Also, upon further reflection, I've decided that this round of additions is sucks because they did not announce that Phish was getting back together for a seven hour tent show . . . and has anyone heard of these guys called "Arcade Fire"?
don't worry detective, they had to postpone the phish announcement until treys legal troubles pan out, but they are still (according to my sources) penned in for the saturday late night spot

is that before or after the beach boys? ;D

damm it looks like theyre gonna be on at the same time, aint that some shit. so either this means theyre all gonna be part of the superjam or theyre gonna be scheduled against each other to control the crowds. its gonna be interesting.
you people should respect ornette coleman. he is a legend.
I definitely respect him and I will happily go to his show and probably really enjoy. However, I can't help but be a bit disappointed in this announcement. I was hoping for something to get really excited about... like Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, or a big name like the Allman Brothers.
I mean... come on... I hope that there are much bigger announcements than this. I'm getting worried.

Ornette Coleman is amazing. Has not left my cd player since my tongue dropped from my mouth upon reading the addition. Seriously needs to play latenight for all the ladies.
I don't have time to read the whole thread, so it's possible someone already mentioned this, but The Mars Volta are on one of the tracks on the new El-P CD, soo uh... yeah, that'd be awesome.
Seriously guys, even if you're not stoked about Ornette Coleman you should check it out. It's the next best thing to resurrecting Miles Davis to play. Many folks would think BETTER than resurrecting Miles Davis.
"On the bright side, at least the Fiction Plane rumor hasn't been officially confirmed..."
Fiction Plane is opening for The Police on some dates. I'm sure they'll be at Roo. Robert Randolph is touring with Ziggy Marley. I'm sure he'll be there too.
i checked out "Sound Grammer" and i have to say im not a fan. It just isnt that pleasing to my ears. However i can tell that it will be a great performance live. So maybe ill check them outat roo this year.
im getting "Ornette Coleman - The Shape of Jazz to Come" right now. Maybe ill like that album better.

Hmm, sorry to say if you didn't like Sound Grammar, Shape of Jazz To Come probably won't be anymore pleasing to your ears. OatmealSchnapz is right, give Change Of the Century a whirl.

Im happy to say that you're wrong. Im listening to the Shape of Jazz to Come right now and i really really like it.

I was reasonably satified with yesterdays artist additions (don't know anything about Ornette Coleman, but I'm looking forward to checking him out) until I got an email from 10k lakes festival today with their new additions.
They got both the Tragically Hip and Zappa plays Zappa added today.
Two bands I'd love to see added to Roo this year, especially the Hip who would kick some serious ass at Roo. Any other Canadians on here can vouch for me on that one.

Is it possible that everyone else is trying to screw 'Roo (e.g., exclusivity clauses when they sign up)? Seems like there's a lot of competition to be THE summer festival this year.
Hot Damn!!! Coleman and Bromberg!! These guys are kings of music - broaden yourselves, go check them out. That's what Bonnaroo is all about. Every year I try to sample artists I've never heard live, sometimes never heard of period. Last year a younger kid sat next to us during Buddy Guy's set and after a bit he turns to his friends and says "Damn, this guy's pretty good!" Be that person.
Here's a link for some info about David Bromberg (inc. tracks from his new CD) cdbaby.com/cd/bromberg I also HIGHLY recommend listening to "Demon in Disguise". "Wanted Dead or Alive" (both CDs with members of the Dead as his backing band) and "How Late'll Ya Play 'Til?"
I was TOO excited about Coleman and David Bromberg. I must have played that Demon in Disguise album hundreds of times when I owned a little beach bar in SC in the late 70's. (Don't tell BMI) He is so talented. I'm glad to see what he has done since then. Went to how to make violin school. too cool.
I know every band won't appeal to me, just like not every one will appeal to you, but isn't that why they have 4 stages? I'm very open to hearing some music I have never heard before, I thought that's what its all about folks!

I'm not Canadian, but I love the Tragically Hip. I'm catching them here in Boston 4/20. Can't wait! I would love to see them added.
The Hip are fantastic live. I've been pulling for them at Roo for a while.
Fantastic would be an understatement! AMAZING is the word I would use! I would pee my lil' pants if THE TRAGICALLY HIP was added! I've seen them 7 times and I always leave EXTREMELY satisfied ;D If you've never heard of them check them out!!!

Has there ever been true classic punk rock at Roo? Three Words... New York Dolls, I can't believe no one has broought them up here Since they've reformed, this band has been smokin' up the road and it can be argued that their new album is as good or even better than the classic original two. They seem to be up for playing anywhere, anytime, they have the time of their lives on the stage, and will get any crowd dancin' up a storm, guaranteed. Superfly, I know that if these guys were invited, with no hesitation they'd say yes. Since we can never have The Ramones or The Sex Pistols, let's get the guys who inspired them all... Who's with me?!?!? :)
