I GUARANTEE that the Killers will NOT be headlining Saturday night of Coachella... They are not big enough AT ALL... They don't even play arenas... I know they're from Vegas and bigger out west, but there's NO WAY after Portishead and Prince last year that they let The Killers headline the main night of their festival... Just my two cents
And having Leonard Cohen is TIGHT
but they are headlining dude on saturday night , so much for a guarantee ..... cr****
The moderator at the Coachella board said we are getting more Sahara (electronic) acts soon. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple of big adds like Chemical Brothers or Basement Jaxx. And I am expecting another huge add for Saturday. The lineup is not done yet, by any means!
Just my opinion, I think this lineup is incredibly weak.
McCartney is well, McCartney, but I've always been more of a Lennon guy (not that McCartney wouldn't be absolutely fantastic.) The Cure never really did it for me. The Killers, I'd watch them if they pre-headlined for a real headliner.
Doesn't break my heart though because April 19 (and hopefuly April 18) I will be inWorcester watching the Dead.
I don't think the Killers have been very good since Hot Fuss, but to say they are a bad live band is wrong. I have seen them a few times, and they really can whip the crowd into a frenzy.
this lineup is awesome IMO. i would definately have taken Paul and The Cure at roo. TV on the Radio, My Bloody Valentine, Michael Franti, Public Enemy, Thievery Corporation all highlights for me. not to mention fleet foxes and cloud cult.
the dance party seems quite awesome with Crystal Method, Girl Talk, MSTRKRFT, and Ghostland/
im just gonna say it... i'm kinda jealous. damn i wish i had the money to get to california.
Usually no headliners shared in the same year, Jack Johnson being the dubious exception to the rule.
Thank heavens for small favors. I think I'd enjoy seeing McCartney, but I am not a fan of The Killers and I thought The Cure was so uninspired at Sasquatch last year (this coming from a huge Cure fan). It was canned...overproduced...sexless.
I have nothing against The Killers music, but I echo the sentiment of them sucking live. You have to be a total fan to dig them.
Not true. I was very much a casual fan when I saw them at Echo and I thought it was a really good show. I still wouldn't put them in my top 10 or even 20 bands, but I'd like to see them live again. When's the last time you saw them?

as usual, it depends on your taste in music, but that lineup is pretty damn cool imo. i'm meh on killers, but other than that it's a pretty solid initial lineup. if i lived in the western half of the u.s. i'd be there in a heartbeat, but alas, i won't be.
also as usual, i'm already jealous of their electronic/dance music even before any adds (crystal method, crystal castles, MANDY, roni size, mstrkrft, hercules and love affair, supermayer, the bug, junior boys, gui boratto, girl talk).
for me, coachella usually does have a better lineup than roo, but that's alright because roo has other aspects that make it awesome. plus i think superfly has something special cooking for this year.

I think a lot of people on the Coachella boards are expecting Prodigy...which is a pretty good speculation

Prodigy will be tough, since they have a UK show on the 18th.

Between their first and second albums. They blew monkey chunks.

The only positive thing about not seeing Paul McCartney is I get to stay entrenched in my dislike of him which I know would only crumble the first minute I heard Blackbird, A Day in the Life or Eleanor Rigby...

If I cherry pick the lineup I like it, but not for $305, without camping and since I live in FL having to fly in, plus hotel (or camping w/very limited supplies) food, drinks, etc...too much $$ for not enough festie
^^^^^ Karma to you. Just because the "you must be a muneca..." under your avatar brought a smile to my first. Sublime hands down favorite band of all time. Always glad to meet fans or see references to em.

I wouldn't travel for it, but if I lived nearby, I'd definitely be going. The only acts I haven't seen that I'd want to see are X, TVOTR, Henry Rollins, and Leonard Cohen. And none of those get me on a plane to California. Ah, Coachella. Someday I'll make it out there.
The positive things I can pull out of this lineup are:
1. This bodes well for Band of Horses, Beirut, Calexico, TVOTR, and Blitzen Trapper joining the festie circuit this year, which is a big hell yeah as far as I'm concerned! 2. Do. NOT. overlook. Public Enemy! If anyone saw them do It Takes A Nation... at Pitchfork last year, you know what I'm talking about. 3. I suspect that Mike Patton/Rahzel set will be awesome. I hope he brings Butterscotch!
