Are they gonna sell Orpheum Cheese tix without having to buy the 3 day pass? That would be the most convenient night for me to go, and would be perfect after The Stones. I don't see them selling out on 3 day passes but who knows.
Republic during JF= NAH I said I wouldn't go back but I did because of that Meters/Panic Foundation of Funk show, which was completely miserable. This belligerent young wook chick straight attacked my friend in the crowd outta nowhere!
That dude owns/runs the place looks like Zach Morris. My friends and I were even joking about how The Republic is pretty close to how Zack Morris would actually have a club set up.
Add Eric Church as a rumor possibility....After playing Apr 27th and May 4 he has either of those Sundays off before playing his next shows.... He's enough main stream to be the one "country" act they normally have each year....

They haven't had a country headliner since 2015, but have had a number of pop/r&b headliners, a larger local market segment thus far missing from the lineup. In any case, I wouldn't bet on Church, who I think may be headlining the Bayou Country Superfest (along with Chesney).

Been a while since I've posted, but I'll weigh in here - without scouting tour dates, this is just my take. JF is going to do the stuff that appeals to their core - so the Stones, Seger, Buffett, Sanatana all seem like good bets. Could see someone like Steve Winwood or Clapton on there as well. I'd bet on Mavis Staples and/or Bonnie Raitt (though I don't know how recent either have played). On the "younger" side they'll surely do Revivalists, probably something like Hozier, Foster the People/Vampire Weekend for closing spots on Gentilly. Arcade Fire with Pres Hall also makes sense there. So does MMJ. For Congo Square, I could see them having gone for Gambino but for Voodoo having/losing him. They usually go safe there so maybe Snoop or Ice Cube. I don't do modern country, but surely Chesney/McGraw(with or without Faith HIll) or Zac Brown could do this fest.

MMJ has already announced their only 2019 dates. Arcade Fire is not a Gentilly act (and Steve Winwood, who I don't expect to return, was), and Gambino is probably too big to be ghettoized into Congo Square either. The former is a prime example of the kind of younger act I had in mind as pre-Shorty closer, though they might be better suited to Saturday evening, and I could see Gary Clark Jr. taking the Sunday afternoon slot. Those are the two big open ones afaic tell, and I'm starting to think Saturday is in fact a Bruce/Neil-level big name. I never expect Clapton given his limited schedule these days, but that's a possibility. Mavis and Bonnie both deserve headlining slots, of course, but unfortunately neither is treated as a headliner alone.

Have no doubt Gary Clark Jr will be on JF. I can't recall when Neil played last but $$ wise he'd have to be less than Bruce so that makes sense. Big, but not Stones $$ big. Also from the blues world, Buddy Guy/Taj Mahal/Robert Cray/Kenny Wayne Shepard/Tedeschi/trucks all seem like ones I could see on this year. Does Q get the Meters to get Art out for one final show? I don't know if he is capable of playing these days.

Robert Cray will be there on 4/26, but only Tedeschi Trucks would qualify as an Acura closer among the blues acts, and only on a Thursday, most likely, and in any event, they won't be there this year.
Karl Denson's Tiny Universe presents a tribute to Aretha Franklin at the Orpheum on May 3rd (2nd Friday) known as R.E.S.P.E.K.T - a special tribute to the queen of soul. The announcement promises special guests. Tickets go on sale today at noon:
------------------------------------------ JJ Grey & Mophro with North Mississippi Allstars and Samantha Fish are playing Orpheum on 4/26.
------------------------------------------ Midweek (Daze Between) has the NOLA Crawfish Festival at Central City BBQ. Acts announced so far:
Monday - Anders Osborne & Friends, Neville Jacobs (Ivan Neville, Cris Jacobs, Tony Hall & Brady Blade) Tuesday - Samantha Fish & Jonathan "Boogie" Long with NOLA Crawfish Fest Allstars (GPJ, Dave Malone, Billy Iuso & Terence Higgins) Wednesday - The Iceman Special & Many More
It sounds like the headliner lineup may go something like this:
4/25 Widespread Panic 4/26 Santana 4/27 Dave Matthews Band 4/28 Jimmy Buffett
5/2 Rolling Stones 5/3 Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band 5/4 Big Name Artist TBD 5/5 Big Name Artist TBD (and Trombone Shorty)
Non-Stones dates/weekends are educated guesses. That lineup is missing big (female) pop/r&b (Cher/Chic?) and indie rock (Arcade Fire?) acts, which in an ordinary year I'd expect to fill the remaining slots. Given that this is a big anniversary, however, it's possible they'll go full old-school and pull in a Neil or Bruce (though Seger + Springsteen seems a little much), maybe with a local-all-star set on closing day, and leave the younger acts to second stages.
Some of those first weekend guesses are probably wrong. Namely Widespread Panic - I'll fill that gap with Leon Bridges for now. Think Van Morrison's a possibility too, even though he played last year. That would probably push Dave Matthews to second Saturday (and Buffett to first), though I'm less confident about DMB than I am about the older acts. Still not sure about the closing day, but an Arcade Fire one-off with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band would make sense to me.
I don't guarantee all those names or dates, but I have a substantial basis for presenting them
I mean Stones, Bruce, Swift are all top 10 selling touring artists. That would be an insane run
Not sure about Bruce, but otherwise it seems reasonable. They usually release on a Tuesday so I was thinking next week or the week after. But it would be cool if the Jazz Fest lineup comes out this week. I’m interested mostly to see who they book on Stones Thursday and then what rappers they bring in to close Congo Square. My weekend nights are mostly covered with Disco Biscuits and String Cheese.
You realize that the "gotta be BS" is from a different user than the "inside info that's all already all over the internet" right? So, really not that crazy.

You realize I've been posting about this stuff for six weeks and that the people at the "Jazz Fest Forum" might not be the original sources of their material, right?
