Are you guys serious about liking the tragically hip? I saw them at a festi once and everyone was like "what the hell is this" except for all of the canadians who knew every word to every song. 10klf probably added them to get their canadian neighbors to buy tix.

Has there ever been true classic punk rock at Roo? Three Words... New York Dolls, I can't believe no one has broought them up here Since they've reformed, this band has been smokin' up the road and it can be argued that their new album is as good or even better than the classic original two. They seem to be up for playing anywhere, anytime, they have the time of their lives on the stage, and will get any crowd dancin' up a storm, guaranteed. Superfly, I know that if these guys were invited, with no hesitation they'd say yes. Since we can never have The Ramones or The Sex Pistols, let's get the guys who inspired them all... Who's with me?!?!? :)
YES!!!!! Bonnaroo needs old school punk rock . . . NYD would be awesome! Also, for the love of God, add Social Distortion! The perfect combonation of punk rock and blues . . . mmmm . . .
Ornette is the only add on that list Im really excited about. ALl the others, ih avent gotten a chance to listen to. Oh well.... as for the punk, Im so game. I only wish the Clash were still around.....

Bonnaroo is very very weak this year after you get past the top 7 or maybe 8 acts. It isn't even close to what it has been for the past few years. I was totally planning to go, but I am changing my vacation from work and doing something else with my money. It isn't worth the time and effort for this line up.
I think Sanjaya Malakar would have been a more interesting addition.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

That's why I was hoping for the addition of The Good, The Bad, and The Queen. I'm not a huge fan of their album (it's good, but I've seen better from Supergroups), but with Paul there, it opens the door for a Super(Duper)Jam of:
Paul Simonon on bass Pat Carney (of the Black Keys) on drums Tom Morello and Jack White on guitars and vocals Playing The Clash

i've seen the hip 17 times. seriously, check out their album "fully, completely" and if that doesn't change your mind, nothing will.

Oh man, Morello+WHite covering the only band that matters would be an event of epique proportions. as soon as my hours up, you get karma for that thought.

Personally, I really like this little round of artist additions.
We got a great Jazz artist who I dont really know much about, but cant wait to check out. EL-P is really bound to put on a great show, and David Bromberg sounds like a sweet deal as well.
I will go with everyone else when I say it makes me really happy to see acts Im not too familiar with, because then I get to expand my ever increasing library of musical taste.
Seriously guys, the lineup thus far is AWESOME. I think it could use a few more jam acts to round off the atmosphere that i want. Hopefully Robert Randolph will fill that.
Look for me, one of the most ecstatic music fans around, going crazy in the crowd of Coleman, Bromberg, and EL-P

I disagree. I think this is the deepest festival lineup this side of Germany.

I on board with this line of thought.
Although, I was very surprised that Dinosaur, Jr. were not added. It seemed like they would have been the Sonic Youth add of this year, especially with them touring up until June 9th.
the way i see it is that a lot of the fun from music festivals is discovering new acts that you would have never heard of before. i would like to see some exciting "big" names added too, but anything that they add is another possibility to find something that you wouldnt have listened to otherwise. i've never heard of any of the new additions, but they sound interesting and i'm excited to be able to see something new

I posted this in the "drunken" thread but, I think it applies more here:
"A girl sat sorting strawberries. They were all hers, a gift. She picked one up. 'Too small', she said and threw it away. 'Too bruised'. 'Too ripe'. 'Too green'. 'Too sour', throwing them all away. The girl was very hungry, so hungry she knew she did not want to settle for things she knew she did not want, for that would only make her more unhappy with disappointment. 'Fine, a little hunger. I know what I do not want.' She sorted berries for hours, disdainfully rejecting each one. She grew tired and the sun grew low. 'I know what I do not want', she said, 'and I will not be happy with it.' This she knew above all else. If everything changed she would still be sure of that. She kept on peering at each strawberry, faced pinched with hunger, and tossed them to the side. She knew what she did not want. And then the sun set behind orange and apple and peach and lime, and pineapple and kumquat and banana and tangerine, and gooseberry and plastic, and beautiful trees."
I think that says it all!

This might be the most perfectly placed quote ever. Karma to you for that!! Seriously though if you're into what I consider mainstream, Oysterhead, TMV, Arcade Fire, the same old bands that play festivals every year, Step back and open your eyes at least for these 4 days. I could spend way less and see these bands at the venues by my house. I feel ANY artist announcements are good announcements and Im especailly excited when its not someone Ive heard 30,000 times.
