i think this is pretty realistic..
fri: pre-arcade fire -> bjork
sat: pre- incubus -> Pearl Jam
sun: pre-moe. -> Trey/Dead/dmb jam band slot
im really hoping for radiohead to come back but i highly doubt they would bring them back so soon. hopefully they'll release the new cd some time soon and tour
I believe the new cd has been announced for release in August/September. Who knows how much validity that actually has though.

As if the Led Zep reunion rumors werent enough, Rolling Stone has reported that Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck will be joining forces for a Yardbirds reunion tour. Since other members have already been touring as the Yardbirds, I am more apt to belive this rumor (although I'm still suspicious). And despite the anti-reunion fervor that the Police's lackluster headlining spot this year, a chance to see 2 of rock's best guitarists headline Roo is a delicious thought.

What do yall think about Peter Gabriel headlining?
i was getting ready to post my lineup and you said one of them! i think peter gabriel would fit in perfect with roo's vibe and atmosphere. alot of people would be pleasantly supprised at how good a show he puts on.
thursday = john butler trio ( not too big not too small for thrs nite) friday = peter gabriel saturday =led zeppelin sunday = govt mule

Did anyone else notice that they played the entire "Morning View" album over the PA at Which Stage prior to OCMS on Saturday morning? Helped take my mind away from the sun and heat at 10:00 in the morning. I, for one, would be pleased as punch to see Incubus at the Roo.

I've seen several shows. Everyone from unknown coffee shop locals to the likes of Eric Clapton. I've seen Incubus 3 times, and all 3 performances are in my top 10 shows I've seen. Just for the record.
But you're right. They'd totally ruin Bonnaroo. With all that music and stuff... they totally don't belong.

Does everybody think MMj can really headline???
No. People tend to predict/wish for ridiculous headliners.
Edited to add: look at the post right below this one.
It's a shame, but part of the fact is that very few bands have a sizeable enough presence and fanbase to justify letting them headline, i.e. play in front of 80,000 people. A good rule is that if they are still playing small clubs and theatres, they shouldn't headline. Yeah, it would be kick ass to have MMJ or Dark Star Orchestra or whoever headline, yeah I'm sure they'd sound great, but no way does Superfly hand over a headlining spot to a band that plays in small theatres for 20 bucks a ticket.
I respectfully disagree. MMJ has already headlined Langerado, and their star is rising higher and higher all the time. If you were at their 2006 late night show, you recognize that they were WAY too big for the biggest tent already. While they may not headline this year, they certainly are pretty close to ready. New bands are going to have to take over the headlining duties at some point and the three most likely nominees for this honor are MMJ, the Flaming Lips, and the Arcade Fire imo.
Noone ever mentions Brian Wilson. I, for one, would love to see someone like Brian Wilson or Paul Simon on Friday night next year. And now that it seems that Superfly is going to get involved in the whole "All Tomorrow's Parties" vibe (see Iggy and the Stooges playing "Fun House" at Vegoose), maybe we could see Wilson come to play "Smile." But that might be a topic of discussion for a whole other thread.
i guess they are kind of stuck with wsp. cause they won't put them on a smaller stage. so it's either have them headline or don't ask them back at all.
very true... unfortunately. i'm still gonna go see them tommorrow night in my hometown! :-)

I will respectfully disagree with your respectful disagreement. Look at the past headliners.
2002: WSP, WSP, Trey 2003: Neil Young, WSP, the Dead 2004: Dave & Friends, the Dead, Trey 2005: DMB, WSP, WSP 2006: Radiohead, Tom Petty, Phil Lesh & Friends 2007: Tool, The Police, WSP
The Dead started in 1965.(PL&F is just an incantation of the dead) Neil Young started in the 60's. Tom Petty started in the 70's. The Police started in 1977. Trey has been touring (more notably with phish, but he still has the big name pull) since 1984. WSP has been playing together since 1986. Tool has been around since 1990. DMB & Radiohead has been around since 1991.
The only band to headline that probably shouldn't have headlined but did was Dave & Friends. They had only made one album and had been a band for a few months when they got the nod. BUT AGAIN, the names of Dave Matthews and Trey Anastasio were big enough to pull people to the stage, even if they had no idea.
And now to my point... While it is true that MMJ is a great band, and long-time rooers will affectionately grasp onto them and go see them, let's look at the headliner notes and compare. MMJ has been around since 1998 and has released about 5 albums. If you polled the united states and asked them if they knew the names of these bands: The Police, Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and My Morning Jacket... i would be willing to bet money that 90% of people would have no clue who MMJ are. Hence, no headliner spot.
On a side note(but not a more important note), Have anyone ever heard MMJ on the radio? I know radio play doesn't make a band, but it gets your name spread around... so i was just wondering.
I've seen Incubus 3 times, and all 3 performances are in my top 10 shows I've seen. Just for the record.
lmao
Wow! You're cool. Laughing at someone for liking a band. Have you ever actually listened to Incubus? What are you basing your opinion on? What type of band is it that is ruining Bonnaroo? Good one's? Good music is good music. It doesn't matter what type of band they are. If you don't like them, don't see them. But to say they will ruin Bonnaroo is a pretty bold statement.
