Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Here is some raw data from the '05 additions (maybe this gives us some indication of what to expect):
Bonnaroo 2005 announcements: Initial lineup: 1/19/05, 37 bands Round 1: 1/27/05, 5 bands (including Trey, Mike & Duo) Round 2: 2/7/05, 2 Bands (J5 & Black Crowes) Round 3: 3/9/05, 4 bands (inc. The Word, De La Soul) Round 4: 3/24/05, 6 bands (inc. Kings of Leon, RJD2) Round 5: 4/5/05, 4 bands (inc. Rat Dog) Round 6: 4/14/05, 9 bands (inc. Galactic, Herbie Hanc0ck)
All I can find on these boards about 2004 is that Round 4 was 4/16/2004, 7 bands including Praxis. It seems like that was the last announcement for 2004.
Conclusions? It seems like we can expect the adds to be done sometime in mid-April. I'm expecting three more rounds, about two weeks apart, each with 2-6 bands. Hopefully that means one next week. I think we may have 1-3 more "big" names coming, but I guess that's pretty subjective. I'm expecting one of them to be out of left field like Hanc0ck was.
I probably have the numbers wrong or something. I actually only counted 60 some bands on the schedule for 2005 which wasn't what I remembered. This year we have 71 so far and are expecting "more than 80". I could still see them doing a total of six rounds of additions, I just wouldn't expect any to be as big as the nine that were announced in round six last year.

^^^It would, but something tells me Lalapalooza gets them first.
Even if Lollapalooza or Bonnaroo gets the Pumpkins, it'll only be Billy & Jimmy Chamberlain. James Iha & D'arcy want nuthin' to do with a reunion. Which in turn would be worth absolutely nothing, cause if it ain't the original four, it ain't SH.IT!.......Zwan.....(yawn)

i seriously doubt that they would have pumpkins there with radio head.. us "traditional rooers" would truly have strokes.. plus wouldnt the pumpkins be a headliner?? and all those spots are taken, also i agree about it not being the original group, maybe that would be enough put them in a non-headlining spot... not a huge fan anways.. but i was more into them then radiohead...
I think the Smashing Pumpkins aren't likely at all. First, Lollapalooza would definately gey to see a reunion before Bonnaroo. And besides, even with the rumours about a reunion, I don't know if Billy Corgan could pull it off without D'Arcy and James Iha. I mean, half the band is hardly a reunion at all, or else Phish is already back (SerialPod).
I'd say the next round is going to be one or two artists and some Roo activities. I'm hoping for the Flaming Lips and Warren Haynes, along with the return of the silent disco. Maybe bring back the DJ school thing. That was pretty cool. I think they will use one of these rounds to announce the comedians in the comedy tent as well. They have overloaded the initial round with artists.
The difference between this year and other years though is that in the past the announcements said 60+ bands, but this year it says 80+.
Well, so far we have Oysterhead and Sonic Youth as the two big act additions. Didn't they say they would announce around 4 major acts in additions. So I'm breaking down the possibilities like this:
Potential Major Acts: Willie Nelson Pearl Jam Wilco Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals String Cheese Incident
Secondary Acts: The Flaming Lips The Arcade Fire Sufjan Stevens TV on the Radio Keller Williams (Big Gap in His schedule between Wakarusa Fest in KS and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Show in KS...take a wild guess which state's in the middle)
My best guess is that of the major acts TBA, Willie Nelson and Wilco are most likely. Both fit that big name not headliner slot.
Of the secondary acts, the Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire and Keller Williams.
As a side note, Doug Gilmour might be making the festival rounds in support of his new solo album. Anyone think he'd be a fit at roo?

Ha...I just realized I listed Doug instead of Dave because I grew up on hockey not Pink Floyd...

I'll bet Ben Harper is a no-go. His website says he'll be in Japan until June 9, and he starts a European tour June 22. Maybe I'm wrong and he'll come to TN in between. Hope so. I always had a gut feeling he'd be at Roo this year.
Maybe not in this round, but I'd say The Duo will get added. Their current tour schedule is over on April 22. They have nothing after that. Maybe I'm just hoping they'll get added. Great show last year.
I don't think the Mars Volta will be back this year. They are my favorite band no questions asked, but I just don't think they'll be there 2 years in a row. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they are. As a pessimist I'll either be right or pleasantly surprised.
I wonder if they(the promoters) are going to make their announcement this week with Lollapalooza making their inital announcement this Thursday. I am thniking there might be something new this week. Gut feeling.

I had a very similar inclination. These festivals are competing after all. I would look for something on Thursday or Friday to strike back at all the festival announcements made this week.

yes VOLTA!!. It was by far the best show last year. A lot off people have prolly still not come back from the trips they took during that show. Maybe if we just keep their name goin on here we can get them back. VOLTA VOLTA VOLTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know but I am definitely getting ansty. I'm sliding into "obsessively checking the official site 20 times a day" mode. I'm definitely expecting something this week or next.
The thing is, I don't even need any more bands, I could easily fill two weekends already. The only things that would really catch my attention at this point would be Ben Harper, Wilco or some hip-hop from Def-Jux or Quannum, and I'm trying to be realistic about those things happening. I guess I'm excited to see if they have something unexpected in store (like Herbie Hancock last year).

Last year there was a total of 78 acts. Eight of those were on Thursday ,so if you are just counting Fri-Sunday there were an even 70.
Right now we 9 on Thursday, so that leaves 62 during Fri - Sun, which leaves alot of room to add if they are saying 80+ acts this year.
What about Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven? They are playing Wakarusa and have been to the 'roo before. They played a great show in 04 (available on archive.org) and I think they'd be a great addition.
