This fest is fantastic and is getting better...once they stop inviting back every single incarnation of Phil Lesh and friends it'll be even better. JRAD is a fantastic band. This is by far my most anticipated fest of the summer.
Well I haven't talked to my hubby yet (he's out of town), but I've looked at the logistics of flying, getting a rental car, and talked to Bonnie and I am pretty sure I want to do this. I've never flown to a festival before, so that is kind of intimidating.... Message me later girly and I am pretty sure we can figure this out!

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.
I am going and will drive if you need me to carry anything dreamingtree
Thanks Jess, I may take you up on this. I don't really want to carry my air mattress and pump in my luggage or a sleeping bag Are you doing car camping? Will be in touch closer to the fest!

Well my goal would be to camp with you and chef, probably just me and at most one other person so should have room for an extra cooler and air mattress pump.

Sounds like a plan! I think Bonnie is going to try to camp with us also. We are going to go in Wednesday night if that is happening. Looks like they are making an announcement about Wednesday entry soon.

Just keep me in the loop
I might make a FB group for us to make it easier to make plans?

When it gets closer, we can find a place to all meet up and caravan in.

Most likely going to be there this year. Haven't bought a ticket but took the time off. Probably going to try and buy last minute (if I don't win one of the 20 contests I entered)
As reported, Phil Lesh will play two sets at this year’s Lockn’ Festival which will be held August 25 – 28 in Arrington, Virginia. Today the lineups for each performance have been revealed.
In an interview with Chicago Now, Lockn’ co-creator announced the Saturday, August 27 set will find Lesh aided by Phish drummer Jon Fishman and Phish keyboardist Page McConnell as well as drummer Joe Russo and The Infamous Stringdusters. Can you ask for a better two-drummer attack than Fish and Russo? On Sunday, August 28 Lesh will perform with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood with a special guest spot from Gary Clark Jr..
Should be awesome sets but seems like Phil was just like "well who is there already that I can play with?".
So how are the crowds / how tough is it to get close?
I'd like to be pretty close for MMJ, but with only 1 stage I'm wondering what kind of time investment that would take.
When I was there two years ago, I didn't have any issues getting close for shows, whether it was Umphrey's, SCI or Phil and Friends. It seemed easiest to work your way in from the side.

wasn't tough last year to get a good spot, though they've changed from two alternating stages to a single turntable stage, not sure how that will impact things.
