are there any nearby hotels or will camping be my best bet?
I've looked and there are some nearby, although I'm not sure if they are close enough to walk (I doubt it). I was looking because I will probably be staying at one on Wed night or whatever night is before they let everyone in.
They did seem to indicate they were "stepping up" to be a major player. Radiohead would certainly do that. Add Thursday acts. Things are looking good. They follow three artists but Chance doesn't have the feel of a third headliner... right? Maybe he has elevated that high at this point. And if Radiohead and Arcade Fire are 1 and 2, Chance could then make sense as the rap act and final headliner.
We kinda blew off Chance headlining The Meadows because it's a first year fest but I think Coloring Book actually got him there. His pre-CB bookings clearly show that he was not expected to get this good of reception

You guys should lower your expectations. The lineup will be good, but it'll be about on par with last year. They aren't really changing much. But I have not heard one negative thing about last year. Really unique and awesome experience by all accounts. I'm excited for the full lineup; and I'll probably be there.

I wouldn't recommend getting a hotel for this Festival. I've never stayed at a hotel for a camping festival but at a fest like Firefly it might have actually been nice. At a fest like Roo or Okeechobee where it has the all night appeal and the village, centerroo etc. Camping really makes the festival in some aspects.

When bassnectar is on the lineup, that happens. Let's hope the organizers know better than to let him hold camp every year and turn it into E Forest south.
Last year they had Kendrick, Win Butler, Robert Plant, Tom Morello, MumSons, Miguel, Hall and Oates, Avetts, and Kamasi. Yes they have a ton of EDM but they still have enough good to validate getting a ticket for me

I also heard those crowds weren't very big. I've been to Buku and Counterpoint because they had a lot of options that I liked, but those were still mostly EDM type festivals. Okeechobee seems to be sort of the same thing with a little more diversity, but from what I've seen most of the people going seem to be in it for the EDM. I could see Arcade Fire fitting in as the one headliner band, while they got another rapper and edm artist as the other two headliners. But Radiohead seems kind of odd for this festival. But of course we can only speculate what kind of festival the organizers want this to grow into.

Agreed, which is why I think/thought Red Hot Chili Peppers would be the "big" headliner. They fit into the demographic much better. If they go something like:
RHCP - Arcade Fire - Chance the Rapper- Chainsmokers
That would have the wide appeal to the crowd they draw
This sounds like it's shaping up to be an almost "American Osheaga" which is a good thing. Radiohead seems like a reach though. If presale is really cheap, I'll probably trust in the gods and go for a ticket.

More wishful thinking but possible? Too much?
i dont think porter is gonna end up doing fests solo next year unless he has a new album. def see this fest booking the porter/madeon collab if available though.

Well I'd be just as cool with that. I can't wait to see what that sounds like.
