Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Tell me what shoes have proved to be the best for Bonnaroo?! Unfortunately, I tried flip flops 3 years ago, but quickly learned NOT to wear those! Tell me what you wear or will wear!
I rocked the crocs last year, and although theyre nice I think I'll be rocking my old waiter shoes this year..
I don't know where I got them but the padding in them is meant for being on hour feet for hours and hours at a time, I think they'd do well at roo... If it rains though, crocs all the way
It skeeves me to wear open-toed shoes in to a port-a-potty, so I am usually closed toe. I have a pair of Columbia hikers/walkers that are pretty good for festivals.
I wore Old Navy flip-flops in '05, didn't quite work out so I switched to some shell toe adidas, which is what I wore in '06 as well. For '07, however, I went ahead and invested in a nice pair of Teva sandals, and they worked out great. Most of the people I noticed in '07 were wearing Tevas/Chacos or Crocs. Here's a link to the "Tevas vs. Crocs" thread.
I wore tevas last year. They were great for a lot of reasons mentioned in the crocs vs. tevas thread. However, by Sunday my feet were pissed as hell with me. This year I'm thinking of bringing a more sneaker/running shoe type just for some extra cushioning.

I wore my trusty Birk sandals my first year and had really bad blisters.
This year I bought Crocs on the recommendations of many here at Inforoo (as much as I hate they way they look). They were the best $30 I have ever spent. My feet did not hurt all weekend
I wore Birkenstocks this past year and my feet were (relatively) fine. I didn't get a single blister all weekend and I didn't have to sit and rest nearly as often as expected.

Crocs. Crocs crocs crocs.
I bought my crocs after inforoo talked me into it last year...GREAT investment. I wore mine all last Bonnaroo, no blisters and hardly ever had to sit down. Plus they're wonderous to keep clean, and work really well if have to trudge through mud. I <3 mine!!!! Invest in some...your feet will thank you.

Me too. Thought they were the ugliest damned things I had ever bought BUT my feet loved me for them. Wore my Birks for half of Saturday and I couldn't wait to change out of them.
I might bring a pair of Docs to wear with the kilt this year though, the Crocs looked plain silly with it.
and actually, i remember i bought the target brand cause i didn't want to ruin my real pair... and they did just as fine as a real pair would have. so, don't stress about having to have actual crocs.
Crocs. I would wear them 24/7 if I could get away with it. THE most comfortable shoes ever.
I wear a half size and can't wear the s/m/l styles, I have to have sized ones and go up from a 6.5 to a 7. The Mary Janes are pretty darn cute, as crocs go.
In 2006, I bought some cheap Wal-Mart flip flops... they lasted, literally, all of Bonnaroo. But they were useless after that, and my feet were green for a few weeks.
This year I got some Crocs... HIDEOUS flippin' shoes, I know, but they really are made for situations like roo.
In 08, I plan on bringing my Crocs (still in great shape, mind you) and a pair of tennis shoes.
I don't have Crocs (because I'm a rebel) I have my Tevas which have done me fine for two Roos. What really saves my feet is switching shoes for late night. It confuses my feet and keeps them on their toes...

I think it all depends on how fast you want to get around. I've never worn Crocs, and never will (*shakes fist at all Crocs*), so I don't know if you can really move fast in 'em. I had to get around the grounds as quickly as possible to keep my schedule, so I was wearing DC skate shoes with nice padded socks. My feet were tired as hell by the end of the day, but at least I could move with the quickness if needed.

viva la croc!
I concur. I expected the Crocs to kill my feet by Sunday but they turned out to be the most comfortable shoes I've ever had ( and the ugliest) . The bonus is when they get all muddy they are easy to rinse off.

My routine:
Morning at camp - put on flip flops, chill, clean up and get ready to go to centeroo Put on crocs and head to Centeroo Head back to camp, wash off feet and Crocs Head back to Centeroo for late nights After late nights - back to camp, wash off feet and Crocs, put on flip flops, relax, go to bed
Wash, rinse, repeat
So essentially I brought crocs for centeroo and flip flops for camp. NOTHING feels better than going to bed with clean feet!
Ohhhhhhhhhh. Really? I had a nasty in-the-dark-port-o-potty experience this year that involved the bottom of my jeans dragging in some unidentified wet something. Seriously disgusting. No way I can go barefoot...I don't even know if I can go open-toed! Ah, who am I kidding? I don't even go barefoot in my own house!
