I heard you had to pee in a cup for the pit.
Or have a poncho and do it like an animal draped in plastic.
I'll be the one pissing my own pants so I can remain in pit for Twenty One Pilots.
although I may be underestimating their popularity
Oh you are. Big time. That show will be jam packed. Almost 7,000 people have them added to their schedule and everyone else in that timeslot only has a few hundred except for Shabazz Palaces who have 1k.

You're probably right but I still don't think 90% of those people even know the pit exists or how to get to it or just don't bother with it

I doubt you'd have to get their that early, although I may be underestimating their popularity, or your bladder control.
When they played in 2013 they played at The Other Tent on Thursday and it was packed. They have Blown Up since then and it should be a good show. They probably drew 5,000-10,000 for their Firefly set last year

I was there in 2013, didn't think they released anything or blew up that much since then, but I'm apparently very wrong.
BTW how does the pit work as I have heard they clear it out after each show. Just wondering the truthfulness of this
Emptied after each show
Thanks for the info. I imagine if I want to be in PIt for Mumford I should get in line during Hozier? Or is it possible to be in Pit for Hozier then not for MMJ then in for Mumford or id that a pipedream?

I would guess Mumford will be the hardest pit of the weekend to get into, but really I don't know.
This is the first year where everyone we want to see on Saturday is at the What stage. I am driving an extra 2 hours on Wed the 10th to see Mumford play in Maryland before heading to Roo but my GF is all about Mumford pit. We are going to be at What for Trampled so we will be there. I want to be Pit for Mumford but at the same time don't want to spend my whole day waiting in line when I could just work my way up throughout the day to be pretty close. Damn it why can't it be June 9th already
I've only done pit once (Tedeschi Trucks) last year , got there like 20 minutes before it started. I want to do it for MMJ this year, how early should I show up in advance?
The what stage is at least 30 feet off the ground and it is a horrible angle from the pit. Saw lots of people with vertigo and neck problems. And the overcrowding and crushing concerns are real.
Go to the pit if you want but only if you have good insurance and are fine missing the rest of the weekend while in the medical tent.
After reading this, I may try to get right behind the pit.
The only thing that sucks about waiting for the pit for anyone later in the day is not being able to see the stage while you wait. I was waiting for pit for McCartney a few years ago but the overcrowding and general dickheadishness that was the pit line pissed me off in the first 10 minutes and I decided to move over to the back rail of the pit vs waiting all day and being really annoyed by the time they opened the Pit for McCartney.. best decision ever as I got to actually see the other three concerts instead of hear them...until they opened the pit and I realized I could have been about 100 yards closer than I was for a FUCKING BEATLE!!

The pit really isn't worth it at all. The lines are long, you miss previous acts, and the sound isn't the best. You're better off getting a nice spot near the soundboard with some shade
