I'd contend that if you haven't heard it ten thousand times on 104.5 JACK FM it doesn't count as classic rock
Then does that make it a radio format? A friend once interviewed for a DJ job at the classic rock station in Metairie. They had thousands of cds and asked him how many he thought they played from. Turned out to be only a couple hundred and even then one maybe two songs off any given album. So if you’re getting Freebird, Stairway to Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody, I Just Want to Make Love to You, Come on Baby Light My Fire, Born to be Wild, etc. is that different from the rock era itself? If classic rock is the hits, I’m not changing my vote to nuke that shit. If it’s the era of 1960’s and 1970’s rock, it’s a different conversation.
I’ve always been sort of mad that hyperpop was a loosely connected but stylistically similar enough grouping of artists/songs forced together into a genre by Spotify, but this draft has made me realize that most genres of music are basically the same thing except they were defined either by radio stations or Billboard chart names.
there are far more great "classic rock" acts than "funk" acts, even though both genres can go straight to the dumpster
I won’t be mad if classic rock goes before funk for the whole “white guy” of it all but it’s a LOT of music. It all essentially rock before 1995 (yes they play nirvana & Pearl Jam on classic rock stations now - I hate it)

As someone else said before, one you remove psych and metal from classic rock, all you're left with is the eagles
