^^^^ I can totally relate to that...and I can say in all honesty that while I got my Sanuks almost entirely for 'Roo, I have worn the CRAP out fo them since then. They're pretty great for just wandering around on the weekends, or going to the beach etc. etc. I never though I would get the use out of them that I have.

Oh Oh Oh!!! I got a pair of Keens at the Goodwill of all places. Only paid $6 for them and they're perfect. I want to give them the true Roo test of shoes.
In the past I've worn Tevas when it's dry and hiking boots in the event of mud.
I'm such a pusher for them. honestly. I swear by nomadic state!
We're getting married in these sandals, but I couldn't wear them all weekend. They're also not good for walking around on concrete all day (like going to the zoo) but I LOVE them just the same. I tried them as river shoes on a float trip and I thought they would be uncomfortable and chafe, but they were the best river show I've ever had. They are fantastic shoes.
I posted this in the Girly Fashion thread, but this is actually a good thing to know about Crocs, generally.
Crocs will send you replacement rivets, or straps, completely for free! Go to their FAQ's on the official homepage: www.crocs.com/contact_us/faqs/ Under "Purchasing and Returns" there are a couple of questions about rivets and broken straps. Click in there. For simply registering and asking, they'll send you free rivets or straps! No shipping costs or anything.
I requested replacement rivets less than 10 days ago and already have them! They tossed a bunch of them in a padded envelope. Enough to last a really long time. Now that is how you do customer service!

Go out and find yourself a pair of "Sanuk" brand, "Sidewalk Surfer" style sandal/shoe hybrids. www.sanuk.com/ They come in a bunch of different models, run about $55 a pair and they are by FAR the best 'Roo shoe I have ever come across!
I just checked out the site, and they look great... I can't stand crocs, so I might be going to roo this year with sidewalk surfers of my very own
I've resisted Crocs thus far, but I might just knuckle under and get a pair. Bringing flip flops for the showers. Heck, I might even throw in my mud boots for good measure.
Make a note to pack moleskin if you're bringing sneakers. It is a lifesaver in the event of a blister.
and when moleskin is in short supply, one can always make due with a little foreskin. It has saved me countless times over the years.

the first year i wore my birks....they were ok but my feet were swollen and sore at the end of each day, last year i got crocs (maryjanes) and they rocked!! i loved them so much i even switched to crocs at work (i'm on my feet for 12 hour shifts)

Karma for sharing about the Sanuks! They look really comfy; like I'd end up wearing the hell out of 'em! I'll definitely be checking them out!
Also! Girls, I've been thinking more about the boot thing and remember that Sugar shoes makes really great canvas boots in both higher and lower styles. I'm thinking they might be a good 'roo shoe. I haven't worn them, but i'll be ordering a pair to see if I like them. Just passing it on since that might work for some of you too

I'll probably invest in a good pair of ascics or new balance. I'm a runner and running shoes are the most comfortable imo for long walking and standing
Tell me what shoes have proved to be the best for Bonnaroo?! Unfortunately, I tried flip flops 3 years ago, but quickly learned NOT to wear those! Tell me what you wear or will wear!
I wore Tivas the entire weekend with no problems whatsoever

By the end of the Roo weekend, your shoes will be destroyed...

After spending last 'Roo in Tevas, couldn't understand why anyone would be uncomfortable in them. But I only just realized that I was wearing one of the flip flop models with the mush sole. Like walking on squishy marshmallows. For at least the ladies, the models that have mush soles (of which I am aware, at least) are the flip flop mush, the olowahu, the kena and the elina. Seriously the most comfy sole I've ever felt!

here are the shoes i got for 10.00 at shoe.com with my sanuks. still love the sanuks but these are great little shoes for 10.00 and they are really cute and comfortable. if you are looking for a shoe to wear with jeans or shorts - you might look at these. they actually had two styles - the ywere under ladies casual and they are called BUM www.shoes.com/product.asp?p=1012381&variant_id=50302
I think it depends a lot on the weather as to what works. I wore reefs all weekend with no problem and all AND they were fine to wear again after I hosed em off at home. Then again 1) there was no rain last year and 2) i wear flip flops all the time so my feet are very used to them. I really hate crocs but I may break down this yr and hop on the bandwagaon...

Nooooo....fight the trend! Buy some Sanuks instead! That wa you can have something you wont be embarrassed to wear outside of 'Roo! (no offense to you Croc lovers out there)

Oh and karma to a fellow Carolinian!
Thanks for the karma! I will have to check out these sanuks. Could be just what I am looking for...
Last year I wore some cheap Walmart flip-flops during the day and most nights and they worked fine. I think it was '04 when it rained a TON (garbage piles for bridges, lakes of floating mulch, and the shoe sucking mud) and I wore a cheap pair of water socks or water shoes whatever you call 'em. They were great and we just threw 'em out afterwards. I have never tried crocs, they don't sound too bad but it seems like in the event of some serious mud they wouldn't hold tight. Think I'm looking into Keens or Sanuks this year.
