I’ve always been sort of mad that hyperpop was a loosely connected but stylistically similar enough grouping of artists/songs forced together into a genre by Spotify, but this draft has made me realize that most genres of music are basically the same thing except they were defined either by radio stations or Billboard chart names.
I was gonna post a “who cares all the major genres are the same anyway” in response to 3post1jack1’s election night joke but it looks like we got here organically so bully

Oh I wasn’t entirely clear when I wrote my original post but when I said “most genres of music are basically the same thing” I mean most genres of music have the same story, not that they all sound the same. I don’t think sorting music into genres is inherently bad! It’s just sometimes frustrating and redundant.
