Just checked the official site and Feb 14 is the announcement of an "initial" lineup. I can't make it that long. So, I want you guys to freeze me 'till the lineup comes out...
yep I just saw that too. Sucks @ss. I wonder if it has anything to do, with having Pearl Jam as a headliner, and maybe having to find another one now(shrugs)

Yeah that's my initial thought too. I wasn't going to be that specific, but I'm betting one of their headliners fell through and they need time to find a replacement.

That would really suck if that were the case. I thought for sure that PJ would play this year, but it's starting to look like they might not be . Maybe the announcement of The Police reunion pushed them out of the picture.
Pearl Jam is certainly an issue. But I was thinking the long wait meant long negotiations with The Police.....
Now that I think about it, I'd imagine they're waiting until the 14th because of The Police's upcoming Grammy appearance on the 11th. They probably want to see what the reaction will be once the mainstream public sees them together again before spending a boatload of cash to book them.
"As you may have heard, we have purchased a major portion of the beautiful farm where Bonnaroo takes place each year. We are very excited about the opportunity it will provide us to improve the festival for years to come. We now have a permanent home in Manchester and look forward to seeing you there every year during Bonnaroo time!"

The reason you will not see th line-up announced until then very well could be because of The Police. I don't remember where I read it (probably here), but they are supposedly rumored to open the Grammy Awards. I bet you anything there is no announcement of them reuniting till then, and the Grammys is supposed to be a big surprise. That being said, the Grammys this year are February 11th. Which means out of respect Bonnaroo has to wait till after this to announce the lineup. Not like they will have a problem selling out this year anyway.
In the time it took me to look up when the Grammys were and post this mst3 beat me too it. I believe he is right except the waiting to see how the public reacts thing. The public is going to go crazy, and it is supposed to be a big surprise, that is why they are waiting. With a band this big agreeing (hopefully) to play the 'roo, you do whatever they want. They don't want you to announce them playing till March, you do it.
mst3 I think you're both right and wrong. the public is going to LOVE the Police - how could they not? I don't think they're gonna be "waiting to see how they're seen" because the Police is guaranteed to be a huge draw. However, I could see the Police not announcing anything then opening the Grammy's on the 11th as a "surprise," thus Bonnaroo having to delay their own announcement to accomodate the headliner.

I don't know if they're waiting to see for booking reasons or just because the Police don't want them releasing info...
Also-- don't be shocked, if Pearl Jam is headlining, if Pearl Jam doesn't want to be able to announce it themselves to their 10club fanclub first before the official Roo announcement.

I would hate to hear that none of the headliners have been booked yet. Is that really possible? What if we were to lose PJ and not book The Police? Tom Waits has always been a rumor... And if I don't get Arcade Fire....
I think they booked WSP like 9 months in advance (or more) in 2005 so they're DEFINITELY not waiting until now to book headliners.
And Rooskew, though it took me a while to figure out what you were saying, I think that would make sense. from what I've seen Pearl Jam is very loyal to their fans and other acts at other festivals (Tom Petty and Massive Attack confirmed their ACL appearances ahead of time) so I wouldn't be surprised if they said something. However, with that Poland gig looking much more likely, I don't think they'll be playing.

i knew the pj fans wouldnt give up. they are supposed to be doing a show in poland on roo weekend. and there is a baby due in may so anything in june is up in the air. im thinking this makes the police almost a sure bet. im positive the delay is to keep the grammys show a surprise/big deal
Jason: You're not wrong, but they've since gone on to play the Leeds/Reading festival in England, and enjoyed it greatly. They're back in the festival fold.
