One more day until my wife and I head down to Louisville. Personally, for Friday I'm most excited to see Seratones, Phosphorescent, Grouplove (They're a guilty please, and I want to see how much new material they play), Moon Taxi, Bully, Ghostland and the Avetts. We're also hitting RJD2's late night. I dig a good bit of his new album, Dame Fortune.

OH HEY. One quick reminder about sunscreen.
Last year, they wouldn't let us bring in our sunscreen, which admittedly was aerosol spray. Here's the thing, that's never been a problem for me at Bonnaroo, and if you look at Forecastle's FAQs, it says sunscreen under the "What Can I Bring?" tab, but specifies Aerosol Sunscreen under the "What Should I Leave At Home?" tab, which is further down. I kind of flipped out on the poor gate folks, mostly because of how insanely hot it was last year.
So make sure you get yourselves some old-school sunscreen so you don't die of sunburn.
Friday conflict help: should I see Glass Animals or Ghostland? I realize it's easy at FC to split shows, but which would you start with?
Ghostland hasn't been on tour much in recent years, and does only a handful of shows here and there. I seen them five years ago, was a fun show with tons of lasers. Gonna see them in Philly next month.
Just stopping by to mention that Grouplove concert goers are LITERALLY the worst. It's almost like I missed the tweet where the band promised the first 25 college kids to the front get a free flower crown. This says nothing about the band (for the record I thought they sounded grea and their energy was in the heavens yesterday) but their fans ruined that show for us. We had to bail halfway through because the girl behind us kept elbowing my girlfriend in the back in an effort to get in front of us, even after we asked her to stop. Not to mention the poor middle aged man and his daughter next to us who just wanted to sprawl out on a blanket and listen peacefully about halfway back. But as soon as the show started, a million of those glitter covered, weed soaked tweeny boppers rushed the stage and just started prancing all over their area they had camped out at, trailing dirt and mud all over them and their blanket. Never had I been so ashamed to be apart of music making experience. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

I enjoyed Phosphorescent yesterday - and was glad they let him finish after the asinine evacuation. I also thought Bully was incredible - and what a setting with the sun setting over the river in the distance. And by the way, the Avetts are headliner material for a mid major fest like this. They had a huge crowd, and played a pretty high energy set. We finished at RJD2. I just wish the boat wasn't a sweat box. He was great, but we stayed outside on the river side for a lot of his show

In something I feel might interest billybaroo and crazykittensmile especially, I have seen two Manziel jerseys this weekend so far. The more interesting thing about it is that one was a Padres jersey.

I was about four from the center rail for Ryan Adams. He was amazing as always. Forecastle was at such a great location, but man was it hot. Got home at 5:40am. In to work at 8:30. Kill me now. But I am so glad I went.

we had a great weekend even though I really wasn't interested in to many of the bands. Femi Kuti killed it and Teddy Abrams and The Forecastle Symphony should get a slot every year. Was it me or did Sunday seems really empty?
Bubblehouse, funny you thought Sunday was the weakest day. For us, it was the most filling of three seeing as we saw our favorite acts and did the most stuff we had done all weekend. Totally agree about Abrams as he was a lot of fun. Kind of like a shortened Superjam of sorts with a lot of great talent from the area. Does anyone remember who that was singing "Baby's On Fire"? I was biting my tongue trying to not just burst out laughing at the combo of how out of tune his vocals were and his hilarious insistence on utilizing just the one dance move with his head bopping side to side over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

did anyone catch baauer?? seriously so awful. i waited through his set so i could be front row for ghostland & it was it most poorly mixed, shittiest sounding, cookie cutter dj set that i've ever seen. it was like a high school freshman got a hold of some trap spotify playlist, fucked around with some turntables that didn't actually do anything, then screamed at the audience to do shit the entire time. he was on the mic so much that i literally couldn't figure out the songs he was playing half the time. the 10-15 min that danny brown's dj at the beginning of his set was leaps & bounds better that baauer's full set. i was looking forward to dancing & it didn't happen. but on a better note, hudmo absolutely threw down saturday afternoon. he was a great mood, everything was mixed well, he played some sweet remixes (a higher ground remix, an extended remix of a sample off of kanye's pt 2), danny brown's dj was hypemanning during some of the set, & hudmo didn't even touch a mic the whole time. altogether it came together for an ultrafun electronica set. also fuck waterfront park for being juuuuust not close enough to every nearby pokestop when you got into the actual festival.

Outside of the oppressive heat, I had a blast at Forecastle. As usual, it was a breeze to get in and out, save for after the evacuation, and the setting continued to be top notch. I loved seeing the sun set behind the river as Bully was playing. As for the music, I loved: - Dr Dog - White Denim - They put on one of my favorite sets of the weekend - All Them Witches - I previously saw them at 'roo, and they seem to be getting better and better. - Phosphorescent - Ryan Adams - I didn't initially think he was headliner material, but he put on a heck of a show and quickly won me over. - Bully - The Avetts - The Arcs It definitely felt like Saturday was the most crowded day, attendance wise. There seemed to be noticeable lines for water and beer and the bathrooms. More so than I could really remember.

top 3 sets for me personally
1. ryan adams
2. ghostland observatory (seriously magical. i didn't think they'd be as good as they were 10 years ago but their light show was top notch & aaron seriously brought it as a frontman as he normally does. killer setlist too.)
Dave Maynar How was Danny Brown? Did he play any new songs?
I enjoyed the show a good deal. He's a fun time and the front part of the crowd at least was pretty hyped. To the best of my knowledge of his songs, he did not play any new songs. I know for a fact he didn't play When It Rain and he never introduced anything as a new song. I, for one, thought that was pretty weird since the album release is soon, right?

Yeah, I don't know the exact date but I think it's supposed to be pretty soon. Dang, he didn't even play When It rain that's kind of disappointing. I'm just getting really excited to see him at Lolla and I saw you were going to see him, while my other friends at Forecastle did not.
