I saw posts about the shuttles on the Facebook event page and the was confusion on if you're allowed to just walk the or not. Can you confirm? Sucks you missed an early act or two, how long did you end up waiting?

You can walk and you can also take an Uber up front (even though it says you can’t).
We wound up taking an Uber and walking right in (security takes about 15 minutes). Met someone who waited 2 hours for the shuttle. Parking was free because the credit card machine was broken.
Already posted my opinions on entry here’s the rest (caveat I left for Phoenix) -
Festival: Great vibe throughout the day. Everyone seems like they’re there to have fun, not the influencer type vibe. Food is similar to Coachella, so are prices. Some good local places ($1 shots at the liqueur stand). The side stage rotated after each act - it’s really even though the sets are short. Everything is clean, environment is beautiful, really a well done day event.
Music: A lot of acts (especially Passion Pit) you can tell were really stoked to see the huge crowded supporting them. Past their prime, but deeply supported - the vibe felt very strong. MGMT crowd surprisingly bland. YYYs were soooooo strong and the crowd was loving it, I was shocked. Get there early or you’ll be far at main stage. VIP is perfectly empty and you can be close if you want to upgrade.
Crowd: GA has a lot of fun (breakbot, passion pit, YYY were all strong crowds. People are nice, leaning older crowd, and not there just to be seen.
Overall great festival (minus entry). So much energy from the acts - it’s obvious how much they’re feeling the energy, perhaps unusual for some of them at this point in their lifespan as a band. Really looking forward to a second year (hopefully).
Top Acts: YYY, MGMT, Passion Pit, Miami Horror, Beach House Disappointing Acts: Miike Snow, Tennis, Rapture Best Crowds: Breakbot, PP, YYY
Thanks for the review! I'm excited for tomorrow. I have VIP so it's nice to hear it wasn't crowded and seems like it might actually be worth as opposed to Coachella.

Thanks for the write-up! I've seen Miike Snow a couple times and was underwhelmed each time, so they're a safe skip for me. The Rapture are a must-see for me, though, so hopefully they up their game today.
How was the bottleneck between stages? Is the bridge easier to take than the tunnel or vice versa? I don't really want to spend 10 minutes stuck in a bottleneck after YYYs and miss songs from Beach House (though I might not even go to the main stage until YYYs, so I'll probably be stuck in back anyway).

Curious, what didn't you like about The Rapture?
VIP was way worth it. I’d just say if you want a better crowd experience then GA might be better for sets you want more energy around you.
Rapture sounded a bit off to me, kinda muddy (maybe blame sound issues?). He also just seemed a bit disinterested. The big songs still came across well, just overall not high enough energy. Maybe I was expecting too much.

There’s little to no bottle neck unless you leave right after the last song. Beach House started 10 minutes late so that also helped. The VIP area at main stage is really large, so if you go late to main stage acts you’re going to be reeeeallly far back. The worst bottleneck was headed towards Phoenix after Beach House. A lot of people left YYYs after Maps so it eased the transition.
Friends in my group who stayed for Phoenix echoed my same sentiment. YYYs brought it last night and were the real headliner.

I forgot how good The Faint were live. It felt a little weird seeing them in broad daylight, but they made it work. Grizzly Bear weren't so lucky in the daylight - I hadn't seen them since 2013, but remember them being divine live, and this fell a little short. Thought Washed Out and The Rapture were very fun.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs sounded great, maybe the best set of the festival (even if I would've traded "Under the Earth" for literally any song from the first 3 albums). Beach House are one of my favorite bands, and yet every time I've seen them (which is like 6 times), I've walked away thinking, "They were fine." Pooped out before Phoenix and decided to call it a night, continuing my streak of missing Phoenix at festivals repeatedly since I last saw them in 2010.
I'm not the biggest fan of Queen Mary Park as a venue, but if they hold this again, I'd go. Thought the food was great, even at typical festival prices.
Forgot to add, Saturday shuttle lines were pretty quick. I'm sure more shuttle stops helped, but there were also a lot of buses. Parked around 12:30 and got in the festival less than an hour later, for what it's worth.
Also what was up with the screens playing ads between bands? I'd expect that shit from the Kaaboos of the world.
Had a real great time yesterday, really well done fest and I'll definitely be back if they have a second year with a similar lineup. Couple thoughts:
-Maybe I just got super lucky, but my Uber driver was able to drop me off essentially right outside the entrance and it took me a grand total of 10 minutes from getting dropped off to being in the fest. At the end of the night, it looked like we were going to be on the precipice of a cluster fuck, but the shuttle line moved quickly (10-15 mins til on a shuttle?) and we got an Uber less than 10 mins after getting dropped off the shuttle line. Super easy in and out all things considered. Additionally, I was worried the bridge/tunnel would be a cluster in between sets, but there was never really any issues moving around the venue. Drink lines were fine. I waited a while for Greek food, but that was voluntarily and eating right at 6:30 PM.
-All the bands seemed to really love being there in a festival with similar acts who they grew up with. At least 4-5 acts mentioned how much they loved playing a fest with this type of lineup.
-The pacing of the day felt like I was on crack between the second stage having 5 minute set breaks with the rotating stage, perfectly staggered sets from the second stage and first stage, and 30-45 min sets early. I felt drained by the time Phoenix was getting on, in a good way.
-Hard to say what's the "best set" since all these bands are essentially known commodities at this point, but Passion Pit was the set that most furthest exceeded my expectations. Only saw them in 2013, and this was a different level of energy, the crowd was amazing, sound was perfect, etc etc. Grizzly Bear probably the set that didn't really do much for me - but playing 5 PM kinda drained any energy they normally get. Starfckr and Tennis great early sets. YYYs were alright I thought - my whole group kinda all agreed good night, but not stand out from Karen O. The Faint were great, and The Rapture I thought excellent too. This was my 12th Beach House show, and their shows are essentially like going to church for me, so hard for me to be unbiased, but all in all a solid set from them.
Plenty of acts they can book. LCD and Vampire Weekend can easily headline. The Format for the main reunion and just everyone they didnt have last year.
I made a list of everyone from the era that is active and could be booked.

Eh I think some of these don’t fit. Artists like The Darkness, Kasabian and Jenny Lewis don’t really fit with last year’s lineup unless they want to expand. Stuff like CSS, Interpol, Toro y Moi, Matt and Kim, Metronomy and others are more along the line of what I’d expect.
