Siggy are you really telling me you aren't going to make this? longinus I'm there, as long as it isn't THE weekend of MOEMS, I'm there! And popsicle sarah better be there too <3
Good evening, everyone. I'm "in". Started my payment plan yesterday. Forgive me if I sparsely post as I am focusing on Bonnaroo. But, after that ends I will begin my planning. I'm hoping for a mild Fall in Florida.

Plan on getting phunked! Just a heads up though: most people that attend Bear Creek probably pirate their movies/television so that they can save that money for concert/festival tickets. Please don't give them any grief because they're just trying to maximize the amount of fun in their indigent lives. I, on the other hand, have an extensive blu-ray/dvd/vinyl collection and my home smells of rich mahogany.

Right on. We'll have to meet for a beer and solve the universe's problems or at least point out it's defects.
Bear Creek fan Micah asked recently for Jim James to play with The Roots at Bear Creek '13, and we sorta brushed him off. Far-fetched, we agreed. BAM! They jam together in NYC! Here's Jim singing John Lennon's "Instant Karma" at the gig: bit.ly/1auICZw. Show review on Jambands.com: bit.ly/1auIObb. We were thinking of adding a rapper to our Artists-At-Large, but maybe this is a better idea. Whaddya think, BC?
If I'm not there and Jim is... I'll be very, very unhappy... I'm most likely out, but am holding out some hope... I might visit my sis over Thanksgiving which means I miiiight have vacation days to spare. If that's the case and I can get a good flight, then BC is an option.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Hellz Yeah! I'm going! I live only 80 miles away, so if I can't make the whole BC event, I will DAMN sure to drive over there and back just for his show.
Anyone know what it's like bringing kids to BC? Obviously they don't have the heat problem that Roo has, so I was thinking I could bring my daughter along.

I don't have kids, but I can comment that BC is a pretty crunchy/hetty kind of fest. This is good and bad, good in that most of the people are going to be pretty cool and laid back, bad in that it is definitely a party, and you will see plenty of people engaging in party type acts.
The fest is also small, so there isn't a great deal of walking to be had, so that is good as well.
And while it doesn't have a heat problem, it can definitely have a cold problem. It was freezing the year before last, I had multiple layers on and hand warmers and was still shivering all night the first night. Last year was cold but not super duper cold.
Just a few things to think about when weighing your decision.
I saw several kids at Bear Creek last year. There was one incident that kinda pissed us off though. One couple got wasted and their kids wandered off. It took a few cops and the collaboration of many camped in that area nearly an hour to find them. I'm going to assume that you have more sense than that though. Bring your daughter. She will have fun. Buy some firewood. Let her roast some marshmallows.

One of The main things I would look forward to if going to BC is the possibility that it would be cold. I'd love to wear a jacket and toboggan and make s'mores by the campfire.

It's a fest you could totally bring your kids to as long as you stay pretty sober. The two twin 5 year old boys that went missing just pissed me off last year. I'd tooth punch their parents if I had the chance.

You'll definitely need that jacket. We don't call it Brrrrr Creek for nothing. The cold is a nice change from the typical festival atmosphere. And if the jacket don't keep you warm the funk will.
