Interesting notes: "The festival, essentially hosting the musical curation of Fun Fun Fun Fest in a medieval village, will also add a dedicated DJ area this year, featuring acts like Peanut Butter Wolf, Hot Chip, and Poolside. They’re reconfiguring the layout as well, moving the main stage from the parking lot area to inside the wooden gates of Sherwood Forest Faire"

Can't wait to see how this is all configured. They must be moving a lot around because otherwise it could get very cramped.
What's interesting is that where the main stage was isn't where everyone parked, like they mention in the article.. Maybe that area will be the parking lot from now on, moving the vendors along the wooden gates, and moving the main stage where the vendor parking area was? I haven't checked the map or anything so there are all random guesses.
Am I the only one who hadn't heard of Electric Wizard and went to listen to their music expecting some 80s synth dance music and got an ear full of heavy death metal instead?

I hope the volume was maxed out.
Seriously though, the thought of Boris into Sleep into Electric Wizard makes me jealous of anyone going to this.

I don't understand where the main stage would go inside the gates. It was all wooded back there and the few clearings weren't very big. I thought it was set up pretty well last year so it'll be interesting to see how they do this. Can't wait for a map.

I think I'm gonna check this out this year. Fun Fun Fun was always my favorite fall fest and I was disappointed with last year's overall lineup for SoS. They really stepped up the electronic this year. Kinda wish they had gotten Danzig too after seeing the Riot add.
I used to look forward to FFF Nites just as much, if not more than the fest.
I feel the same way but there is "late knight" programming. More on that later but if they can convince S U R V I V E to do a late night set in the middle of forest, completely surrounded in darkness could be the most under rated festival experience and totally bring experience of Stranger Things to real life.
For anyone who went last year, what's the camping experience like? Any activities on the grounds before or after bands? Food vendors? Showers?
Ive had 3 camping experiences outside this: Wakarusa VIP, Eurphoria and Utopia.
This competed with Wakarusa' VIP package sans open bar all day/night.
-Plenty of shelter, trees and shade. It isn't the sardine style line up of tents with very little wiggle room. You also camp next to your vehicle which is huge perk not really respected vs other camping options. I sleep in my car and put up a canopy over the hatch in the bag to create an extra room.
-Literally 0 checking of bags/belongings. They just waved us into the entrance and some stoner kids barely organized us in the directions to camp. So you can bring whatever beer you want (who knows if they make it more strict this year). Returning to the fest ground was a somewhat confusing but short 15 minute walk. They made note on their "improvements email" that there would be better lighting, directions and accurate map. The camping map made zero sense at all. I spent an hour trying to find the campign stage for Hinds and never made it. Eventually I figured it out.
-There are all sorts of different areas to camp that are more wooded than others, some hidden from the road, some with pre-existing buildings and camps from those whom attend the ren faire in the spring. They each have their own "ren faire" esque name like "dirty pirates" or whatever have you.
-As I mentioned, they had a small set of late knight -camping only- billings with Hinds, Bully, Baio and Jagwar Ma DJ Set (which was one of my favorite experiences last year). They also have a comedy tent, I think a silent disco? and some movies (although I don't think that ever got set up). They also had a general store that sold 12 packs of beer for like $20 which isn't that bad at all considering mark ups in the fest itself.
-Food Vendors: They had a great choices but it did get crowded at times. I had a lot of Frank queso dogs that week (which had a 24 hour-ish tent in the campgrounds also). They have also have some decent breakfast options.
-Showers were very nice with either a trailer option or a cabin style building that is there all year long. Bathrooms were fest bathrooms but were cleaned each morning. I'm sure they had water tents but I completely forget.
CEO of Stratus (current owner of FunFunFun) has a hold on Auditorium Shores for a FFF event this Halloween and is working with C3 to produce the event. [br
Graham Williams, talent booker at Margin Walker says the agents and sources he works with stated they have not been reached out by FFF, Stratus or C3.

Maybe it was just an off day but I couldn't connect with their live show at DFN. I will give it another shot at FYF.

I felt the same at their DfN show, and decided to leave early to catch another set. Not the same thing, but I watched their live stream on Moogfest, and it sounded better this time.

Seems like they play every single small fest in Texas. They were really early on Sunday at D4N. I ended up missing them, Nothing, and Uncle Acid, much to my chagrin.
I crushed through Stranger Things and it definitely helps being a fan of that show and SURVIVE connection. I'd Mos likely skip their set if there was a conflict, but an 1am late night dark and mysterious forest setting would just be too perfect to miss.
Super sucks YYYs and Electric Wizard aren't the same day, and Shins/Blood Orange as a top line for a day is bothersome, but the undercard seems split pretty well. Idk if I'm going to be able to pull off the whole weekend, but not having YYYs/EW on the same day makes it tough for me to want to do a day pass.
F - YYY, Push, Dino, Converge, Bradley, Blanck Mass S - Iggy, Griz, Vince, Sleep, Could Nothings, Poolside, Maclean, Glazerr S - Electric Wiz, Ministry, Hot Chip, Foxygen, Digable, Twin Peaks, Boris, Hoops (idk really this day might be the best even without the headliners)
looking at the sched. from last year...was there really no gaps? it looks like all four stages are all playing something at the same time. that sounds like it could be problematic.
It was kind of all over the place, but thay top names all played on the main stage and didn't conflict. It also went until 1am I believe.
I have no idea how it will be with them moving the main stage inside the gates. They had enough room out there for a main stage to hold 10k but inside the gates is littered w trees n random structures.
