The only What show I'd like to catch this year from the pit is Kendrick. To Pimp a Butterfly was just so so amazing to me and to be able hear King Kunta 10 ft away from K.dot would be beautiful. Between section.80, good kid m.a.a.d. city, and TPaB, the dude is in his prime. He also is a Roo veteran so I think he'll put on a great show. I probably won't be able to catch them but the Spoon and Trampled by Turtles What shows also look like a lot of fun.
The pit is great for the acts that nobody actually wants to get in the pit for. When you can just stroll in and not have to wait in line or anything is terrific.
You got it. That's how it was when Wilco opened for McCartney in 2013. Literally only 1/3 of the pit was filled up. Sang along to Wilco with Tweedy right in front of me. Was awesome. Also a short line for Janelle Monae last year and she put on a fantastic show.

Yeah I think Im going to go in the pit for Trampled by Turtles so I can say I have done PIt as well as try for Twenty One Pilots on Sunday. I just think if I try for Pit for Mumford then i will miss the MMJ experience.

Personally not a Mumford fan but I would wait for the pit for them. MMJ are touring quite a bit this year and, I'd expect, more due to their couple of album that are supposed to come out and only have short 90 minutes to kick ass. MMJ will put on a good show no matter what, but 90 min just isn't enough for a full experience, that's just a movie sneak preview. Mumford aren't touring that much, are redeeming themselves for missing out in 2013, and have a new electric show to debut. You'll still be able to hear MMJ while waiting for Marcus & co. This is your call but that is my 2 cents.

My only concern is that while I am waiting for Mumford I will HEAR MMJ but I wont get the full experience. I am actually going to see Mumford the night before we leave for Roo. I like Mumford but my GF LOVES them.

Oh, alright. I hope you have the best time no matter what you do!

I'm hoping to get pit for gambino and Kendrick. About how early do they start letting the people in line into the pit before the show. And when you leave the pit would you still have good spots for the next show?

Once you leave the pit, you have to go touch The Arch or you wont be allowed access back into any of them.

So THAT'S why I'm always being groped at Bonnaroo. I just thought people liked my physique.
Already getting mentally prepared for the mad dash from Atomic Bomb! to the Mumford pit....
I wouldn't expect many people from Atomic Bomb! to be running to the Mumford pit. And if you stay for all of Atomic Bomb! you will be getting to Mumford too late for the pit.
Made it into the Jack White pit a half hour before start time last year so I'm hoping for another miracle.
With the schedule changes, do you think the half hour between Gary Clark Jr. and MMJ is enough time to land a good spot in MMJ's pit line? Or should I cut out of GCJ's set early? Either way I'm excited I get to see part of his set instead of Hozier

Seconding this question, I'm in the exact same boat.

I plan on leaving Gary Clark Jr's set about 30 mins early to go get in line for MMJ.
The What Pit is pure magic. I've seen The Roots, Tool, MMJ, Arcade Fire, Dead Weather, Stevie Wonder, Jay Z, Phish, Radiohead, Janelle Monae, Bjork, Damon Albarn, Lionel Richie, Jack White, and Elton John inside the pit.
Get there an hour before the set you want to see and you're all good. No need to wait around all day.
Last year they changed the pit to one big semi circle. They let GA in first, followed by VIP and artists. I hung out with Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett from SNL between Lionel Richie and Jack White. Also stood next to Skrillex, Nicholas Jaar, and Damien Marley during Elton John. It turned Rocket Man into a super bizarre sing along.

Can you stay in the pit between sets? Otherwise, how did you get in for Lionel and Jack White?

Whoa, really? Not 100% sure how I feel about this (the one big pit part - not the Skrillex, Nicolas Jaar, & Damien Marley singalong, which sounds awesome).

Sorry, I should have been more specific. We spotted them at the end of Lionel Richie and introduced ourselves as the pit was clearing out. We requeued for Jack White and went back to our spots (back center for the best view & sound).
So, no you cannot stay in the pit. However it's super easy to reenter if you immediately get back in line.
Just a heads up for you guys planning on getting in the pit line 30 minutes early--we got shut out of Kanye for trying this last year. Seems like they were letting people in earlier; 45-60 min before set times.

So its safe to say that if i am in the pit for MMJ for the first hour and then leave and get in the pit line for Mumford I should be ok? This would be about an hour and a half in the Mumford pit line
I had never been in the What stage pit before last year where i got lucky enough to see Damon Albarn, which is still my favorite show of the weekend, and was in the debacle known as the Kanye pit line and about lost my life. But i dont regret waiting (or in Damons case, not waiting at all) in line to see them. They do need more order to the whole thing but hey im staying clear of the pit this year, unless that Kendrick line just calls to me.

You'll be able to see all of MMJ inside the pit and get back in for Mumfarts. If I were you, I'd dip out once they start playing OBH.
