I think we may try to do Bear Creek this year. I've been to Bonnaroo nine times, but I've never done another camping festival before. The weather, venue, and large amounts of FUNK have me intrigued.

You will enjoy SOSMP! Bear Creek will set the bar and change the way you view how camping music fest should be.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I like this thread. Just bought my tickets and I can't wait for the cool air. You need any help prepping this year Scrog?
Always sir! funk yeah!!! Hulaween is two weeks before and most of what we do there will be repeated at bear creek, but yes we can always use help setting up. We are Underwater themed, so anybody wanting to participate please feel free to express your ideas. We are going to have an Old Gregg section to the trail, so look out for a ball of purple titties.
Also, we are trying to have a late night, after the music, light saber battle. Bring you Star Wars light saber and be prepared to battle!
For anybody new to SOSMP and what Short Cut Camp does, ask around, look at the Wanee thread or PM me and I will feel you in on the details, but basically we have the coolest camp at Bear Creek and SOSMP. .
So I see that you have to buy an extra ticket to get in on Thursday. Why do they do that I suppose?
My buddy I'm supposed to be going with had no idea so I'm waiting to see what he decided. It's not much more it's just odd that they do that. Is it worth coming on Thursday or should we wait to Friday? (I think I know the answer but wanted to throw it out there)

They've been doing this for at least a few years now. I could be mistaken, but I think it is extra to camp a day earlier as well. Last year we opted for a cheap hotel in Madison for 5-6 people instead of the cost of Thursday tickets and camping for our group (we heard it was an extra $20-25/person for camping). It could be worth it if you are into the Thursday lineup (when announced) or if you want to claim a campsite early. They're doing a Wednesday night show this year too.

I'm going to Hulaween too, how early are you going in? I stepped up my game a bit at Roo this year and have some new toys to contribute.

Sweet! Looking to get in EARLY, not sure when, but most likely Tuesday. More details to come, but SCC visual treats might be relocated over by the lake, with camp by the trail. Working on details, but we are trying to get involved with the Spirit Lake promenade. Looking forward to your treats! If this works out, I could use help setting things up.
Bootsy is playing a birthday bash show in nola on 10/25. It's $50 after fees though. Should I do it or just hold out for Bear Creek? I feel like I should...he's definitely gonna throw the funk down hard on his bday.

I could be wrong, but I am almost sure the cost of camping is include with the extra price for Thursday and now Wednesday. I mean you do not pay extra to camp on those days, but you would pay extra to camp on Tuesday if you wanted to get there then. Thursday is extra, because not everyone can make it on Thursday and they should not have to pay for a day they can not make it. Every year I have been it has been 110% worth it to come in on Thursday. If you can, IMO it would be worth it to get there on Wednesday.

Thanks for clarifying. I went by hear-say last year and we got a hotel Thursday instead. Glad to know camping is included in the price. Will def consider coming Thursday this year.

Well people, there is bad news to break. Borahm, Adam and Eric Bloom will be on tour with Pretty Lights at that time this year. We will miss them dearly in November but we are so very happy for their success playing with Derek all over the country. This will certainly lead to the next question- We will be featuring 2 amazing Lettuce family shows with many special guests over the weekend. Details will be forthcoming as to the madness.
Just saw these guys last night. Any of you guys know them? Can't decide on my official opinion. LOOOOVED them when they are jamming out, but can't stand when Mike opens his mouth. And the girl is amazing. She dances around like I have NEVER seen someone in a band do. My friends and I kept saying they'd be amazing at a fest and I really have the urge to dance in a field to them, so I'm super jelly right now.
This is a pic from last night. No good shots even though I was upfront because of the lighting.
Mike Dillon is great to watch as is the girl (especially the girl!), the rest were boring me. I chose this video because of it's higher view count. There was no sax last night.

Will have to check them out Bonzai , sorry you can not make it.
Also, SCC we be sponsoring the first, of many, light saber battles at SOSMP! Yes, find your inner Jedi or inner Sith and bring your light saber to the party. After the main music is over, grab your weapon(aka light up sword), head over to the Short Cut and be ready to duel. That is right, on the short cut we shall battle! Details to come, but time, place, and dates are set. Now be ready to defend your Dark side or Light side.

anyone know if the light installations for Hulaween will be kept up thru Bear Creek? I keep hearing they are trying to do something like the forest in rothbury.
