I posted this in another thread but it may be better put here.
This hammock was in the K-Mart circular. It is a folding one that will make transportation easy. It is only 49.99. I am going to go see if they have any at my local store. I will let you know how it looks.
Damn! I drove all the way to the nearest K-Mart (none are close by), and they didn't have any hammocks left for me to look at. I did, however, get a raincheck, which will freeze that price for a month. It looks pretty much the same as the one I found at BB&B, but MUCH cheaper.
Did you get a chance to check it out yet?
Yeah, they were out at the one I went to also. And it wasn't a short drive either. There is another one going the other direction but I called and they said they didn't have any either. I am starting to wonder if they ever did, kind of like the ones supposedly at Big Lots. I am about to give up on the hammock idea and use the money on something else. I can just relax in a chair with a beer in the periods that I am at camp.

You can come lay in my hammock, I'm starting to wonder if everything will fit in my car.

To go back to the subject of fans. I bought the o2Cool fans mentioned in this thread and then found out about a fan made by Ryobi that uses the 18 volt batteries that work with their cordless tools. It is more expensive ($30) but if you already have the 18 volt batteries then the price is not much different than the cheaper fans once you consider their battery cost. the other benefit to this fan is that it can really move some air. I never tested the cheaper fan for comparison but I doubt D-cell batteries can compare to this thing.

I sincerely apologize for the delay. The last box of these got misplaced in the warehouse, and they finally located it today. I told my supervisor about your delay, and he is personally going to make sure yours gets shipped out first. They are also going to include a special coupon that allows a 10% discount off as many purchases as you would like from our website colemanoverstock.com during the month of May. (typically it doesn't take this long to ship, and I feel awful since I thought this was going out last week when we spoke!)

yay! anyone who needs a discount code i should have one in a few days
I went to "Linen-n-Things" yesterday to buy the All Weather Travel Blanket that they had which is the exact same thing as the one in the link posted above for 19.95.
It was half off so I got it for 10 bucks! Woo Woo!

You know, I checked both of those out, and I wasn't impressed. I was hoping the bottom side would be completely waterproof, but it's only water-resistant. There's a product sold on a number of internet sites that looks to be just what I'm looking for:
Thanks for the tip......I'm curious as to whether the prices currently listed will be the sale prices? Just bought the backpack chair from them.....if the price goes down in a few days, I wonder if they'll credit me the difference.
Good news! I called REI today, and they refunded me the difference (and it saved me about $15)......gotta love that good customer service!

What goes around comes around. You must have done something nice for someone
Ok, I've been looking at this Coleman Steel Cooler for the last 3 years always pre-roo and I can never justify spending over 100 bucks on it. But I'm sick of having to buy multiple bags of ice for rip-off prices, and since I currently have tickets to 4 festivals (!) this summer, I decided it was finally time for the investment...
Also, the fact that it was the cheapest I have ever seen it (with free shipping) didn't hurt. So it's $89.99 but it's supposed to keep ice for 5 days - thought I would pass it on incase anyone was on the fence about it like me
Since I'm going VIP, I don't have to worry too much about bringing food to cook. I'm to the point where I don't even think I'll bring my grill, just snack foods like granola bars and fruit leather.
But Tara's mention of coolers had me thinking. The cooler I have now is a Igloo Ice Cube. Not rated for multiple days or anything, but I'll really only be worried about keeping drinks cool. Do you think it would be worth it for me to buy a five day cooler?I can't decide.
I also need two camelbacks. Where can I find the best price?
Also, I came across some outdoor grass carpet for $10 at Gabriel Brothers. I thought something like this *might* be nice on top of the rough (& sometimes tall) grass. What do you guys think?

ok, enough of my shopping list!
I think buying the steel one depends on either how much $ you can spare or how much use you'll get out of it. I decided its worth it to have cold beverages this year and skip the ice bill - and that's all I use it for every year, I do not do the cooking thing at roo - I love the vendor food!
Even if it's just to keep drinks cool, if you have a regular cooler, you will be be bying overpriced ice every day thanks to the Tennessee sun.
I got my camelbak at www.ebags.com over 2 years ago and I love it and it's still in great shape after many uses. I recommend checking out that site every couple days if you're interested in a camelback brand one (or another pricey brand), cause they have often-changing promotions like 20% off, free shipping, etc... definitely sign up for their e-mail list, it can be very worth it! If you don't need to use it much and aren't picky you can pick up cheaper ones at Walmart for about $10.

i defintely wouldn't be springing for the steel one. just a insulated one that's rated for 5 days. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one. I've seen a few but some I think only say 5 days on their sticker. they don't seem like the lids are heavy duty enough to really keep things cold.

I have a regular insulated (non-metal) cooler I have had for years that has the 5-day rating. It works very well. As long as it is closer to full than it is to empty it will stay for the whole roo. I use the cooler for everything.
Sportsman's Warehouse has turned out to have the best values on a lot of stuff of anyplace we could find here in Columbia, SC. It beat Walmart on most camping items. No cheap tents and the coolers are higher-end only, but the prices are excellent for the quality of items sold. They had Coghlans heavy steel nail tent stakes for $2.25 for a pack of four (ozark trail at walmart are $2 for a pack of four). Kelty NoBendiumII stakes 6 for under $10. MSR Groundhog stakes less than $2 each. Lots of other stakes too at good prices. The single-burner coleman perfectflow propane stove $25 (the one that has its own base instead of standing on top of the propane tank). We bought a ton of stakes. They carry a lot of the same stuff as REI, but the prices are much better. We happened to be in the REI in Greensboro a few days ago and it was way overpriced by comparison. Also, they run frequent promotions so keep an eye on them.
For coolers, we saw WalMart has a decent-looking Igloo 5-day rated 50qt cooler with wheels and a telescoping handle at $27. Oh and the Walmarts in our local godless commerce haven (Irmo, SC) had a decent rubber tent stake mallet with a hook on the end for pulling out stakes for under $3.
BigLots has a ton of tarps for sale. The light duty one wont be good for a shelter but might be ok to cut into a tent footprint and was only $3 for 8x10 ft. Heavy duty 12x16 was $13 I think and looks good enough to be used for a shelter/shade, plus it's silver color, too. We might go back and get one and tarp the stationwagon to help keep it cooler. Nice heavy bright orange poly rope for guy lines was 100ft for $1.50.

Oh, and some Kroger grocery stories have some good deals on camping stuff if you happen to be near one. The kinda old run-down one just a few blocks from our house had a queen sized flocked airbed with battery-operated pump for $20, foldable canvas chairs with carrying bags 2 for $10 (seem decent), croc knock-offs for $7 (sorry, cant stand the feel of any crocs so cant judge them) and some other stuff too.
Mind you, we happened to be in a fancier Kroger about 10 miles away a few days ago and they had none of this, just a bunch of metal patio furniture, but it was all upscale yuppie wanna-be Publix Kroger, not the local coupon-rummagin', manager's discount, regular folks Kroger we usually shop at.

Just got back from Dicks......they have a ton of campuing stuff on sale especially canopies and tents. we just got another canopy today becuase we werent happy with the one we bought off the internet. They had first ups for $60. Pretty sturdy and of course easy to set up.
After squatted dressing sessions, climbing over friends to get out of the tent, and the extremely muggy small space inside our old tent, we decided it was time to spring for a new tent. Ordered the Hobitat 4 last night from REI for ~$200. I remember looking at it last year pre-Roo for ~$300! So excited to have such a spacious tent for just two of us this year. And after ordering it, I'm finally starting to get in the real Roo mood. Last year, this was just about the time I was ordering my tickets!
