I really enjoyed Jamie xx's set at Big Ears. I haven't seen GCJ, but I have heard good things about his show. It may be one where they are different enough music that you pick that day based on more of what you want to hear right then.
Ya, what this guy said
I'd do Jamie xx without a question, but if you're into GCJ, I can see why you'd choose him instead
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I've never seen either, so like someone else suggested it will be a gametime decision. Also, I know it's extremely far-fetched but how amazing would it be if Jamie XX ended his set and headed straight to the Silent Disco to play through Mumford and Sons.
I sorted out the conflicting conflict threads. Hope it's not too confusing now
I noticed you posted in this thread, then I noticed stuff I hadn't noticed before in this thread and figured it out before I saw your post. That's deductive reasoning! Makes me sherlock, or at least helps stave off early onset Alzheimer's.

I really think Childish Gambino might be the most crowded Which set ever. Good news for people wanting to see Atomic Bomb and SBTRKT, should be really easy to split sets and get a good spot at both.

Yeah, I've been considering skipping Childish because I already got to see him at Firefly last year and I'm guessing his set this time around won't be quite as over the top because of that Kauai drop.
But at the same time, his Firefly show was just so.. absolutely.. ridiculous... it pains me to risk missing another wild Gambino party.
1/30: Cold War Kids
2/6: Cherub
4/22: The Mountain Goats
5/25: Laura Jane Grace "Killing Me Loudly"
5/31: The Decemberists
6/11-6/14: BONNAROO 2015
6/28: Against Me!
6/30: Against Me!

yup one of my conflicts too, gambino/sbtrkt, god damn. but i feel like gambino is something you need to be close for to really enjoy. was at his set in 2012, quite a ways back, didn't have the same pull. but i could see him being awesome and IDK WHAT TO DOOOOOOO

Good point, I was in the second row. Pretty sure my girlfriend almost got crushed but it was totally worth it. She'd agree.

Would you rather see a band you've seen a time or two before where you know you'll have a good time, or go to a band you're not as familiar with but are intrigued by because it'll be a new experience?

jamie xx----> sbtrkt gary clark----> gambino
two totally different experiences to be had, but i'm an electronic music fan and have never seen xx or sbtrkt. i've seen gambino twice, so i'm willing to miss that. prolly catch gary clark for a bit and head over

The latter for sure. If you are not feeling it you can always go to the band you have seen before. I always highlight bands I have seen before on the schedule but they always end up getting dropped for something I haven't seen before. The only exception to this rule so far has been Darkside last year and The War on Drugs this year.
Edit: and maybe Sylvan Esso but that's because I don't give a shit about Guster so why not.

Totally depends on the strength of the emotional connection I have with the band I've seen before. There are certain bands I will see over and over and over and will make all kinds of sacrifices to keep, even if the band I've never seen before conflicting with them is super duper rare. Bands like Phish, Umphreys, Slayer, I just have to go see.
It'd be easier to skip a band like Foo Fighters (which I will be to go see UM at hangout if I end up going). Yes I've seen them multiple times, yes I dig their music, yes its a great show, but I don't have the deep emotional connection with their music and live show like I do with other bands.

This is dumb speculation at this point, but what if they had a taping of @midnight with Chris Hardwick on the main stage between Kendrick and Deadmau5?

That would be wonderful chaos, but I think its more likely we are treated to videos reminding us its high five Friday, accompanied by the sweet sounds of Smashmouths "All-Star" on repeat.
I could use a little help from my friends. What should I do?
Houndmouth vs getting up close for Courtney Barnett? Gary Clark Jr vs the first half of MMJ? War on druqs vs getting a good spot (or in line for the pit) for MMJ? Sbtrkt vs the end of MMJ and getting/keeping a good spot for Mumford? D'Angelo vs Flume? Spoon-->Florence vs Brandi Carlile -->Robert Plant? (not staying for Billy Joel)

I think a full GCJ set would be better than half of an MMJ set. But if you're going to see all of MMJ, commit and get into the pit. Then get out of the pit and go into the Mumford pit line. It's less running around and the pit is pretty shaded near the end of the day so it shouldn't wear you out too much.
And I agree with CKS in regards to D'Angelo over Flume and Spoon/Flo over Brandi/Robert.
