I had such an amazing time this weekend I am seriously contemplating going back for jazzfest. I just saw that I can still get student tickets for $20 for friday and sunday...very tempting. Only issue is lodging.

Thanks for mentioning this, looking into getting a student ticket for Sunday because I have the day off work. Nels Cline, Kamasi Washington, and the Fort is more than worth the price.

Next year I may relax on the festival a bit so I can do all three days of the Newport Blues Cafe.. went Sat/Sun and it was by far the greatest time I had through the weekend.. Rayland Baxter on Sat night was AMAZING.. you could tell that the nerves from playing the festival had worn off and they were in the pocket. Missing Jenny Lewis on Friday solidifies the fact that I have to do all three nights..
In terms of the festival Ryan Adams was by far my highlight.. those helicopters were scary though!! holy crap!!
Got to see Jcrus for a few minutes Friday and Potato Trooper briefly tonight. It's kind of interesting how people who post a lot in this thread don't really spend much time with QC folks.
Was anyone else at the Sunday Deer Tick show? That was hands down the best Tick aftershow I have ever been to!
Deer Tick Middle Brother / Dawes Taylor's Dad , used to play in " Tower of Power" Son Little The Huntress and the Holder of Hands.
So amazing. Still can't believe they played Straight Into A Storm. That was my 16th Deer Tick show and the first time I got to hear that. Also the cover of Bring It On Home to Me. They did that song with Leon Bridges last year too, and it's probably been my most listened to song of the past year. So glad I got to hear it again. The other covers/guests were great too. PLUS Middle Brother. Holy crap. Jay was standing just down from me during Lenny Goldsmith's "set" and I told him to book Lenny for NFF17, then Jay started chanting something along the lines of "Lenny For Folk Fest!" or something.

Anyone here see about the City Winery Open festival/multi-day concert at Forest Hills Stadium in NYC this fall? Seems right up our alley. www.cwopen.com/

That venue is horrible. I saw Van Morrison there and it sucked. Hot as hell because you're in the sun, cement bleacher-style seating (no backs...at least on upper levels) and no actual bathrooms. They had a few porta potties on the bottom level (so you have to worm your way through your row and walk all the way down to the ground to use it).
Probably a decent show but that venue did not impress me.

Nope didn't talk but whoever was standing directly behind me you were talking to about how meeting everyone wasn't so scary. Almost all of you guys are super easy to pick out of the crowd

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of it. Only time I was there was for Alabama Shakes last year and it works nicely when the sun sets earlier in the evening. I was on the floor too, so I can't speak for the seats. A whole day in the sun there could be rough. I'll still be looking into it though
Forest Hills isn't horrible as long as they let you leave the music venue (it would seem so for the food and wine vendors). Bring a cushion. I'll get razzed here, but their outdoor audio engineers are no worse than the board ops, especially at the Fort Stage, who think if you can run bass at 10, why not go to 11, even if you drown out vocalists (thought they got it right on Sunday, though). Re Forest Hills -- no parking even in the neighborhood as most streets in the "Gardens" are private. Take mass transit or find a local friend whose address you can use on the front window of your car.
I had so much fun at my first NFF. I can't wait to go back next year and the next year and the year after that on and on forever. Top 5 acts in no particular order for me were Middle Brother, Julien Baker, Ryan Adams, Elvis Costello, and Texas Gentlmen with Kris Kristofferson and Margo Price.

All this Glen Hansard talk is making my first morning back in the office even sadder than normal. Good news is that even if I am asked to go to this conference again next year, it will be Monday- Thursday instead of Sunday-Wednesday, so I might still be waking up at 4:15 a.m. to catch a flight, but I think I wouldn't have to miss Sunday! WOOHOO!!!
It was awesome to meet and chat with @jcrus0 and the rest of you guys suck for staying hidden (especially you, jumpinjamesbrown , whose MO seems to be recognizing people and not stepping forward )
And Strawman thanks for the heads up about the City Winery fest! I think I might try to do it. I have a fest the next weekend too and really shouldn't take off two weekends in a row, but that's only 10-15 from my aunt's house and quite pretty looking. One of my uncle's practices might be in Forest Hills too... maybe I can sleep in a dentist's chair? I think maybe I could get my parents there too if my sister doesn't have her baby yet...
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I know i'm a terrible person i'm sorry but in the words of taylor goldsmith i tend to be the guy that when he drinks he disappoints. So i never want to ruin your guys good time. You're all gorgeous and when i was walking past the tent during elvis i saw fawn leaning against the fence and almost walked up to give her a kiss because she is the sweetest human being ever.
