Which festivals call it quits after 2017?

20 years is a long time to do anything especially as a small business.

And there it is, what everybody said would happen when they announced the venue change.

I think Ultra needs to change cities completely. Find some place else in Florida that actually wants to work with the organizers.

I’m convinced City of Miami let them do it there so it could fail spectacularly and they can justify kicking them out for good. They’ve been complaining about this thing for years and it doesn’t have much support from local politicians. There’s really no where else in Miami for them to do it though, so I don’t blame Ultra. The alternatives are Homestead Speedway which is a 30-45 minute drive from the beach and downtown area (so no) or doing some kind of camping setup out in the Everglades (also a no).

It’s about 3 miles. And the worst part is, there’s no hotels directly on the other end of that bridge. If you booked a hotel in South Beach, you’re still gonna have to wait for a 15-20 minute Uber to get there - and that’s if you don’t add in crazy festival traffic. Even if you were lucky enough to get a hotel in Brickell it’s still a good mile or two before you get to the part where the hotels are. That site was fucked from the get and we all knew it.

We can't have nice things. It sucks. We debated going this year until we found out it was at Virginia Key.

That being said, I'm currently watching the livestream and having serious fomo. Trying to stay up to watch deadmau5 and his cube 3.0.

EDIT: Wow, Ultra did him dirty. Under 40 minutes? And I guess this was after the whole power cutting out ordeal. The spinning, semi-transparent cube looks great though; I feel like the livestream didn't do it justice.

It is when you’re shutting down a major thoroughway with 60,000 people who are hopped up on all varieties and quantities of controlled substances at 2am. It’s not just the walking. It’s the mess that creates. I heard they couldn’t reopen the Rickenbacker until 8am because of all the trash on the bridge.

It’s dumb as shit, but I kind of also agree with Herobust in a way. Then Marshmello cutting on Col Sanders also has to be a joke. There’s no way he can call that lame when other than not representing a specific corporate product, he’s almost the same thing.

Just checked it out, you're right. But I have friends who went who said it was still not great. Who knows what they were up to though.
