random site performers which include circus acts, a violin player, breakdancers, etc. It's under "Special Moments" and includes: some fashion show (Bukatwalk), Buku Breakers, Cirque d'Lecious, Dancing Grounds, The Emergency Circus and Wael Elhalaby.
Food
Bratz Y'all - Decently good
The Taco Tent - I think I saw them at Hangout, but I didn't try it
Efe's Greek Food - Okay
Fireman Mike's (Chopped Champion) - Good - Red Beans & Chicken Fingers, Vegetarian Red Beans, Jambalaya & Chicken Fingers
Mexi Café - Never heard of them
Pie for the People - They are out of Joshua Tree, CA. I've had them before and it was good, but they quality of a slice of pizza at any given time at a festival can be iffy.
White Guy Pad Thai - Had them last year twice. First time was just okay, but the second day it was excellent
Dat Dog - Pretty much the best hotdogs/sausages in the city, so that should be good
Nothing extreme or anything, but there will probably be a few more added over the next few days. Fireman Mike is Top 1 for me going in.

So what they did is cut the festival back to 10 hours a day from 11 and ends at 1. I'm looking at:
Friday: Big Freedia > Mr. Carmack > STS9 > Run the Jewels > A$AP Rocky/Bob Moses/RL Grime/Portugal (clusterfu*k) > Flosstradamus/Boosie (another fucking conflict) > Slow Magic > Gramatik
Saturday: Slander > Gravity A/Raury (minor conflict) > TV on the Radio/Ghostface Killah (major conflict) > Odezsa > Windows 98 > Borgore/Hermitude (minor conflict) > Bassnectar > Hudson Mohawke > Porter Live > STS9 at Joy Cinema
So outside of a few conflicts - the Friday ASAP/Bob Moses/Rl Grime/Portugal. the Man and then Boosie/Flosstradamus and then Saturday's TV on the Radio vs. Ghostface Killah - those days will be solid as shit for up and coming shows.
Friday: STS9 > ASAP Rocky (missing RTJ for being at the front) > Empire of the Sun > Flosstradamus (Boosie conflict...but I just might go with Flosstradamus for the sake of my group and a good spot for Die Antwoord) > Die Antwoord
Saturday: Raury > BadBadNotGood & Ghostface Killah > DJ Windows 98 > Lil B (missing Passion Pit for Ballroom's awesome lineup) > Bassnectar > ILoveMakonnen

Hey all! Totes excited for buku next week. But alas I have a issue. A friend of mine is really wanting to go down with us but tickets have sold out and single days as well. He's super sad panda. I told him Id ask if any of you awesome people might have a extra 2 day for sale? Or even a single day or two of em. PM me.
Got an image of a tweet with Bassnectar in the studio playing bass with Tom Morello "Raging Against Machines." That's pretty cool and would no doubt jam if it's anything beyond studio.
Seriously thinking about getting a ticket to Trollphace/Snails on Thursday night for the kickoff show. Trollphace rules for anyone who likes the hard dub. I think he's one of the best, but I've never seen him.
Buku posted out they have less than 100 VIP passes, 5 Too Buku passes and 25 GA/VIP Travel packages remaining. All GA has been sold out (including the few single day passes they put out there), and VIP Saturday only is gone. It will likely sell out next week since we only have a week to go.
I'm starting to get excited for the kickoff of my festival season. Buku has a few shares with other lineups, but it's otherwise, fairly unique so far for 2015 - especially the rap which is missing from many other lineups. I'm hitting NOLA Brewery's 6th birthday party tonight for TAUK, but they will also feature Gravity A doing a Talking Heads set. I've seen them perform a few songs, but I haven't seen them do a set yet. Since their time is 1:30 tonight, I'm guessing they will either trick some of the songs out or will supplement with some original stuff. Either way, it's a jump on Buku in case Raury ends up being worth watching over the VIP Gravity A set on the boat.
It's pretty much last call for anything anyone might want to see. Flosstradamus Friday at Republic is sold out. GriZ Friday at the Joy is **edit* sold out. STS9 is sold out at the Joy for Saturday. Porter DJ set Saturday at republic is probably close to selling out.
As for the fest, GA is completely sold out. VIP is completely sold out. Super VIP is completely sold out. Only other thing available are a few 2 day 2 people ga/VIP travel packages.
Good for Winter Circle. If I was those guys, I might consider cashing out for the big 7 figure payoff each.
Oh; and we in nola generally don't care about fronting some family friendly image.
Count me as one who waited too late. I'm riding in the Irish channel St. Pats parade, so I waited until I knew the schedule. If someone has tix available, would love some non-craigslist help!
I don't think they ever sell out Jazzfest or Voodoo on purpose. But those fests could have 30, 40, 50 or 60 thousand people. Buku keeps it to 12-13000. -------------- The obvious move for any of them is just to get the tickets on presale. You pretty much know you're going to go, so why not get it out of the way and save money? --------------- Yeah, 3 days Vieux. I'm pretty excited for festival kickoff. Buku is high energy, so it's always a good lead into Hogs for the Cause, French Quarter Fest, Jazzfest and Hangout. We got 4 vip snails/trollphace tickets for Thursday, so I'm getting a kickstart. I might go to either The Sword at 1 eyed or Consider the Source at Publiq House tomorrow, but I shoukd probably save money by not being so antsy and just hang tight til Thursday
2 days ... i drove past mardi gras world today and the power plant is up! also tame impala at the civic may 9, tickets go onsale friday ($30!!). with that, jazzfest, HARD, and hangout, may is gonna be insane
25 hours until Big Freedia waggles that big *** up on stage and starts shit off. I'm super ready. Kickoff is tonight. And hey, this level of dub may make some people's ears spew blood, but it's mf'n Headshot Season.
I'll try to report from the festival if I can, but if not, I'll get a daily recap and Jerry's Final thoughts in by Sunday night.
don't know why i slept on TVOTR for so long, theyre one of my top shows now. see yall there with that buku sunset. (25 hours til carmack!)
I was super jacked to see them, but it blows dog that it's a direct conflict with Ghostface Killah w/ badbadnotgood. Since TV on the Radio starts 15 minutes early, and since I'll see them again at Hangout (and if they're playing Waka or Bonnaroo) I'm going to have to find a way to split 2 of my top few sets of the weekend.
For sure. It's a rough go this morning. I was thinking about going for trainwreck level this weekend, but Snails and Trollphace kicked my ass last night.
Navy Sigur Ros shirt in case anyone wants to say what's up.
