Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Just about everyone I know, besides myself, have seen Jenny on her current tour with the twins and have been blown away. Hopefully they make it down to Manchester. That would be a beautiful thing.
Another interesting development, NIN announced the support acts for their summer tour: TV on the Radio and Bauhaus. However, TV on the Radio is dropping off the tour on the 14th of June. Perhaps because they're planning roo?
Somehow or another I get the feeling Jimmy Buffet will be there... I checked the tour schedule... There are constant dates until June 10th... and then he's got several shows starting on the 29th... call me crazy, but a kid can pray...

Mars Volta will not be back, nor sadly will the Duo... Tea Leaf Green announced on their website that they will not be playing Bonnaroo this year because Bonnaroo has a policy where they don't like to bring bands back for consecutive years... although I've noticed they are doing it with My Morning Jacket (and maybe some other bands?)... I just have a feeling Mars Volta and the Duo will fall into the TLG category and not get the consecutive invite like MMJ.... Round 4 will have to be big though to compete w/ Lolla... which does look quite ridiculous and I really wish I got the cheap early bird tickets but c'est la vie.... my guess is SCI and Flaming Lips and some comedy news

Ugh.
I spent a short while as "parrothead" and that was that. It came, it went, I'm done with it. He has his place and doesn't belong on any festival lineup as far as I'm concerned. Let me stereotype for a second after my experience and say that most of his fans simply don't like music. They like Jimmy and they like the scene.
I dunno, I think it might be fun to see him in a festival setting. I've been to 2 shows, both more than 5 years ago. He'll be playing here next month and me and my roomies are thinking about just going to check out the lot scene and not even go to the show...
I am dying over here waiting for more info. I check the bonnaroo webpage and my e-mail at least 10 times a day looking for Round 4 (not to mention the absurd amount of time I spend reading stuff on here). Surely they need to counter what I think is at least a solid Lolla line-up (Manu?!? amazing). Keller needs to be added sooner or later, he's a bonnaroo staple and he's playing Wakarusa just a week beforehand, then he has a solid two week gap in an otherwised full tour. I feel like they might make it a Keller Incident show, in efforts to appeaze the Keller/SCI crowd, without violating their policy of bringing back artists for consecutive years (even though they ignore that policy). Flaming Lips should get the nod as well, toss in 2 or 3 smaller artists, a comedian or two, and Bonnaroo is essentially complete.
And I see talk of Ben Harper, which I didn't think was likely, but still I must hope. He does have a 2 week gap between Japan and Europe, convinently timed around Bonnaroo. How about a special "Sunrise" set? Go acoustic until the sun is all the way up, then start rocking the day away.
I wish Steve Vai and his current band would headline Bonnaroo. I would rather see him and his band headline than any other band. Steve Vai and his band are all virtousos and would just be a great show. I doubt that would happen anytime soon though.
I saw Steve Vai a little over a year ago. To be honest it wasn't a great show. It's just basically "play as hard and fast as you can, always" and that's true for all musicians. There's no sense of being a team, of making other sound good, or simply enjoying the music. It's just trying to see who's best, who can do things with their fingers that the others can't, and I don't really think that's what music is all about.

I've gotta believe that they're waiting so long on Round 4 because they're doing really well already with ticket sales, the thought being that they don't have to push at this point, they can stretch it out, keep the hype up without too much danger of underselling, and make a few big announcements closer to the concert date. I have a strong feeling we're looking at a sell out by mid-April.

Bonnaroo 2005 announcements: Initial lineup: 1/19/05, 37 bands Round 1: 1/27/05, 5 bands (including Trey, Mike & Duo) Round 2: 2/7/05, 2 Bands (J5 & Black Crowes) Round 3: 3/9/05, 4 bands (inc. The Word, De La Soul) Round 4: 3/24/05, 6 bands (inc. Kings of Leon, RJD2) Round 5: 4/5/05, 4 bands (inc. Rat Dog) Round 6: 4/14/05, 9 bands (inc. Galactic, Herbie Hanc0ck)
If Roo announces this week it actually looks like they are right on par with their announcments. I think what we need to look at is who is being announced than when they are being announced. If they announce more indie rock, hip hop, and dj's then I would geuss that what is making the festival sell. My assumption.
I guess they would be on par with last years Roo. The difference is that last year the third announcement was pretty big. I mean sure Sonic Youth is pretty big, but nothing compared to the Word. And Common doesn't begin to compare to De la Soul.
I think Saint Cash was making the point that The Word, like Oysterhead, are not a band who are generally on tour and available for listening. Sonic Youth is a great announcement, certainly one of the top tier artists this year, but what makes a band a huge selling point for bonnaroo is the inability to see the artist elsewhere (as in Radio and Oysterhead). I'm checking all the time for an update, figure it will be soon. Probably 2 big names left to come (please, please Harper and Flaming Lips, or Keller and SCI). My question, when are the 'roo activities going to be announced?

Over on MySpace, there's a guy claiming that he spoke to Wayne at Langerado, and that Wayne explicitly stated that they (Flaming Lips) were not going to do Bonnaroo this year, but "maybe next year." Obviously, credibility comes to question, but I thought I'd lay this rumor on the table.

If what you say is true attornaroo, then that means that the Lips are definitely playing, Waynes just doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag. Hey, a fella can wish can't he??? I would love to melt my face to the Lips, they rocked at All Good last year.
