Ohhhhhhhhhh. Really? I had a nasty in-the-dark-port-o-potty experience this year that involved the bottom of my jeans dragging in some unidentified wet something. Seriously disgusting. No way I can go barefoot...I don't even know if I can go open-toed! Ah, who am I kidding? I don't even go barefoot in my own house!

Ugghhhh
BAREFOOT?
Are you KIDDING?
Hell no. I mean, do it if you want, it's your thing, but don't come crying to me when you cut your foot open on some glass and catch a disease. Plus all that gravel on shakedown...ouch!
i didn't go barefoot, but my faithful friend and companion did and i must say, much respect for his dirty wook skills, he has mastered 7th level wookdum
If you truly want to go barefoot stylee.. I'd make an effort to find some really hot asphalt and walk over barefoot in the heat of the day everyday for a few weeks before roo..
Somehow, with out going into long funny story, I lost my shoes at string cheese and walked back to camp wich was that far from the main entrance and cut my foot a little. The grass was dry and like a brillow pad not to mention the many rocks and lost items on the ground. Barefoot would not be a way to go unless you have years of walking with out shoes and unless your Franti that will not be so.

Keller could prolly do it
Yeah, I know a few old hippies that could but they have years of building the bottom of their feet up for it.
I wore Crocs in '06 and thought, "Hey, this is great!" the entire time.
Last year I wore my Crocs on the first day, switched to sneakers the second, and never looked back. Having clean feet, for whatever reason, helped me feel much more refreshed throughout the weekend. I also didn't have to worry about where I was stepping, which was certainly a plus. My feet were quite thankful by the end of 'Roo.

"You stick with me, you learn from the guys who been on the farm awhile, you'll be right. There is one item of ROO gear that can be the difference between a bonnaroo and a baddaroo.Socks, white cotton, ankle cut . Try and keep your feet dry when we're out humpin'.I want you boys to remember to change your socks wherever we stop. The corncat will eat a ROOster's feet right off his legs."

I wear sneakers or go barefoot, and my shoes always end up getting destroyed so I pitch 'em monday morning. I cut my foot one year and this past Rooo I had a hard time walking barefoot, not sure why since I've always done it in the past...but normally barefoot is my preference...
^ I feel ya.. I grew up in Adairville/Russellville Ky, and Adairville is mostly farmland. I was a country little boy who walked around for years on fine, sharp gravel and stones barefoot. I agree, you do build up a tolerance. As a result of my Ky years, my feet are forever made for rough terrain.
my sweetheart bought me a pair of those teva karnali wraptors, for christmas. i dont know how they will do but im kinda excited for those (and they are so god ugly). otherwise i say flips and crocs. and while crocs arent the best thing in the world ... they do the job. check payless or someplace with like the $10 knock off brand.

flip flops are fine unless it's MUDDY. then, it's horrible. you will lose your shoes to the mudgods of bonnaroo. if you don't, you'll end up slinging mud all over your @ss and back everytime you take a step. fffffwwwpt ffffwwwpt ffffwwwpt *spat**splat**splat* not good times
so roo 08 will be my first roo...i went to coachella 07 (first fest) and was barefoot all weekend long and in heaven (green grass to walk on)...went to voodoo 07 and had to be in sneakers due to the grounds being muddy (but like the kind of mud that is almost dry) and not barefoot friendly...how do the grounds compare to either of these fests?
Tevas last year. But I'm hearing what iridethecannibus says about the thwack, thwack of my Teva flip flops in the rain. Not an issue when it's bone dry and blazing hot, like last year! But I'm planning ahead and bringing both the Tevas and some newly purchased Crocs. Godawful ugly, but I see the utility.
I've resisted Crocs thus far, but I might just knuckle under and get a pair. Bringing flip flops for the showers. Heck, I might even throw in my mud boots for good measure.
Make a note to pack moleskin if you're bringing sneakers. It is a lifesaver in the event of a blister.
i live barefoot. however, last year a VERY sharp peice of straw caused a puncture in the bottom of my foot. although it hurt when i had to stand on it and walk on it - my real concern was that it would become infected and i would have to leave. camp was FAR from centeroo and im not sure how i would have managed had it gotten infected. bottom line - please be careful if you go barefoot.
