The spikes that come in the bag are too short to do you much good. You want to look for Coleman 10" spikes, they can be found at Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc... usually in the camping section. www.amazon.com/Coleman-10-Inch-Steel-Tent-Stakes/dp/B002HU086C/
Just keep an eye out for them, they will sometimes be $2 with free shipping on Amazon, and should be available in big box stores for under $6.
I will second these. I have used them every year I have went to Bonnaroo and never had any issues.
I found these in the camping section at Wal Mart for less than $2.

I have broken the edges (graby thingy parts) all of these that I have purchased, makes it a BITCH to pull those bastards out. I realize I may be Thor but still. come on man.

I let the "grabby thingy" slide to where they rest on the ground, so they are away from the hammer. Also, I try to be not shitty at hitting the giant nail. It totally helps.

Thor has more power than accuracy!! I can not help it
I pulled out all of our Roo supplies yesterday and started resorting and reorganizing everything. I opened up my camelbak and could smell "Roo". If you've been, you know that smell. Kinda a mix between dirt, sweat, sunscreen and a little something extra I can't quite put my finger on. It brought a smile to my face. it's looking like it's going to be just my husband and I this year (versus going with a group in previous years) so we're having to rethink our setup a bit. When we do our practice run, I'll post a pic.

So.. I just pulled out and set up this shade tent that I had in mind for bringing to Bonnaroo, because I already owned it.. When I set it up it was almost 12x12. I'm just camping in GA and was wondering if you guys thought I'd have enough room for it? We are planning on sleeping on cots under it so we probably won't be setting up an actual tent.
I'm also bringing my truck which is about 7ft wide.

Old age (I'm an ancient 32) and a lucky roadside find changed my campsite quite a bit this year:
You FOUND a camper??
Well, I had to pay for it after finding it....but I've been shopping them for the better part of three years, and this cost less than the combined GA tickets of the four "roosters that will be staying in it.....so ya, in my eyes I basically found it

So I added the addition of our sleeping tent onto the back there, how we planned to have it ideally (someone I'm going with expressed strong disinterest in just sleeping on cots under the shade tent). If we don't have enough room I'm hoping we can just move the tent further into the shade tent etc. the whole thing measures about 11x17. This would be all the room we need... Do you think we'll fit? Sorry for all the questions, I realize the only real way I'm going to know is getting there and seeing what I end up with around me but a general consensus or other suggestions etc are always helpful/welcome.
LovelyCreature you should be fine. Our camp neighbors last year practically built a house (not kidding, it involved scaffolding) and nobody said a word. What you've got seems like a pretty common setup.

A tent with shade/canpopy structure is pretty much the standard set up. We have a 6 person tent for just my husband and I and then an EZ Up, and we never have an issue with space.
This is how we beat the heat, and stayed cool all weekend. No joke that water stayed cool, and the rule was to wipe off with baby wipes before stepping into it. We mostly just soaked our feet, but it kept us cool!

we have the same froggy mushroom tapestry!
I really need to buy more tapestries because some of those now decorate my sewing room!
Love the idea of the kiddie pool under your canopy. Last year, by Saturday we were able to condense our coolers and used an empty one (but still had melted ice water) to soak our feet in. Most amazing, exhilarating feeling ever! I think I need to go buy a kiddie pool now though.
so basically reading this thread has given me the world's worth of anxiety and i honestly don't think i should even do this anymore.
i'm out here thinking oh i'll buy a tent maybe a couple sheets throw it together maybe an inflatable bed would be dope
ya'll are out here making masterpieces and my shit is going to fail miserably.
I don't know if you're joking, but I have anxiety too so I'm going to respond seriously. Don't let this thread scare you away! You need a place to sleep and some shade. That's it. You don't need pools and beds and couches and fans. All that stuff is nice but not necessary. Get a tent and an ezup (academy.com for $50) and something to sleep on. You'll be fine and you will have an amazing time.

This is all very true, but I would debate the fan being considered a luxury. Last year I had two fans and slept with one on each side of me. I credit that and a comfy sleeping spot as the sole reason I slept until 10am everyday. Same set up at All Good, got the same results.
I would pay the $15 for a battery operated O2 Cool fan from Walmart, the black 10in is the best, it's in the fan section and the camping section. Check both spots though because sometimes the put each in the other's spot, if that makes sense. It's beyond worth it.

It was a stroke of genius while we were last minute shopping in 2011. Our lovely neighbors helped us fill it from the pods, and we shared it with everyone all weekend. Unfortunately the kiddie pool didn't survive the storm that happened during post show clean up that year. Since it's just my boyfriend and me this year we're doing a smaller one.

Very great advice. The first year I went I had a small two person tent, no canopy, a tiny fan, a box of food and water. It was a great year! I went solo, my tent flooded from the 2009 thunderstorm, and I had nothing but my blanket to dry it with. That was the best year ever! I have my greatest memories from that year. From getting lost trying to find my tent, to losing one of my sandals in a rain filled ditch. Even though not having a canopy totally sucked at first I had amazing neighbors who shared theirs with me. They even helped me set up my tent. I'm still friends with them to this day. That's why I love Bonnaroo.
It took a couple of years to get the supplies I have now, and some of the stuff in that picture is compiled from three people. My point is you don't need much to have an amazing time! (but a small fan definitely helped!)
tbrunker yes. It has taken me since 2008 to build up my supplies pile. I add something new every year. My first fest we didn't even bring chairs lol. Just a shitty tent that was missing some poles so we had to Gerry rig it stay up. That, too, was an amazing weekend.
Didn't know what thread to post this in, and figured this was as good as any.
Does anyone use Tent Pole Spikes for their canopy, and if so, where can I find them?
Stake down every tents and canopy you bring. They'll blow away or become airborne if the wind really picks up. You can get them at Walmart, outdoor stores (rei), army surplus stores to name a few. Do a little research as to how to properly stake down tents and canopies.
Our dry run set up, making sure we didn't lose or break any poles or other pieces since last year. Add in tarps, tapestries, lights and other fun decorations
The ezup is ozark trail from Walmart. 9 ft by 9 ft. Super easy to put up. The tent brand is embark. It's actually a 6 person tent. The side windows have poles that push them out a bit. We just didn't need to put those in for this run through. It came from target about 5 or so years ago. It's held up great through 4 years of roo and a few camping trips.
