Nice, this is sounding pretty decent. I like the Vitus Tinnitus connection a lot better, especially since "vitus" sounds like it would have to be some form of the Latin for "life." I'm no Latin expert so I could be way off, and it definitely doesn't translate exactly, but it wouldn't be totally dissimilar from "tinnitus lives" I don't think - which practically translates to "A persistence of sound persists," don't you think?
They announced on the radio today, here in Chattanooga, that Robert Plant slipped up and announced at one of his shows that he's playing Bonnaroo this summer.
Nannie goat's offspring are called Kids... combine that with "Persistence of sound persists" and we are looking for a band that has been around for a while, and now has new members which included the kids/offspring of the original members, yet the sound is still similar. Combine that with "Sun shines = joy? as in Band of Joy" from above, along with the announcement slip up...
Widespread Panic? Rumored to be playing on Sunday (Sun shines). First band to appear on the Capricorn Records label (goat allusion). They played the 1st 'Roo, many since and possibly this one so their persistence of sound persists. (Not to mention the din of a widespread panic.) They've closed the festival in previous appearances, putting the kids to bed Sunday night, as good nannies should.

I like the Capricorn reference, but widespread's played 'roo before (per GC, this answer hasn't). However, 311 (also on Capricorn, song called "Starshines," & instances of using the same lyrics in multiple songs) hasn't played 'roo before...

Hmmm okay so we're looking for a band who had a former name relating to goats.
What about the Drums? Wiki says "The Drums are an American indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York,[1] with members stemming from the shortlived band Elkland (formerly Goat Explosion)."
They have an EP called "Summertime" and wiki also says "Graham also mentions that reverb in general has played a major role in their sound: '...If reverb didn't exist we wouldn't have bothered trying to start a band.'"

Word up, I'm gonna second a 311 guess here, not just they are one of my favorite bands, but they are no longer on the Capricorn label. The sun shines on them (Los Angelos residents) for sure... also note the record Soundsystem, as well as their many lyrical references to "sound" and "sun".
Edit: ....and its about bloody time 311 plays Bonnaroo!!!!

Does anybody know anything about the Drums? I'm all excited over finding something that can fit every part of the clue, but I don't actually know anything about them so idk if they're likely or not. They've been a support band for both Florence + the Machine and Kings of Leon which sounds somewhat promising, but they don't appear to have any current tour dates listed or anything.
