Rupert is definitely a "steal yo girl" vibe king but Jade isn't having any of it.
Yeah it felt like more than that?? Like they maybe knew each other? Also with the name thing. But that could obviously be him dismissing Nate by getting it wrong.
If this was like a drama I can see that, but I think he was negging. First it was "can I get her to like me" then it was "Fine, you're not buying what I'm selling, you're beneath me anyway"
Yes sorry, should I put that in spoilers?? I forgot the rule in this thread.
No. that's fine.
And am I the only one that says I'm going to go poopay and their non watching spouse looks at them funny?
Great, now I can repost my comment about saying "why not, it's already a mess of a season that makes no sense".
It's a weird LGBTQ hail mary of a 3rd season only to make one storyline feel like it's 2002 and the other be like "Hot lady is actually a bitch". I mean, it do be that sometimes, but I would like to see more representation.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

And so neatly fixed with Rebecca swooping in with funding lol
In other news, ZOMGGGGG no more Rebecca/Sam, please. I was so happy we seemed to have left that behind.
Also, fun fact: Apparently, Nick Mohammed is apparently a skilled violinist IRL. That's actually him playing on the show, accompanied by his wife on piano.
Didn’t he just announce his first show in the US recently? I think it’s in NYC because of course.

This will come in handy when she sells the team to [insert someone else]

I’m only about a third of the way through the latest episode, but it really should have come with a trigger warning for children of outwardly sociable but inwardly damaged mothers who won’t go to therapy. Every interaction between Ted and his mom so far has me on the verge of a panic attack.

THANK YOU FOR THE WARNING.
Same warning for "Mrs. Davis" if that's your damage, though the mom isn't outwardly sociable out all. But the storyline / dynamic was cathartic and not triggering overall, so I still recommend.

Seeing Jamie & his mom made a lot of sense, even if it was the squickiest thing ever. “My sexy baby” made me laugh. I’m happy his step-dad is a nice normal guy who likes “Bake Off”. That applause for him walking off the field made me cry. He’s come a long way.
Love the running joke of Keeley being on hotel tv.
I think Van Dam is the surprise season three supporting character MVP for me.
Beard & Nate scene made me cry but I think I’m PMSing.
I didn’t relate to Ted’s mom issues because my mom is…way meaner and socially cold, withdrawn. That age group, especially women, doesn’t do therapy nearly as much as our generations and the younger ones. Maybe that’s how mean and cold my mom is, but to me, Ted’s mom is super nice, a lot like Ted. She says “congrats” and makes him food. Yeah the avoidance at the start of the trip is classic Avoidant Attachment style / Boomer move, but overall like, I’d give her a “B+” for mom-ing as a boomer. She says sorry! I wish my mom could even have a conversation with me! Ugh. I was bracing myself based on Jorge’s comment, but maybe that’s why my expectations were so high.
No matter what happens to wrap up this mess / droll of a season, it’s been all the Rebecca content I could’ve wanted. This show gave us Hannah Waddingham & I’m sure as hell grateful for that.
def hoping keeley says to roy she doesn't want to get back into a serious relationship with him, but i'm 50/50 of what will actually happen.
so i guess: roy as head coach and then beard + nate taking roy's spot?? i don't see beard as head coach, but i also don't see him working "for" nate, even after the forgiveness speech.

Ah, the Ted stuff with his mom hit very hard for me. I agree his mom is probably nicer than my mom - a "thank you/fuck you" sort of conversation would probably end with my mom threatening to kill herself, like she did in a couple of arguments we've had in the past couple of decades. But there were enough shades there of how we interact that it was a pretty emotional watch. And while Ted's mom is super-nice, I saw it as toxic in the same way Ted's "CHEERFUL AT ALL COSTS ZOMG" attitude has been shown to be not a healthy way of dealing with pain over the course of the show. I mean, she came there primarily to tell him that Henry misses him and she doesn't think he should be over there in the UK, but it took days and days and a big, emotional confrontation from Ted to get her to just say it out loud. Passive aggression is still aggression, you know?
Anyway. Again, I do agree that Ted's mom isn't the worst, but it was still fairly triggering for me. As my parents have aged into their late 70s, I've thought once or twice about what a weird mixture of emotions I'm going to feel when my mom dies, and that "thank you/fuck you" dichotomy really hit home.
I also loved Beard's scene with Nate. Strong work from Brendan Hunt.
Another Sam/Rebecca moment, which...ugh. Enough, already.
On the other hand, the will-they-or-won't-they with Roy and Keeley is killing me. Yes, I know most folks 'round here don't share my Roy/Keeley shipdom, but I'm riding it down throwing buckets overboard, damnit. I have a feeling they won't end up together, and I'm big sad about it.

Sorry I didn’t mean to downplay your feelings about your mom! Mommy Issues are Le Worst.
I don’t care about the Sam / Rebecca thing as much anymore since he’s got another business now, he’s more established, was a captain for a bit. But maybe it’s more like what I’m gonna say about Keeley / Roy…
That look Sam & Rebecca share during the movie, the friendship Keeley wants with Jamie & Roy, that feels very queer. We don’t forget the good memories and special connections once the dust of a breakup settles (unless it’s like abusive) and we all remain friendly if not actual friends. “We may not have worked together as a romantic couple but that doesn’t mean we can’t be a support for one another”. I like the gray area of kindness & love for someone even if there was some sort of formal reason you couldn’t talk to one another if you didn’t want to (see also: Rupert’s wife & secret girlfriend coming to Rebecca). Leave the door open to the people you care about, give them a second chance after amends have been made even though the second chance may not look like the first chance: Keeley turning ex’s into friends, Nate turning into a real boy & non-competitive coach, Rebecca helping the woman Rupert left her for to - I assume - leave Rupert, Sam moving on with his restaurant, Ted going home as winner but also knowing how to be an effective purposeful father.
Why do they keep insisting this was a season finale? That felt like a definite series finale to me.
As usual, everything felt cute and clean. Keely stays single, Roy takes over the team (called it), Rebecca somehow runs into boat guy after leaving Ted, Sam finally joins the Nigeria team, Beard stays and of course, Ted goes home to what seems like an unhappy married ex wife. The show ended as it started, a feel good story of companionship and family.

Haven't been watching this season, but seems like it's be a bit of both series and season finale from what I have read. Meaning Ted Lasso the show is over as Ted Lasso the character is completed as in Jason Sudeikis I think was ready to move on. But it seems enough people involved in the show want the story to go on so I'd say a sequel series focusing on Roy, Beard, and the team is likely. Will just need to change the name and hence start a new series because it would be weird to have a show called Ted Lasso without the title character. Again, haven't watched this season because I heard it wasn't very good, so I don't know who else would hypothetically come aboard a sequel series besides Roy and Beard based on how this ended.
