I mean yeah this festival got Outkast as well, but The Killers coming to a fest this small is a big deal even though most people on this forum arent interested in The Killers and/or have seen them before
Lol, this line-up won't kill the fest. Not even close. Facebook comments love it.
Killers, Avetts, Tyler Childers, Maggie Rogers and Portugal the Man will easily sell this thing to a decent number. If anything, I expect it to be more crowded than 2018.
Forecastle's personality has changed 4 times since 2011. This is just the next change-up.
I agree on this. It's likely that this festival wont do well with the Inforoo crowd but I think overall the reception for this will be positive. The comments on facebook and instagram are generally positive.
Personally love this lineup and it's one of my faves of 2019. If we werent already committed to another big trip for a music fest this summer, I probably would be considering the trip (from east coast of canada).

I don't think this lineup is "bad", there just isn't anything particularly unique/exciting about it for me to travel to it. That's just me. Arcade Fire got me there last year, although there were other gems that showed up like FJM.
Yeah this is fine. It's not great but given this year in festivals it's decent. I was hoping for better but I still may go on Sunday. Friday isn't terrible either but Saturday keeps me from wanting to go to the whole thing. They sell daily passes for this right?
The Killers, Anderson .Paak, and The Avett Brothers according to this person: https://www.reddit.com/r/forecastle/comments/ap81i0/the_killers_are_headlining/

Louisville will go crazy for this lineup. Avett could sell out three nights at the Palace twice a year if they wanted to.
i skipped the killers at bonnaroo. did anyone else see them and what did you think?
Honestly I was ready to embrace them entirely and be into it which happens from time to time with a headliner I didn’t think I’d care to see, but man I personally felt they sounded rough. I mean like they just don’t sound like great musicians.

It doesn't help that they have touring members filling in for Keuning and Stoermer because the pair doesn't want to tour.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

It was my 3rd time seeing them, and I thought it was one of the best sets I've ever seen - they started off with Mr. Brightside, kept it fun throughout, and Brandon appeared to be engaged and in the moment. I think they and Anderson .Paak made the fest for me. Look forward to catching both at my first Forecastle.
The schedule drops for this one next Wednesday but the only suspense here is who is going to overlap slightly with the headliner. Although Sunday could bring some nasty conflicts I suppose. Who should I be excited about on Saturday though? Paak is solid and I've tried listening to each artist but it really seems like the weakest day. Bourbon trail or Churchill may be calling.
Johnnyswim replaces First Aid Kid .. I mean I like Johnnyswim just fine but First Aid Kid was a somewhat rare booking who I had never seen before so it's definitely a letdown they had to back out. Cold War Kids also added to Friday. Did someone drop out Friday or were they just added? I feel like if it was just an add the day that needed it more was Saturday.

I believe they did those 2 days as Cold War kids replace Highly Suspect On Friday & Johnnyswim replaces First aid kit on Sunday. Btw check out the Johnnyswim episode of Daryl Hall's show if you want to research them. Talented duo (now married w kids).

Hey so who are some of the smaller or lesser known acts playing this year that I should check out? I've seen almost everything on this lineup that I'm in to already so I'm going to relax a bit and try to discover some stuff. I'll start...definitely check out The Artisanals if you're there early on Friday.

oh hey, yeah I'm still going to this. I might check out Mattson 2 or the Artisanals if I get in early on Friday.
Then I'm going Hop Along > The Midnight > Cold War Kids > Chromeo > Portugal > Jungle > Killers
Saturday I'm trying to see Chelsea Cutler before my volunteer shift starts at 6. I do plan on watching Anderson Paak while I'm working though.
Sunday, volunteer in the morning. Sad to miss Sunflower Bean and Denzel Curry. Then I'm doing Andrew Bird > Tyler Childers > Chvrches > as much of the Avetts as I feel like standing in the back for.
Should be a relaxed weekend. Hope to drink a little bourbon and otherwise enjoy the nice (but hot) weather.

You and everyone else is gonna miss Denzel. Hope his illness isn't serious.

It's wild to me this festival lost Denzel Curry, First Aid Kit, Noname, Highly Suspect, Lauv, Calpurnia and I think a few others. The drop outs have been really harsh.
Weird year. And kind of a schizophrenic line-up with one day of rock/dance, one day of rap/new artists, and one day of indie/alt-country
idk. I'm just trying to have a chill weekend. We'll see how it goes.

This festival has always kind of been all over the map - I feel like they cater heavily to people that say "I want to go to a festival" more than the people that are going to see people perform. I'm super excited to go tomorrow, I adore the Killers and PTM opening will be a heavy combo but it's been years since I've been "wowed" by Forecastle.

Sturgill Simpson > Vince Staples > LCD Soundsystem in 2017 is one of the few times I've been legitimately blown away by Forecastle.
This Friday has that potential though. Chromeo > Portugal > Jungle > Killers should be a fun night.
Houndmouth will appear with Caamp today for those interested. Bad for fest but good for fans that attendance is down. May be even roomier today with Saturday lineup seeming less appealing.
Also, how did I not do bourbon lodge last year? That was a poor decision on my part.
Of all the Kentucky artists who could appear with the Killers last night (MMJ, Cage) and we get Jack Harlow? Sigh.

I am sitting at my desk at work extremely tired. Partied on Friday, Volunteered Saturday night and Sunday morning. But, I spent the weekend with friends and saw good music. It was actually a pretty solid Forecastle and overall, I think I enjoyed it more than last year.
Chromeo > Portugal > Jungle > Killers were all fun. Anderson Paak was awesome. Tyler Childers and Chvrches were awesome. Lettuce was fun. There was a guy just throwing lettuce up into the air during the show which was really funny. Also heard Moon Taxi, Chelsea Cutler, Playboi Carti, Nelly, a few songs of Andrew Bird and some local acts.
Playboi Carti ended each of his songs with gun shots and started each one with sirens. Kind of a shitty thing to do at a music festival imo.
The fest is clean, easy to walk around, the food I had was all good. I don't have much to complain about other than the check-in line on Friday. Don't have the will call, single day, volunteer and every other kind of ticket only serviced by three staff members. If I'd had to work on Friday I would have been late, and I missed over an hour of music standing in the sun.
Otherwise great! Despite a hot and cold lineup where some big acts canceled, it was a lot of fun. Good job Forecastle people.
