My initial reaction to this year's lineup was "That's it?." However, I saw one major act in my eyes that made Bonnaroo look much more appealing....Tears for Fears. When I saw The Cure at Lolla 2013, I was floored with how amazing they still were. I had no regrets leaving Phoenix early to see the second half of The Cure. Flashforward to 2015, and Roo brings one of my favorite bands from the 80's. This set will be amazing, because they are playing all their major hits, throwing in some awesome covers of today, and their new album might even be out by then. These songs by this band have such a timeless feel, and I have to be front and center for it. I'm so excited for Tears for Fears.
Wow you're a dumbass for attending Roo for one act. Yeah I've gotten that a lot. Well, I've seen a majority of the acts playing Roo this year. Albeit really awesome live, but I feel like Roo is missing the middle ground that 2014 offered. I'm still searching for my James Blake esque act, a Darkside esque act, Janelle Monae esque act. Idk there's definitely some surprises, Tanya Tagaq is one I'm excited about. It's so out there and it's gonna be a rarity. She doesn't tour often at festivals. Unlocking the Truth is pretty incredible live, saw them open for QOTSA last summer and they really looked professional. Royal Blood isn't playing a bunch of fests, I saw them for 10.00 last summer in a small venue and they are one of the best acts playing Roo this year.
The hip hop has a nice variety, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib reminds me of old school hip hop. "Deep" could've easily come out of Tupac's repertoire. They are very talented, and barring any conflicts I'm definitely seeing them. Run the Jewels! I mean what more needs to be said, I saw them at Lolla on a small stage and if you are looking for a raw and energized hip-hop performance, then RTJ is a must see! Gambino might be calling it curtains, so his set should be pretty epic. I've seen him twice, and he hasn't disappointed. Really excited for Atmosphere, probably my third most anticipated rap act. Not interested in G-Eazy at all, that's probably the worst booking on the lineup IMO. He sucks and isn't bringing anything new to the table lyrically.
My biggest gripe with Roo is FUN. Where is Walk the Moon? Two Door Cinema Club? Passion Pit? Phantogram? Sleigh Bells? Matt and Kim? Honestly laugh all you want, but those acts are a lot of fun live and bring a nice edge to any festival. It just gives that balance.
Updated feeling about Roo. After going through a solid skim of acts in the lineup, it will be a good second trip to the farm. Acts like Catfish and Bottlemen, Slyvan Esso, Jungle, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Pokey LaFarge, Atomic Bomb, DMA's, Glass Animals and more make my anticipation of Roo at a high rate. Not to mention Kendrick, Mumford, Florence, Alabama shakes, and more will have new material. That's always a huge plus in my eyes. Hurry up June!

Ben Folds, twenty one pilots, Awolnation, Bleachers, Rudimental, MØ?

For what it's worth when it comes to Madlib - he is so hard to get on a steady tour -which is why he is a huge get for Bonnaroo. We really should be hoping for a Friday show that goes long (though I'm not expecting it, I'm just dreaming for it) because of them have a gigantic catalog. I would assume if the lineup still has him on, it's still a go - Fozzie Bear
I agree, it is very Coldplay-esque. I don't hate it though, and it'll probably grow on me. My main gripe with it is the overdub/reverb on Marcus's voice in the chorus - it's rather jarring and not as smooth a transition as I think it should be. I also prefer when they harmonize more than just Marcus's vocals solo, but overall I think I like this. The instrumentation is a little bland, but it definitely makes me interested to hear the rest of the album.
I've finally figured out why this lineup doesn't have the same magic as past years have had for me. I removed the acts from the top seven lines that have already played Roo since I started attending in 2010, and was left with this.
Billy Joel - Flume - Hozier - Slayer - Ben Harper - Belle & Sebastian Spoon - Atomic Bomb! - Tears for Fears - Earth, Wind & Fire - Caribou
I think I've just hit that point in the festival cycle xP

true but thats only a third of the names in the top7. Considering at least half of the others that are left weren't as big when they performed gives credit to Bonnaroo to for getting those acts before they got big. Now they get them again to do a better time slot.
I didn't mind that Mumford song until the uninspired guitar solo and the annoying drums. I really don't like it but I have to say at least they're trying something new; I always have to commend artists that try to move out of their comfort zone. Sounds like a Phil Collins song with worse lyrics and vocals.
A very, very, veryyyyyy bad Coldplay song. I was ready to give them another chance, but it looks like I'll be cementing my spot inside a tent for a late night show. Par for the course.

So latch was played like three times this year, and last night in a drunken stupor I started thinking about how freaking hilarious it would be if take me to church got the thrice played treatment this year - a nice soulful version, a tech version and a cover.
I can't stand that song, but watching peoples reactions? That's a spicy meatball.

I don't think anyone on Roo's lineup's stock dropped. All the crossover acts seem to have gotten really good reviews for their Coachella performances. Kendrick's rep should shoot way ahead of Drake's among people who keep track of festival performances and such after his June appearance is met with high praise.
Who's stock went up and who's stock went down after Coachella?
Jungle's went waaaay up in my book. I enjoyed their album, but it didn't blow me away. After seeing their stream though, I will definitely be at that show.

I'm not sure any act playing both fests was a letdown this weekend. Jungle and Jamie xx have skyrocketed for me since I heard both shows were incredible but had to miss due to conflicts.

I saw Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen at a very small venue in Sydney called The Basement. If you like rock/soul/jazz/blues this man is for you, amazing voice and great musicians. This will be one of the most underrated shows at Bonnaroo 2015.
Also wouldn't be surprised if he sits in with Martin Medeski Scofield and Wood.
