Soooooo is Ted going to quit or are they going to fire him??
I know it’s silly, but his lack of development as a coach really bothers me this season. Feels like Ted has been completely mailing it in. I hope that the last piece of the newest episode is the start of a recommitment to the team.

I'm loving the bromance between Roy and Jamie. Teaching Roy how to ride a bike was so cute. Lots of people opening up to who they really are in this episode. Ted's about to wreck the league with the triangle offense too.

I know everyone's shipping Keeley and Jack, but boy howdy, does this show not seem to care about power dynamics in its romantic pairings. Jodi Balfour is awesome, and yay Keeley, but also isn't Jack Keeley's boss, which makes their romance a little bit icky? I don't know - maybe it's just me, but I had similar feelings about Rebecca/Sam, and the people making the show, at least so far, don't seem to think that's something that matters at all.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

jack is keeluh's funder, right? Not exactly a boss but does have some financial sway over her.
I think it's not as bad as Sam and Bex, which was egregiously bad.
How could anyone hate this episode? It had great banter and chemistry between multiple sets of characters, a fix to what’s wrong with the team and Coach Beard dressed as Piggy Stardust.

Yah I think Jack and Keeley are decently matched in terms of power. Jack isn’t a personal investor, her company is the investor. Yes of course her company could fold or pull out, but also…it’s a workplace. They are all meeting at work.
Rooting for the gays, sorry. Not all eccentric women are rehabs for men.

I'm sorry though who is Keeley?
Jamie saying her name deserves to be typed out every time I just love it so much.

my maybe warm take is that a lot of people who don't like sitcoms like Ted Lasso, because great writing, directing, acting, etc. transcends genre. but then when a sitcom does sitcom things, like splitting off characters into groups to go on an adventure for an evening, or we are asked to accept silly things like Roy doesn't know how to ride a bike, these people get confused and upset.
it's kind of like if I hated zombie shows but loved Last of Us, then get mad when a bunch of zombies show up. it's like this isn't why i like the show, but my preferences don't change the fact that it's a zombie show.
I want to like it, but this show is losing me a bit. Cramming so much into each episode, but a lot of it seems like filler.
This past episode did feel bloated. And look, I'm all for silly shit, but the strings on penises thing was dumb. Though maybe it was worth it for the joke with Roy trying to rework the string thing.
The Sam immigration thing was feeling a little too "a very special episode" for me, but his dad was great and I really like what he said about fighting forward.
I knew the team would show up at the end and rebuild the restaurant as soon as it got trashed. It was still nice though. Just not surprising nice. This show is at its best when the emotion is surprising, or shocking even, a la the darts scene.
Glad wonder kid finally got his date but Jesus it took forever to get there.
It's not losing me, but this was the first episode this season that felt wobbly.
They did a nice job of connecting the "lasso method" to total football, but again as soon as they described total football in the last episode I made the same connection Trent crimm the independent did at the end of this episode.

Oh sweet Jesus I have thoughts about Keeley’s storyline in this last episode.
I’ll say I liked that they showed why Ted & Melissa were married in the first place. Also made me think Rebecca and Ted COULD be end game but I doubt it.
I know it’s always been a little corny, that’s what made it great in the first place, but i think it’s just gone off the rails in that regard recently. Most conflicts have “a very special episode” vibe, like someone else said, after-school special-esque. The ‘funny’ parts are just kind of cringe because no one would ever talk or act like that. Still enjoying it, mostly, tho.
They have to be setting it up for Nate to come back and replace Ted right?
it feels like they are setting it up for there to be real stakes on the line when West Ham/Nate come to the race course later this season. And Nate is in someway going to have the lasso method click for him. This could end up with Ted leaving and Nate replacing him (maybe after Rupert fires him for not being ruthless enough).
